  1. I hate the feeling of coming back from vacation and having the impression of never having been on holiday after all after just three days of work or so.

Interestingly enough I started losing a bit weight again? Or maybe it'll takes more time than I thought to gain the weight back after this gastrointestinal infection attack two to three weeks ago.

  2. I'm ordering some adorable yoga/bath towels right now and equally adorable shawl/mask combo and want to treat my niece and mother to one, too.

And OMG, they're at it for almost two hours now trying to decide which one or which bundle it should be... 🙈

    lol

  3. We're home again! Luckily I have another week of vacation left.

  4. Someone please tell me it's not that weird getting bombed drinking coke zero with rum while looking at neuroradiology training cases at 9:30 PM.

    No? Yeah, well... 🧟‍♀️

      Not weird 😃

  5. Finally mustered up the courage to write that letter to my insurance about plastics. Now it's wait and see.

I'm sick today. Diarrhea, stomach ache, eyes slightly burning, feeling a bit sub-febrile, being cold all day. Went to the doctor's and got a sick leave until Thursday. Seems kind of silly during vacation but one gets the vacation days back later.

Thanks four your answer as well!

You're the second person stating that "the work was unfinished" before plastics. I guess I have (developed) a different view on this.

I certainly don't want to jump through some silly hoops again and delaying for months on end (either the pictures speak for themselves and I get approved or I'm going to self-pay and sue to try to get the money back; that's possible in Germany when you've been denied after appealing) - but it's not like this issue feels as... "urgent" like WLS did back then.

I don't feel like unfinished work (anymore?) and I don't think plastic surgery would somehow close a chapter in my life. There are chapters in life that will always continue somehow, "food issues" most likely being one of them.

Anyway, depending how insurance decides I will go for abdominal/mons lift and brachioplasty first, then breasts and thighs second. Butt, I'm not sure. Plastic surgeon claims that butt doesn't really need it. I guess I will wait and see how the butt looks in comparison to the rest when the other work is done. I don't have issues sitting or something so there is no way insurance will pay for this. Maybe lower body lift is an option after all for the first one. Not sure.

Good luck with your decision. The only thing I thought was urgent was arms! There is no way I could wear anything sleeveless without the surgery and I live in Florida. I told my doctor my goal is "cute, sleeveless dresses in the summertime!" I don't know if most docs do this but with mine you pay full price for the most expensive procedure and then 1/2 price for the rest. So it's better to do as much as possible each time. Keep in touch if you have any specific questions and I'll help you if I can.

Thank you! What my plastic surgeon offered to me is that either I can get combos because they're less pricy or - should insurance cover some procedures - to get a combo with half-self-pay so I can get e. g. brachioplasty or butt less expensive because I don't have to pay hospital stay and anesthesia then. That was one of my criteria for choosing the surgeon: does he offer combo?

There is no way insurance will cover either butt or arms because it's "not bad enough". Arms are almost never covered in Germany. In general it's getting better with WLS being covered but with plastics... forget it.

However, things are so much different in Germany when it comes to hospital stays and what post-op compression wear is available etc. - but thanks a lot for your offer. 😘

  6. First day without any rain today. Of course I went on a bike ride. It could be a tad warmer and more sunny but as long as it isn't raining, it's still ok.

I wonder if my husband will really come with me on this planned about 40 km bike ride. I invited him on komoot and I wonder if he's really going to rent an e-bike. Let's wait and see. ;)

  7. Meh, I feel unusually tensed during this vacation so far. There is too damn much on my table right now with board certification, moving again and changing team again on top. I need to start studying and time is flying by.

Plastics... I'm postponing. Again. I still haven't sent the letter to insurance. Why not? I have no idea. Fear? Not the most important thing at the moment? Or some inner part of me still being not ready for some reason? I guess a combo of it all. Damn, this stuff is important to me! I want to get my things together!

    🙄

  8. Finally going on vacation tonight!

  9. GL, I feel like a hammer has hit me on the head. Sunday's 24 h shift was beyond awful and one day of recovery is not nearly enough. I hate that jet lag feeling I often have after these shifts. Everyone deals with it but I doubt something's going to change.

I'm leaving at the end of December. No more of this **** after that. Time to bring in the new **** then though, lol.

Yes, I resigned today but even given the fact that everyone knew I would only be a 3-year add on and given the fact that I'm staying 3 months longer than originally planned... it was still a weird feeling to hand in that piece of paper this morning.

I will miss quite a few people a lot.

I don't know if it will really be better - but it will for sure be different. I'm going back to the hospital that sent me away for three years to get my board certification as a neuroradiologist.

