  1. BUMP--

    This was getting too far down I couldnt find it!

    I got my second fill today and I am still unsure as i am not eating enough to know if I have restriction. There is a support group meeting tonight at my surgeons office. I am going to go I think . I have never been but I will try it and see if I like it or not. Well I better get ready to go see ya all later!


  2. I also had a hiatal hernia and he repaired it during surg. You are very young to do RNY and although it would be horrible- but if you get the band and want to do RNY you always can. If you get RNY you cant convert to a band. Although most likely the band will give you what you need. Do what your heart tells you is right, and use the info the dr gives you as just that "info" They are not all right all the time as you well know- Signed--AN RN to a Future RN-- Good luck with school!


  3. I dont know sounds like it maybe something else. "intense pain" I never had intense pain I think you should make sure you band is in the right place. Something doesnt seem right and if you feel like something isnt right demand to get it checked out. It is your right as the patient and you may have to get assertive. Good luck and update us when you can


  4. fruit smoothies are a great idea! I need to get more fruit in. I go tomorrow for my second fill and I may try that post fill for some different liquids thanks for the idea.

    Nat- hmm were you all warm and fuzzy I know you musta been a little fuzzy I would be fast asleep! LOL

    How is everyone doing not drinking with meals?? It really does help if you dont drink but it really hard.


  5. Nat- Kalamazoo is just right up the road! =) I am glad your party went well!

    Now for all of us overeating-- MYSELF included-- Let's stop! We dont want to gain weight! How do we stop?? Hmm I will have to think about it. I have been so hungry lately and I thought I would "test" my band as I didnt know if I had restriction or not. So I went to a buffet with dh and I ate like a pig, now mind you I was only 1/2 the pig I was preband but a pig none the less. I have determined I have little to no restriction with my first fill and will be getting another Thursday. But that little test was probably not the smartest thing to do b/c now I feel like I am constantly eating too much and of the wrong stuff, like bread I miss bread and

  6. LOL-- Well an egg roll has little to do with eggs! =) It is a fried crisy rolled wafer filled with cabbage, meat, bean spouts and occasionally a little scrambled egg. It is horrible for you of course-- fattening but man are they good!!!!!!! :)

    The mock fried rice is listed under recipes-- I bought the stuff and I think I am going to make it tonight ! Only thing is dh wont eat it I'm sure.

  7. Did I tell you all I am getting my second fill thursday! I have little to no restriction so I am hoping to get restriction thurs. I missed working out today b/c our furnace and pipes are freezing! I have been helping dh all day. I did an extra long work out yesterday and my legs are sore! I am hoping to go tomorrow!


  8. Hmm- what time is the superbowl?? I know we wont watch it b/c no one here likes sports, well I think my 4 y.o. does but thats it. Dh likes rock climbing, hunting, fishing , caving, but not really any team sports. I am from Northern Indiana and the Colts are our official team but the Bears always have been too since they are technically closer to us. So either way my team wins! =)

    Good luck Nat- let us know if they show! LOL "the man" will be the only one that shows up I bet! LOL =)


  9. ok I think my challenge will be exercise this month too as I really dont have any restriction so I not really losing too much. I do go for my second fill on Feb 8th! I am hoping I will have some restriction then. So for Feb I would like to exercise 20 days of the 28 days of Feb. I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week so that can be hard. My job involves alot of walking but alot of sitting sometimes too depends what is going on. I do have a gym at work to work out in but most of the time I am too busy. I love my gym I go to though it has free child care which is such a blessing!

    Now onto Breakfast ideas -- Protein Shakes or bars are always quick but not that tasty. I like yogurt, whole wheat toast (if you can get it down) with Peanut Butter ( real pb not Jif) I have a great recipe for Quice Here it is--

    Get a frozen pie crust- bake it covering the edges for 5-10 min at 350. Beat 10 eggs and 2 T. of mild together. Add a can of mushrooms or fresh. Diced onions, green pepper, tomatoes or what ever you like. I also take brown and serve sausage links or patties and nuke them for a 20 seconds then I press them between paper towels to get rid of some extra fat. Chop them up and put it in the egg mixure. Dump all that in the pie crust and cook at 350-375 for about 35-45 min whenever it is done Last sprinkle with cheese. This is good warmed up so you can make it the night before if you wish. I usually make this for my family and I eat the inner part and leave the crust. It is very filling and high in Protein. I think you can also poor this type of mixture in muffin tins and make egg muffins out of it but I have never tried it.

    oatmeal is good and warm this time of year-- I know it is best to get "steel cut oats" b/c it is healthier and doesnt digest as fast so it is a better carb.


  10. Well my fill was not under floro and I didnt feel restriction and now 3 days later I am feeling some restriction. Not alot but it is harder to swallow stuff I was eating before. It kinda sits there not painful but a pressure and then after a min it goes away. For those who have or have had restriction is this what I am suppose to feel? I do still feel like I could eat a large amount if I tried. I havent but I was thinking about trying to help me figure this out. So when you feel full with restriction is it that you are just not hungry or do you feel full like I cant eat another bite full. So far I am eating my small portions I dont feel hungry but I dont feel full either. I just stop b/c I dont want to hurt my band or gain any weight! =) Thanks for your help everyone I am just trying to figure this out! Jill


  11. Nat- no problem not offended. Are you from upper or lower MI?? I am in indiana but only about 15 min from MI. Good luck with your hair I want mine done so bad but I can never find the time. My "spare" time is at the gym usually an hour a day so I feel bad asking dh for more time for my hair. I know he would give it to me but he hardly ever gets any down time. He works long hours and spends every other free moment with the kids and I. He gets his down time Oct- Dec that is when I become a "hunting widow" Post us a picture so I can live vicariously (sp) thru your new cute do.

    Kirsten- I feel your pain about the scale I am right there with you. I am doing everything I can. I need a second fill I think.

    I do think I feel a little more restricted today for some reason. I havent eaten enough to tell today. Does anyone know why we dont feel restriction and then a few days later or sometimes even a week later we suddenly get restriction??? It is so weird to me
