    -28 lbs!

Yikes 30lbs? I did the exact same thing though. When I went to mcdonalds I was in the mindset "Oh it might be the last time I eat this, might as well have the double quarter pounded with extra cheese" Yeah not so good lol. I think I gained like 15lbs though, which isn't that bad I guess but considering we're having wls it probably wans't a good idea lol. =(

Does your port still feel like a bruise?

Mine only really annoys me when I'm shaving my legs - So annoying lol. My port is on the right like half a hands length under my boob and everytime I bend over to shave my legs it's pretty uncomfortable. I think the port site will always be tender though because you have something stitched into the muscle. As long as it's not like causing major pain all the time then I wouldn't worry too much, but like the second person said, talk to your doctor next time your in if your really worried about it.

    I'm wondering...

I'm 6 weeks out and basically eating the same thing as before - With the exception that I now eat breakfast lol. Like yesterday this was my diet B - 2 egg omlette with cheese L - Piece of fish, crumbed - Not sure what size because I don't measure, I just go on how full I am as to whether I need/want to eat more which I probably shouldn't do - Didn't have any vegies with it either which was kinda stupid. D - Chicken roll roast thing lol - Basically like 3/4 cup of chicken with some vegies.
  4. Omg amh, he popped it? That's crazy. Understandable that your sleeping heaps though, I'm 6 weeks out and I find if I get woken abruptly now it takes me about 2-3 days to get my sleeping pattern back to normal and not be tired. Tiredness is just normal after this surgery, heaps of people have it. Just remember to rest, keep up your fluids so you don't get dehydrated and walk if you get pain instead of taking the gas x - Because technically the gas isn't in your stomach, it's in the cavity and all your really doing is putting gas-x down there when the gas isn't in your stomach, walking helps more instead. Good luck

    de - Gas Tablets

Contrary to what everyone is saying - Yes you can take them. But the gas isn't actually in your stomach, it's in your stomach cavity - Surrounding your stomach, you can't actually burp that up. The best thing to do is walk so that the air will travel and basically elleviate.

    Charlis Lap Band Journey, Perth

Hey Charli, Congrats on your surgery! Everyone with the pain is different, for me the worst pain was basically straight after surgery until like day 3. I took the panadol gel capsules for about 12 days or so after surgery - Around the 7 day mark I took them just at night to make sure I wasn't in any pain. Walking definitely helps, when I was home I just walked around our living room like 50 times to help with the pain. Around the 7 day mark I think it was though, my stomach was so uncomfortable - I was paranoid I could feel the band moving so I started walking around the living room again lol. Good luck with everything =)
  7. You know it's weird, I thought I would be totally annoyed with the amount of or lack there of food getting in lol. But I'm not. I just realise that this is something I have to do, and yes I can only get a small portion in so I make sure it's the tastiest thing I can have. Just try doing it that way maybe? Don't dwell on the amount your having because it will only depress you, instead be thankful that your not on the liquid/mushie stage still and are actually enjoying food.
  8. Simple question. Do you use a straw? Yes you do? Or no you don't? If no could you possibly post why you don't? I was told I can use a straw but then someone went on about suction so now I'm a little paranoid lol so was just wondering what others thought about it =)

    Bra question

Try wearing sports bra's without wires. Should help more
  10. Oh wow, that is really weird. Never heard of anything like that happening. Thing's are going pretty good for me, had my first fill last wednesday and the nurse put in 4cc/mls when there was already apparently 4 put in during surgery so I have a total of 8 and I have no clue what size band I have so it's a bit confusing lol. But at least it's making me eat less, that's the more important thing =)

