  1. oh then one of these outfits would be perfect, do you have any idea how to contact them to give them the outfit? I even have the slippers to match. Similar style but the color of mine is a champagne Plus Size special occasion at WomanWithin.com
  2. Banded 10/3/09 by Dr. Stan Hahn and need recommendations for a new doctor for follow up and fills in the Golden Triangle/Lake Charles area.
  3. I'll ask the ministers in my neighborhood if one of their churches has need of them. My day to day clothing I've given to the Salvation Army but I have a cocktail outfit and a few really nice dresses that I've held on to, time to let them go.
  4. btw, what are ya'll doing with your old clothing? Since I was so large (32-34's) I'm not finding many that can wear them but I hate to toss some of the nicer outfits
  5. I bet if we asked Kim she'd be more than glad to let us post something at Dr. Hsu's office for local persons looking for a support group.
  6. I haven't but I will, Dr. Dean and I had a bit of personality conflict as he seemed a bit more worried about me picking up smoking or becoming a sex addict after weight loss and ignoring the fact I was almost 400lbs on an insulin pump with high blood pressure, high cholesterol just to name a few of my health problems.
  7. I don't know of anyone but I would be surprised if Orange didn't have others that had it done either by Pangburn, Spiegal or Hahn. By the time he (Dr. Hahn) left he was pretty apathetic about the practice in general IMHO, I had a horrible time after surgery with acid reflux and he really could have cared less for all the concern he showed. While I think he's a wonderful surgeon I would have hated to have him for a general practioner. I'll message you my number and maybe we can speak via phone and try to set up a group and a method of finding other patients here in Orange for some extra support.
  8. I've had three fills, I believe I'm up to 2.5 or 3 cc's and I have NO restriction at all. Dr Hahn really wasn't the same this past year and a half. I had used him prior to my lapband for another procedure and he was a totally different doctor. I'd love to be able to talk to a nutritionist to see what I could be doing differently to help things along. I have 80 or 90 more lbs I'd like to lose to meet the goal Dr. Hahn and I set so another year or more to go I'm sure. I'd really love to try and get a support group together, I'd offer up my home (as long as dust bunnies don't offend) for weekly or monthly meetings for us to get together and swap recipes or just support one another.
  9. I would not mind using Dr. Hsu but he does not take BCBS and my deductible for out of network is outrageous. I've looked into the Dr. Dean in Beaumont but not thrilled with his bedside manner, although the center itself is very well designed and a complete package unlike Dr. Hsu & Hahn. I'm not aware of any support group, but I'd love to start one. I've lost 130 lbs and weight loss and slowed down to a snails crawl and it's starting to drive me a bit batty. I just noticed I gave my band date as 10/3/09 that should be 10/3/08.

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

well can't remember how to reset my Smashing Pumpkins...boy that's distracting isn't it. LOL So how is everyone doing? Things have been slow here, only up to 2.5 cc in my 10 cc band and have NO restriction but I'm creeping along. I've continued to have extreme acid reflux and take carafate, prevacid and zofran daily to combat the problem. I've had a scope and they can find no problems so I'll just learn to live with it. Removing the band is not something I'm willing to do. Energy level is much better and I'm back to being able to do the normal day to day, can't tell you how happy I am with this so far.

Eeck haven't posted in forever, it's amazing how much you can do when you have the energy! Let me fix my ticker and I'll brb
  12. I was banded Oct 3 and had no problems at all..now I have (always had it but not this badly) major acid reflux that is causing nausea 24/7. I've started taking two nexium daily and will be able to see my doctor tomorrow afternoon. I know he will want to do an unfill but then I will have no restriction at all since my band is brand new. Can someone explain how this works...how long will he unfill for, is the reflux going to get better and go away or will it always come back if I try to get a fill? I've done great so far, losing 43 lbs in 5 weeks and I hate to go back to being able to eat anything I want.

    Heart Burn...Or???

lol neat, wonder if he will let me see my pictures. I really feel a difference with the Prevacid, still feel a bit of burning but not nearly as bad as I did on the nexium. I'm calling the office today to see if I can run by the hospital and take the H Pylori test (either blood or breath) on my way into town so that he will have the results back by my appointment on the 19th. We are scheduled to go out of town that Friday and to be honest I'd rather not go feeling like I've been. It will be a pain to travel and only be eating liquids. Do you think the hotel will think I'm nuts for bringing an emersion blender with me? *G*

    Heart Burn...Or???

What acid reflux meds are you taking? I went to my Primary Care this afternoon as I just oculdn't take the nausea anymore. She switched me from nexium to Prevacid and put me on Zofran. Keeping my fingers crossed they help a bit. Hope you get answers soon. Good Luck

    Heart Burn...Or???

Have they checked you for a bacerial infection in your stomach? I went yesterday for major acid reflux as well as nausea (I'm only 5 1/2 weeks out) and he's put me back on full liquids for a week, then he'll do the breath test for the bacteria. If that comes out clean then we move to the scope. I already take nexium 2X daily and a regulan before every meal.
  16. Wow you've done great, already 25 lbs! Way to go! I have found very few people our size on here and it worried me a bit thinking that maybe this surgery is only for people with just a hundred or so pounds to lose. Good to know others made the same choice I did.

