Does everyone but me have a nutritionist?

I only have the NUTs working at the center I got surgery at. You can write e-mails or call and you can talk to them during follow-up appointments.

Absolutely. I was a moderator on a board once and it's a really fine line to walk.

    Prescribed vegan diet

It's interesting that you were prescribed vegan diet post-op. I wish my NUT was that progressive. They support a vegetarian diet but not a vegan one. I ate mostly vegan before surgery and would like to switch back as soon as possible but I'm not sure if I can manage it.

    May 24 Surgery Day

I'm not working out so far. I don't have much energy and a full work day is still exhausting me pretty much. My abdominal muscles still tell me to take it a bit slower. Noticed that today when working and had to wear the X-ray protection coat. I guess I will be the desk jockey for the rest of the week. Maybe I will start running again on Monday. Some yoga, but without the abdominal work and the twisting motions.

Sure it was dumping? Maybe it was simply to early to try chicken. Could be.
  6. Is there a "mark all forums read" button hidden somewhere? I couldn't find one so far.

    May 24 Surgery Day

My stomach ache is way better. It's almost gone. This morning I could still clearly notice it, but it was almost gone after having a Protein shake and so far it really seems to be almost gone, so it's way better than yesterday. Upping the PPI seems to work. I also started the Ursofalk (in case it was because of bile reflux) capsules. I wasn't supposed to take them before week four post-op (after the liquid phase) but the surgeon said I could already start taking them three weeks post-op. The morning dose stayed down without any discomfort or problems. Just took the second capsule. The PPI capsules I still open and take the little granules with a spoon.

Aw, don't call that a stall! Don't get on the scales every day. That's a surefire way of driving yourself crazy. I won't weigh myself more often than every two weeks or so (so she says and looks at the scales ).

@ I'm feeling weak when not eating enough. I started working again today and felt like having some sort of brain fog the whole day.

    May 24 Surgery Day

I weighed myself today after surgery. I plan on getting on the scales no more often than every two weeks or so. I might be going nuts otherwise. Haha, I should make a reminder not to hop on the scales! I know it's tempting but this whole "stall thing" is driving my crazy anyway. BTW, I wouldn't consider not losing weight for one week or two a stall. I wonder if there is a definition of what a "stall" exactly is.

    May 24 Surgery Day

@ I had that once. It might be because of the fruit I mixed into it. I tried the same brand with only a few berries thrown in and was fine. At the moment I have problems eating, no appetite at all. The only thing I ate with an appetite today were some skinny Protein bites this evening. I craved something salty. They're solid but puffy and practically melt in the mouth. So far they're sitting quite well down there in my stomach.

I second that. Would be a nice feature to have.

    May 24 Surgery Day

Called the hospital today and they said to up the PPI to 80 mg per day and wait 3-4 days. I'm kind of relieved they didn't tell me "come in immediately". In addition one of our surgeons palpated my stomach and did an ultrasound so we could rule out any really scary stuff for now.

    May 24 Surgery Day

Still having some epigastric discomfort. I also don't have much of an appetite today. But then again I'm a bit anxious because I have to start working again. Hubby wrecked one of our cars yesterday (luckily he is alright!)... might be psychosomatic after all. If the discomfort gets worse I'm going to call the hospital.
  16. Hi there, just updated my weight in my profile but there is something off. It now looks like there is a weight loss of 31 kg since May which is of course not correct. I provided a different starting date (when I had my first surgery in 2001) but this doesn't seem to show?

    Mark all forums read?

Ah ok, thank you. I only use the "new content" button to read so that's why I didn't notice it so far.

    May 24 Surgery Day

I notice a slight pain/discomfort in the epigastric area in the morning (on an empty stomach?). I'm not really sure if it was there from the beginning or if it developed during the last few days. Sounds crazy that I can't tell it but it's the way it is. I'm not sure if it was there from the beginning on. Otherwise I feel fine. I'm obsessing over gastric bile reflux and type c gastritis since yesterday evening. But maybe it's still normal to have some type of discomfort in the epigastric area, who knows? My first follow up appointment is on June 27th.

    May 24 Surgery Day

It's four weeks of no raw food for me. Another week of only cooked food. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this though. Every hospital seems to manage it a bit differently.

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

I prefer sticking with the wonderful, bullying, foul mouthed, tyrannical, well informed, humorous bastards who post on this forum. Served me well thus far.

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

Obviously that's a problem. And it's the reason why I left quite a few groups in the past and I have seen quite a few boards going down the drain because more and more people left, no newbies stayed because of the cliquishness. The vets were the only ones staying, no fresh air, always the same old jokes etc. and there were less and less postings, usually about some boring and ridiculous stuff that got nothing to do with being on topic. I've seen big and active boards going down the drain and when I join a board and think "Yes, this seems to be quite a good one" I usually say to myself only seconds later "Ok, lets see how long you will stay here". I also try to find out who the drama llamas and shit stirrers and know-it-alls are and take their posts with a grain of salt and/or ignore them sooner or later. I've never (actually NEVER) seen a board or mailing list or whatever without the same old drama going on sooner or later. However, I have enough drama people in my life to deal with, I don't need this at home and in my leisure time. Yes, I know this "oh-I'm-so-tough" and "I'm-like-a-real-bad-ass" attitudes seem to be really in vogue but if I want to deal with that kind of people, I simply go to work. At least I'm getting paid for it then. I take what I need, give back some of what I know and that's it. Might be a fatalistic attitude but coming to internet boards I can't help that.

Why do some folks try to ruin this forum?

I don't know why it happens but I'm sure there are studies on this and maybe one day I'll search for them. Everyone who posts on internet boards long enough. Happens quite often. Gets on my nerves sometimes.