  10. I have to work on Sunday. 24 h shift. Good thing about this: the air conditioning.

  11. I hate that heat!

It's not so much that it's hot outside but the houses and flats are heating up as well and that's what I hate too boot.

  12. Stumbled across this picture and I think it hits the spot.

  13. Follow-up yesterday was ok. That is, I have to wait for the labs though. This will take a few days.

Surgeon was pleased and told me to wean off the PPI. Ultrasound was fine. There was no nutritional counseling because vacation time but I could schedule an appointment should I want one.

I'm going to wait for the labs coming back and if there should be anything off I'm going to make an appointment. The question I had can be asked and answered via e-mail.

  14. Had my follow-up appointment today. Everything seems to be ok so far. Of course I have to wait for the labs coming in.

  15. "Leisure time" is getting more and more scarce lately as it seems somehow. Too often too tired from being on-call and I definitely need to start studying for my second board certification and there will be some rough times ahead I guess.

Going to bed soon. The work day after a 24 h shift always feels awful (like jet lag) so I better get to sleep soon to get my zzZZZzz in because I'm being on-call again tomorrow evening/night. Who else hates vacation time when half the department seems to be on holiday?

I have a follow-up appointment on Friday so I took Friday off. Also not working on the weekend and being on late shift next Monday. That means three days in a row without an alarm clock, lol.

Meh, on-call again. Moderately busy so far. Hopefully the night is quiet.

  16. Going home again this afternoon. I guess we will be home at about midnight. Luckily I don't have to go to work until Tuesday. I hate going to work the days after one comes home from vacation.

hope you had a fab time! we still aren't allowed to go on holiday here. Still pretty locked down, not even allowed to go to your own holiday/weekend house!

  17. Got my new bike! Tested it on an about 70 km ride and it's awesome. 😍

  18. Felt like crap on the last miles of my bike ride. My stomach decided to start hurting during the ride and I couldn't hydrate properly and I also couldn't eat my energy bar. Puked up the bite I took a mile later. I felt a little weird to the stomach since noon but I didn't think it would become that bad.

The last 10 km felt like hell. 😩

I feel better after coffee, a carrot-ginger soup and a protein pudding but still... wasn't fun.

  19. It's Pfingsten this weekend so today and tomorrow people will all be out in the nice weather. Not really sure if I should go on a bike ride today. There will be quite a few people out there and it's still Corona Time.

Yesterday we walked into the nearest town and at the tables outside the ice cream parlor were sitting loads of people. I guess without Corona there would've been way more people there but it seems like everyone is going crazy as soon as the sun comes out.

Also people are going to restaurants again. We definitely won't. We picked up the food and ate at home on Thursday.

Maybe I'm simply cleaning my bikes today, they need it after the last rides. 🙄

  20. I love this slightly cold and tired feeling that sets in after a workout - sitting here with a hoodie. Stomach's obviously a bit of a prima donna again tonight. Have to be careful. This just stinks because I want to eat some more after this bike ride.

  21. Weather is warm and sunny today. I guess we'll take the dog for a long walk this afternoon. Both hubby and the dog are dozing right now though. :D

I can feel yesterday's bike ride in my legs, no pain but the muscles feel different. My Suunto watch spat out a 59 h recovery time and I was wtf?? it wasn't your afterwork tour around the block but it wasn't that hard after all...

  22. Sun came out after all! 🌞

Bike ride time. There they are. Planning on getting an e-bike for pure fun rides.

ENJOY! 😄 A new bike is on my to do list right now. Everyone tells me TREK is the way to go. I know I need a cruiser type where posture is straight due to low back issues🙄. I plan to go to 2 reputable bike shops within the week to get fitted and weigh recommendations. Bikes are a BIG investment these days, but pay even BIGGER DIVIDENDS to our HEALTH and JOYFUL LIVING!! Have Fun!!!💖

I love these bikes. They're so much more fun to ride than the creaky old thing I use to bike to work. 😂

Anyway, I'm planning on a fully e-MTB (gotta love a fully, even though they're much more expensive!). Fullies are so much more comfortable.

  23. Damn, watching Mukbangs really is kind of addictive, lol.

  24. Finally two weeks off! Going on vacation this night!

      Hopefully I will!

However, we're living on a construction area so to say because house needs to be renovated, but it's our construction area, LOL. Luckily some of the major things are already done.

  25. Had an awful early dumping today. Mean thing about this: it was the same food combo I ate yesterday without problems.

      Krestel

Insnt that the worst! Ive had it happen several times to the point of me throwing up (on homemade chili no less). I have absolutely no idea why either.

TMI: I was relieved at least that I could throw up at least. I was afraid that RNY would screw up that somewhat necessary process.

The pain is the worst. An additional nuisance is that my stomach feels sensitive for hours after the episode.
