  1. i have hit a platue! I havent lost a pd in over a week! And i have gotten hungry (not mind hungry not growling hunger, more naw hunger), is it possible my body is freaking out on me. I have never ever been on 1200-1500cals a day more then a month. The last couple of days i have felt hungry, but i cant eat anymore then what my stomach will allow. I get full off of what i eat.. but i feel like i am starving yea know? This sucks. I get on the scale and nada i bounce up and down 5pds. And the thing is the weight i am at now, i been at that weight most of my adult life. 215-218pds I been at the weight since I had my first son. I only gone up higher then that 2 times in 12 yrs. once pregnancy and being married! lol And the weight fell off when i applied myself to my current weight, just like now! But now.. i been stuck at this weight for 2 weeks and nothing. Could my body be stubborn and is holding on to the weight? Will it last forever? I hope not.. I prolly either need to add some cals for a week or take away cals, but I dont know which way to go? Should I listen to my body and eat a lil extra like a Protein shake and bring my cals to 1800? Have any advice? Or should I lower them to less the 1200 cals a day to shock my system? Its been 2 months since my surgery.. I hope I dont need a fill. This is my norm meals a day:

b/f-cup of coffee with splenda and low fat half and half

Lunch- 1/2 ham or turkey sandwhich w/ lettuce, Tomato, lite mayo and 1/2 american cheese, with 1/2 oz chips (lowfat or regular)

dinner- 1 1/2 of Pasta dish or 3 oz of lean steak w. salad w/ lowfat dressing. 3 small pieces of chocolate ( dont tell me to get rid of that! lol)

My cals range from 1200-1500 a day

I havent had a fill yet. And yes i can tolarant that stuff! lol lucky me! Cant eat in the morning... HELP!

I am 3 months post op and I will tell you that I cannot or should I say I don't think I can eat breads, chips, steak or pastas. I have lost 40 lbs since my surgery in August and I have not had a fill yet either. My doc says I do not need one yet cause I am still loosing weight.

  2. My hubby was not supportive to start with and he knew I had to have him at my 1st and pre-op visit or they would not do the surgery. He went to those visits and listened to what the doctor had to say and he has ended up being very proud of me and my decision. He sees how much it has improved my quality of life and that has made it all worth it. Give him a chance and hopefully he will come around. My hubby knew I had made up my mind and he saw everything I went through to get approval for the surgery, so I guess he figured I had done all of the hard work so he could at least be there for me. I think it has made our marriage stronger too. Good luck and follow your heart.

  3. I was banded on August 1, 2008 and I went today for my 2 month checkup and he did not give me a fill this month either. I have not had a fill yet cause I lost 20 lbs the 1st month and I had lost 14 lbs this month so he said I did not need a fill yet. I am okay with that though. I wish I would never need a fill and could loose all of my weight with just the band restriction. My doc said right now I am actually running in line with his gastric bypass patients, but he told me not to get overly excited cause it will slow down now. I hope he is wrong though.

  4. I have not had a fill yet and I have lost 33 lbs since surgery on Aug 1st. I lost 20 lbs the first month and I have lost 13 lbs the 2nd month. I am scheduled for a fill tomorrow but I do not think he will do it cause I have lost 13 lbs this month. He said he is only looking for 3 to 5 lbs per month. We will see tomorrow. I still do not eat that much just with band restriction and I am not usually hungry between meals and those are the main things he asks. I hope I do not have to have any fills but I am sure I will at some point. I want to loose about 62 more lbs. Hope this helps.

  5. I lost 19 lbs on the post-op diet of liquids for 2 weeks, then the next 2 weeks I only lost 1 lb. My doctor said I was doing something wrong and he was right. I was eating creamy Soups, mashed potatoes and I even had a fried chicken tender from KFC. I was afraid of getting sick or stuck and that is why I was eating like that. He scolded me and reeducated me about how important it was to eat only Protein and leave all that other stuff alone. He did not give me a fill that day and I am scheduled to go back Oct 7th for a fill. I went home like a scolded puppy and decided I would try it his way even though he said I would gain weight before my next appt because I have had no fills, but guess what, I started the diet like he instructed me to and I have lost 11 lbs this month! I guess he did know what he was talking about. So just be careful to not eat around the band. The things I was eating was going right threw it. I hope this helps and just hang in there.

  6. Hey ya'll. Got a slight problem here. I have been having some pretty bad abdominal pain for about a week now. It isn't constant and stays in 1 place when it comes. It is like below my bread basket and over to the right. I am thinking it is gas pain, but Gas-X isnt helping, walking doesn't help and I have even tried rocking from side to side and back and forth and this isn't working either. When I went for my fill today I spoke to the nurse about it and she (like me) thinks it is nothing more than gas. Any ideas of what I can do to pass this gas. I can't get it out and this pain is driving me nuts. Oh yeah, it hurts more when I get up or have to walk around, if I am sitting or laying down, it doesnt bother me.

Do you have your gallbladder? It maybe gallbladder colic.

  7. I chose the band for similar reasons. I didn't like the idea of the rerouting & malabsorption of the bypass. My surgeon asked me the same question and said that there was no "right answer" he just wanted to be sure I'd thought it through. But then he did tell me it would take me 2 yrs to lose what a bypass patient would lose in 9 mos-1 yr which made me feel a bit discouraged. I am now 8.5 mos post op and have lost 110 lbs and went from a size 24 to a size 10! I've been very focused on the strict Protein diet my program prescribes and have tried to incorporate exercise as much as possible. So, don't let your surgeon discourage you from doing what you think is the right thing for you!

You have done great!! You have lost just as much as a gastric bypass person in the same length of time from the ones I am familar with. Keep up the good work. I gave my doctor the same reasons you did why I chose LB over GB and I think we made smart choices.