  11. Definitely depends on the doctor/surgeon. I was told by my surgeon that he doesn't put any in during surgery. Then I went for my first fill last week and turns out he put in 4cc's. So he put another 4cc's in and am currently at 8cc's. It's just preference.
  12. All that matters is that you have focus and will power to change your life. Other than that it shouldn't matter what age you are as long as your doing this for the right reasons.
  13. Although mine is worse than yours it's actually good for me B - Omlette - 2 eggs with a little ham and cheese. Ate about 3/4 Lunch - 2 Coconut drops - 2 Strawberries - 2 small pieces of quiche which would have equalled about 1/2 a cup D - Piece of fish with some chips - All up it would of been about a cup. Snack after dinner - Another coconut drop and like 20 pistachios lol. Like I said bad compaired to most of you but good for me =) Oh and for breakfast at the moment I'm eating 4 strawberries and some yoghurt - My dietician wants me to up my fruit but when theres hardly anything nice in season it kinda sucks.
  14. Hey Pam, I never actually got any burning so I dunno what that was about? Lol. As for everything else it's definitely eleviated. And I ended up getting sick so I think that's what the tightness in the throat was. I've only had to take one reflux tablet since being banded (not that I had it heaps before just got it every now and then) and it's been great. I haven't exactly been "faithful" if you will to the band these past 5 weeks but I've realised I can't do that anymore. Last night had fish and chips for dinner - okay the chips part wasn't good but I asked my mum what kind of salad stuff we had and all we had was tomato sooo couldn't really do that lol. I baked the fish, had some lemon and a little tartare which tasted like really sweet mayo so I think I might throw it out lol.
  15. So I just had my first fill about 3-4 hours ago and was told I had 4cc/ml's put in during surgery which I was suprised at because my surgeon said he usually doesn't fill them up. Anyway he put in another 4cc/ml, had some water went down absolutely fine. Then I got home about 1pm and my throat right now just feels really tight, like I've got something stuck there. Is that an indication that I'm going to be super tight in the morning and not be able to swallow anything? I've been taking sips of water and juice since I got home but it's still there. What should I do? :wink2:
  16. Sarah.R

    Spirometer???

I didn't have to use one and I'm actually completely suprised at that. I have a lung disease with an increased risk of pneumonia/collapsed lung so I would of been in the high percentage that was meant to use one after but didn't. I guess it just depends on doctors and previous health straight before surgery maybe?
  17. Thank you all for responding. I was just in the chat and someone mentioned something about being careful with the tightness and you know it never even clicked in my head that it can take up to 2 weeks for someone to feel the fill even though I knew that. Sooo now I'm thinking that what I got was definitely too much but I might not even know for a little while. As for the throat thing - Yeah I ended up getting sick lol but I think it also has something to do with the band as well because when I first wake up I'm soooooo thirsty and my throat is sore for ages after and then it goes away around 2pm so I dunno. I'm definitely eating slower than ever and will have to watch out with this fill. If theres any sign that I'm even close to not being able to swallow I'm going straight back up to the hospital, no f*cking around this time even if it ends up being something stupid =S
  18. Hi Nene, I saw that you were done by Dr Bowden. I was done by a Dr Martin whose also at the wesley =) but I was done at the P.A lol. How are you going so far?

    cost of surgery

I was on the public system and waited just over a year but in saying that my hospital had to wait for funding for it and still didn't have it when I got done. I've heard of some hospitals waiting lists being as long as 15 years which is absolutely ridiculous. The usual amount of weight to be considered is about 50kgs over weight. But if you have things like severe co-morbidities that would alleviate with the surgery I think it helps a bit. Good luck with everything =)

How to satisfy a sweet tooth?

Honestly I've tried the light chocolate milk. It's got less fat, less sugar, more protein but it also has more sodium so that kinda sucks. I love chocolate milk - I've always had an addiction to it so at least now I can still have it (not all the time) and have the light stuff =)
  21. Hey Laura, thank you so much for what you said. I always was under the impression that they had to document it as well but when I actually went in for surgery I asked the surgeon what size and he said "Oh they're all the same, but really the bigger one" which is annoying because I knew there are like 5 different types of band. Then on wednesday my nurse said it was more than likely the johnson & johnson brand so I'm not sure exactly which one is the biggest with that but whichever it is I'm guessing that's the one I have. As for paying for my fills, I'm so tempted to do it, but I don't know of any other doctors so it's frustrating. I know a lady at my job network that has the band so I might have to ask her if she can give me her surgeons card. =) Thanks again. Next time I go in I think I might ask to read my chart. It's not like they can say no because it's about me and I have a right to know

8cc in band with no restriction

But that's the thing though, I would have no problems going up there once a month for 8 months you know? I'd rather do it slow but I guess it's a little late for that lol. I have to go up to my hospital every 3 months anyway to see my pulmonolgist Dr. So really it wouldn't be any problem but I dunno, my surgeon told me one thing and then he did another so I don't know who to listen to anymore. As for you congratulations!!! Even if you only lost 10lbs still that's great. So far since I've started this entire thing and up til now I've lost 11lbs which compaired to others isn't alot but I've never lost that much on my own so I'm excited lol. Last night when I ate dinner I can't feel much restriction as I had 2 pieces of chicken and some cauliflower and Pasta. BUT I was full for about an hour which is longer than before the fill where it was only 20-30 minutes

Lol embarassing but great for you! I've noticed my underwear are slowly slipping down as I walk so I think I need to invest in new ones lol.