I go to the doctors tomorrow afternoon for my first fill and I'm very worried. I've been having acid reflux badly for the last few weeks and it is now to the level that I'm nausious a good part of the time. I know he's going to want to unfill me but my band is pretty empty now as I haven't had a fill. I've been losing so well (43 lbs of today) that I hate to have an unfill and go back to being hungry and grazing all the time.

Have you found that you no longer really want to snack? I thought I would be climbing the walls but so far I've been ok. I probably pushed eating soft foods a bit early but I know myself, it was either eat very soft dark meat chicken or go nuts and take out a Dairy Queen.

That is fantastic! I've been so thrilled with the weight loss, never thought I'd lose this much in the first month either, doesn't it make a huge difference. I did a bit of research last night and I really think the nausea is from acid reflux. I've always had terrible reflux and use to chew tons of Pepcid AC and take nexium daily. I cut back on the Pepcid a few days ago (about a week) and that's when the nausea started. I'll take it easy for the next few days in what I eat and up my nexium dosage to twice daily. Keeping my fingers crossed that it helps as I've hated the feeling I've had the last few days.

I'm a diabetic and my sugar has been stable since the surgery. I talked to the doctors today and they suggested I go back on full liquid for a day or two and see if that helped. I post on another board (not a weight loss one) and one of the members is an older gentleman that had lap bad last year and he is driving me nuts. He thinks every doctor should go by HIS doctors guidelines etc. He thinks that since HE wasn't allowed soft foods at 5 weeks that everyone should be on the same schedule. That the only liquids I should be drinking are Water and Protein shakes, period. No decaff or herbal teas etc... arrrgh I'm trying not to be rude with him because he's a wonderful guy but I'm about to the point of smackin him via internet.
  19. lol join the club! I can't stand it and I know I need to! I am much more active now (well ok active for a person who weighs over 300 lbs!) and if I could just get my knee to stop hurting I think I could do even more.

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

Well I've run into a problem. I was banded on Oct 3 and everything went well. I did have a bit of acid reflux and nausea but the acid reflux was due to antacid rebound because I was taking to many and the nausea I chalked up to eating to fast. Sooo i cut back on the antacids and the reflux is now much better problem is I eat slowly, nothing fried or fatty nothing spicey etc and I'm still getting nausea. Some days it seems it's a constant. I was given regulan to take which does no good. I go to my first fill Wed and I hope my doctor can tell me somethign to do because it's really hell to be walking around daily green. Weight loss has slowed down to about 2 lbs a week and I'm still more than thrilled with it. Never starving, although I do tend to get hungry in the hours between lunch and dinner so I try and save my portein drink for that time of day. I'm eating about 1000 calories a day and that's three good meals of about 3/4 a cup to 1 cup as well as a snack. I do find I'm craving veggies, salads etc. Still not getting in all the Water I should. I drink a cup of hot tea in the morning and then sip on bottles of water during the day and have another cup of tea after dinner. It seems to settle my stomach a bit. Another small problem is gas...lol I have to watch bending down in public or stretching as one sneaks out. LOL Does this get better? I'm going to add some dried apricots to my morning meal to help keep me in working order as right now I don't have much of a BM for the first time in my life. I've learned I'm very sensitive to salt now. My feet use to be so swollen you couldn't tell they were feet or ankles and now they are normal looking feet (with padding of course) but I can still feel a bit of swelling when I wake up in the mornings in my hands. I sleep with my head elevated so maybe thats why.
  21. You might not be getting ENOUGH calories in...people seem to think that if they starve themselves then they lose more weight. This isn't the case. Find out how many calories you need for you BMI, activity level etc. And btw 3 lbs a week is nothing to sneeze at.

Moirak sounds like gas pains...I had them for a few days/week after the surgery and I had to learn to eat early and not lie down until several several hours after I ate. Heating pad works as well as moving around or sleep with your head elevated a bit.

    ?ctober ?dyssey 2008

I'm in the same boat Lone, I get hungry now, when before I didn't. Nothing so terrible that I'm starving but it's difficult. I get my first fill Nov 12 hope that helps.
  24. I want to point something out, I've had a few people make remarks on how little they have lost. Keep in mind how much you have to lose...in my case I've very overweight and had more than 210 lbs to lose at the start. That wouldn't have even put me at my "ideal" weight but a figure my Doctor and I thought could be reached as well as be healthier for me. So unless I'm eating junk I'll in most cases lose more weight quicker than someone with only 75 to 100 lbs to lose. If you only have 100-120 lbs to lose and you lose 10-20 that's 10% of the total weight you need to shed in a months time. That's pretty darn good! Please don't judge yourself by others on these boards, keep in mind that you are unlike anyone else as well as the factors in your life are different. A pound lost isn't a pound gained and that's something major.

Walk and use a heating pad...it will pass soon by the end of the week you'll be zippin around. Penny you've lost 44 lbs, so you are NOT losing this battle. Keep your chin up your doing great. If you have to eat the mushies early then just remember to go easy and take very small bites. Don't beat yourself up just remember this is for the long haul, it's not a diet.
