I've been resting and focusing on fluids and protein. I can't post status updates from my phone, and hadn't felt like getting the laptop out. I've gotten a minimum of fluids in each day, but not up to goal, and haven't been able to get protein in well. But yesterday was better than the day before, and today has started off really well. I'm able to drink more, and should meet goals today. Pain has been worse from my arthritis than the surgery since day 3, which is annoying but I'll take it. Working from home this week, so I should be able to keep drinking like I should. Followup and purees coming on the 31st.

I am glad to see the progress you're making. you seem like you are doing well, and making good progress. I have arthritis in my spine diagnosed since surgery, just talked to the NP at my visit this week about starting a supplement to help me with the pain. will probably order it this week to give it a try. I don't like to feel so much physically better in so many areas and to be held back because of that, you know?

Trying to find motivation to get dressed, am providing medic support at roller derby tonight

My poor trainer. I did some research on weight training with auto-immune arthritis, and apparently you have to start REALLY FREAKING low. 5-10% of total body weight for upper body, 25% for lower. That meant I had to do lat pulldowns with #10 of weight. Felt like nothing at the time. Slightly sore this morning, but I'm not seeing an actual flare, so we might be on the right track now. Fingers crossed. I do NOT want to give up on working out.

It can be really tough. My wife has Lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and Raynaud's disease. She's dealt with skin cancer, cervical cancer and a brain tumor since we've been married. Every time she finally starts losing weight she ends up with a flare and she has to go back on prednisone. My hat is off to you, I can see how difficult it really is for someone with autoimmune issues.
On a side note, have you looked into immunotherapy? As soon as we have the cash we will be heading back to Mexico for immunotherapy to cure her Lupus. The medicine base that she needs should be available again by the time that we have the money. Five thousand to cure her Lupus is the deal of a lifetime.

I'd need to know more about the treatment you're talking about. The current standard of therapy if DMARDs fail is also called immunotherapy, but it's not a cure, it's infusion of one or more biologic drugs. If you have info you can post or PM me, I'd happily look at it. Right now, we're using sulfasalazine and getting partial relief from it. I'm also very lucky in that I had a diagnosis very quickly comparatively speaking, and the diagnosis was made before any detectable damage was done to my joints. So we're working through the treatment protocols to get me the best relief as well as inflammatory suppression. We haven't maxed out sulfasalazine yet, if we do and need something else plaquenil is the next therapy to try, then if that failed we'd move to biologics.

I guess I'm in a mood today... watch out!!

50 lbs down. All of my work pants had to go. Got the skinny pile down, 1 pair fits now, and the other 10 will fit in 10-15 lbs. Guess I need to get those maxi skirts made!

I started to post "grad school sucks monkey butt" but I'm thinking I need a new saying.

BP completely normal (112/78) this morning. Surgery date August 17.
-
4 days until surgery. Seems alternately like it's tomorrow and that it's forever away.
-
Staying upbeat today, as I have last weigh-in for the supervised diet, and will be on vacay all next week.

Some days it doesn't pay to chew through the restraints... (is it 5 o'clock yet?)

I think I'm in a small stall. I haven't been on the scale every day, just every once in a while out of curiosity. I'm not stressing about it, but I haven't lost any for about 5 days now. I'm sure it will pick up again once I can get more than 600 cal a day. I am still loving this, having the emotional food thoughts so clearly separated from the physical is really eye-opening.

General Princess Leia, RIP. Dammit, 2016 You are Fired.

Have definitely stalled. Not worried about the weight, but I know I need to get my protein and calories up a bit from what I've been managing.
-
Met fluid goal yesterday, need to keep it up and get the protein intake up. Just don't feel like eating/drinking, but need to get in the habit. Otherwise doing really good, feeling more energetic today, and arthritis is even less pain than it has been. Still working from home, which was a good choice.

Weather front came in last night, woke up with a migraine. Thank goodness for a work from home agreement. Just now getting started on my workday. :/
-
Yeah. I've been bad about drinking my water the last couple of days and it's catching up with me. I guess one good thing about migraines is they let me know when I'm not eating and drinking enough before it reaches a level where I need medical intervention. (Yes, I'm a silver lining kind of person! LOL)

Lost another 4 lbs, now I am only Class II obese!! I'm going to run out of clothes really soon, though. My pant size hasn't started changing a whole lot yet, just some of my larger pants have had to go. But my shirt size is changing very rapidly. I had thought I'd have more time with the tops, but no... I'm going to end up having to go shopping (gasp!) in the next couple of weeks to stay clothed at work!!

Day 2 of the pre-op diet went much better than Day 1. Still got headachey and groggy, but it wasn't as bad. Now for Day 3 and the weekend challenge!!
-
Ugh. reached the point where I am hungry, but nothing sounds good.
-
New BP meds are working! BP has been consistently at or very near normal all weekend. Yay!
-
Pre-op testing today, continuing to slug along the pre-op diet. Found out how versatile the unflavored powders are. (Yeah, I'd know that if I'd actually try all the stuff I read... sue me. LOL)

More NSV - Jeans I haven't been able to wear since LAST fall are now comfortable on the verge of loose. Soft foods are harder than I expected, so still slogging away with the shakes for protein, but it's nice to have variety. My kinesiology student daughter is developing a workout plan for me LOL.

Ugh. Hate being sick over holidays. This cold can go suck it.
-
I am right there with you! Get well soon! I guess I can be thankful that I got it now and not a few days before my surgery in January. I have some time to recover. I hate being sick though and it happens so rarely these days. I think this might be the first cold I have had in 2.5 years since my surgery.

Weekends should be a minimum of 3 days. Just sayin'. Have my RA/PsA in a flare from the workouts last week. Chiro appt tonight, going to try for the pool tomorrow.
-
Waking up with a migraine sucks. Meds help, but then there's the "migraine hangover". So I didn't make it to the pool this morning, but I'm going to try to go after work.
