I live on the Alabama Gulf Coast and need a fill dr. I don't mind a long drive. I am trying to avoid flying back to CA for a drive into Tijuana...but, the local doc charges more than the trip to Tijuana would cost. Go figure. Anyone know of a fill dr. here in the Southeast?

I am coming to San Diego this week. I have a fill in Mexico. I decided to bring the family and make it a vacation. We want to go snowboarding...do some shopping and maybe an amusement park type thing. My questions are this: Where is the nearest snowboarding place?? Can we rent the equipment we need when we get there?? Is there anything within a couple hours of San Diego that is a "don't miss" activity??? My daughter wants to shop at "Forever 21"...is there one in the San Diego area??? Thank you for helping me with this! Dana

Thank you all very much. I was feeling abnormal and a little scared. I am excited about my first fill.....have even joined the gym in anticipation. Will need to something to fill my time other than EAT! I am ready to get with the program...hopefully, I will get good restriction with my first fill....I am flying across the country to get it!!! I am going to re-read the two books I have on lap band. I swear it feels like I don't even have one!!!! Better get my head right before I get restriction! Thank you all for your responses! Dana

I want to run my situation by all of you. I was banded early in November. For the first few weeks I felt restriction. Slowly I began to get more and more hungry....found that I could eat more and more. I am scheduled for my first fill Jan. 7th. Today I can eat like I did before the band. The only difference I feel is occasional port discomfort and really crude burps!!! I have gained back about half of the twenty pounds I lost right after surgery. I do make bad and unhealthy food choices...guess I have a last supper mentality post-band! I read all the posts here and worry if I have done band damage. I swear I wouldn't believe I even have a band if it weren't for the port!!!! Sometimes I forget I have it!!!!! I suppose I am wondering if this type thing happened to anyone else. If so, did getting a fill help??? I understand about the band mentality and proper eating....I guess I thought I would get more help from the band than I have. Not making excuses for my bad choices and certainly not knocking banding. I am just hoping that a fill will help me!!! Thanks for your input! Dana

Was banded Nov. 4th.....down 11 pounds.....couldn't be happier with my decision. I am, however, ready for full fluids tomorrow!!! Dana

I am wondering if you all know any good/practical books on lap band. I ordered the one written by Dr. Ortiz....it hasn't arrived and my surgery date is just around the corner!!!! Do you all have any book suggestions???? Dana

Hi everyone. I leave for MX Monday and have surgery Tuesday with Dr. Ortiz. I have read many great posts here and even had someone send me a list of needed phrases translated to Spanish. I would like some shopping advice. If I am able to go shopping, do you all have any recommendations as to where to go? Any warnings? Have you found any "bargains". I have started my liquid diet today....ugh. As I get more excited, I get more nervous. I have never even BEEN to MX....much less having surgery there! Any last minutes words from wise???? Dana

I have kept my 11/2 surgery a "secret". A few friends know....I am not going to tell my family until I return home. I don't want my children or parents to worry. My husband is on board and will be along to "take care of me"! Talk about Scorpio bandings....I get banded on the 2nd for my 40th birthday on 11/17!!! Its the best birthday present EVER!!!! Dana
