    Thank you for asking...
I have Factor V Leiden as well and I'm taking Xarelto with no limitations. I am scared to have the VSG surgery because I'm afraid of clotting again. I'm still starting the process in hopes of having it. I need to do this and I'm going to but I'm still beyond nervous.

Wow, not long. I've known for about two years now. My brother had a heart attack and called me to have it checked. I was never able to get pregnant and my gynecologist told me that ,that is probably why. I adopted my daughter and wouldn't change my life for anything. Love my baby girl.

I was wondering how they would deal with this. I am glad you found out that you have it so you can do what you need to do to stay safe. So, shots in your stomach everyday? It could be worse I guess. Thank you for sharing. I feel much better knoing it's not a deal breaker. Next hurdle. .. I'm ready.

Saw my surgeon today and I am going to have it done. I have lost weight before - not this much but have done it and gained back plus some. I am hungry all the time and if I go over 1200 calories and skip running I don't lose crap. I am viligent but can't keep this up forever - my hunger pains talk and sometimes they win. He said statistically only 2.5% of people that lose weight the old fashioned way can keep it off. I am so motivated to make it this far I don't want to fail and I think this additional tool will give me that edge to maintain my healthy eating and lifestyle. He said I could be back running in 4 weeks. He said I should heal faster and recover easier than others with a higher BMI cause I have prepped myself for almost 6 months now to follow a diet and exercise plan so my head is in the game and my body is healthier. I saw my labs today that were drawn last week and they are the best I've had since my early 20's! The best news he said at the very end is no liquid preop diet for me. He said in 6 months I have already shrunk my liver and to just keep the carbs real low for the next two weeks. Surgery is March 28th. I feel so much better after talking with him and dietician again today. I am ready to do this, wish me luck!

I am beyond excited right now!!
I just finished the last of my "homework" yesterday with lab work and had an appointment coming up this week to determine what comes next... thinking that's when they'd submit for insurance approval and then I'd have an eternity to wait and see if it went through.
IMAGINE my surprise when I get a call today and they said that not only had they already submitted for approval, but it was approved and I have my date set for 2 WEEKS!!!! March 15th, baby! That's one wonderful birthday present to myself (March 7th!)

I took Phentermine from 1/2015 til just this last month. My dr started me on the low dose, 15mg I th
ink and was on that til Nov 2015 and then changed to the 30mg. I believe 37.5 is the "normal dosage". I did not have any side effects, it worked great, I was able to lose 60lbs before WLS. I just had surgery 2 days ago.

Is the question my once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to feel like Audrey Hepburn of "Roman Holiday?" I'd be a fool to pass it up. Near the end of the movie, a reporter asked which of the European cities she'd visited had been her favorite. She began a politic reply, but quickly switched gears to be true to her heart, "Rome. By all means, Rome."
By all means, the clothing exchange, six years running. It started from pure, unadulterated selfishness. A few months after surgery, I needed a new wardrobe, but knew it would be the story every two or three months. As a participant in one of the local med center's support groups, I volunteered to arrange an exchange in conjunction with a meeting. We did it twice and it was a wild success. The location was problematic, though, so I set out to identify a compatible organization to host us. Partnering with a non-profit that outfits underprivileged women who are entering the workforce has been ideal all around. What isn't adopted within our group is donated for the host's clients. The neutral site gave me the luxury of including WLS people from other med centers in the area. I've just extended the invitation to the bariatric practices' non-surgical patients -- common goals, common needs.
In the early I became aware of how much I enjoy seeing others re-outfit themselves as they go along. We have fun in the process. Even people who are uncomfortable about wearing pass-alongs stop in to bring things they no longer wear.
I'm especially grateful that it makes me happy to see people finding "new" things despite my having gone in reverse with my own program. It reassures me that I'm not done yet.

I was an alcoholic. Never thought I could deal with the stress of work, my grief and depression and life in general without drinking every day. I still have those things in my life, but now I face them sober. Turns out the alcohol wasn't really making anything better anyways.

Thanks everyone!! I really needed this accountability. I had about 4 bites of a plain, small pancake. Was not even satisfying. Sticking to my Proteins. I get anywhere from 60-80 grams of Protein a day which was recommended by my surgeon. It's just really hard to be eating the same things over and over. I'm growing so tired of the same ole same ole. But I know I'm just in the beginning, so being consistent is important to my success. No more pancakes or spaghetti o's .

ACV reacted to Ashoryb in I'm new! My crazy journey so far pre-op
    Good evening,
My name is Ashley and I'm newbie here. I never thought about joining a bariatric support group. But I do believe this will help me considering how frustrating my journey has been up until now periods I started my journey August of 2015 and I'm going to be using dr. Kim in Texas. I came into this knowing that my insurance which happens to be Cigna is very strict. I have a 53 BMI , obstructive sleep apnea, PCOS, and chronic back pain. I found the support group while I was maniacally searching 4 people experiencing the same things that I am experiencing. My insurance required three months of nutritionist verified diet psychological evaluation cardiac clearance as well as cardiac sonogram. I got all that done and submitted all my stuff to Insurance on January 14th of 2016. Cigna denied me on the 25th of January 2016 because they said I needed pulmonary clearance as well as blood work and they said they did not receive my cardiac testing clearance. Now I've gotten all that done and I just resubmitted March 1st of 2016 and now its March 11th of 2016 and I still have not heard anything. So I started searching for people who have been in the same boat as me and I found this wonderful support group and I've been reading a lot of your stories and experiences and I know by being in this group it would give me some comfort I wish I had found this when I first started. My starting BMI is 53 my starting weight is 320 and I'm so hopeful about my future. I have had a failed lap band which I got banded it in 2008 and then band removal in 2011. Gastric sleeve is a dream come true if I can ever get the approval. I know this has been long but I really wanted to introduce myself so that if anyone has a story like mine they can share with me so that I know I'm not alone.

Have you had WLS? If so, you shouldn't need diet pills. If you go back to the basics, you should be able to start losing again.
I took phentermine before I had WLS and it did work until my body got used to the medicine but that takes 6 months or so. It's pretty effective the first few months.

Hi! I have to jump through many hoops as well for my insurance. 6 months of Dr supervised weight loss plan, numerous health scans and bloodwork. But luckily the center that is doing my surgery is willing to walk through each step with me to ensure I meet all the requirements. I wish you the best of luck as well.

My insurance requires 3/6 month supervised diet. My Dr put me on diet pills a little over a month ago and I have lost 21 lbs as of the 24th of Feb. I am changing my eating habits because I have to for surgery and I just found out I'm diabetic, but is that a problem that I am doing well on my new low carb diet? If I continue to lose weight like 10-20 lbs a month am I disqualified? I'm able to because of the diet pills. I can't stay on them forever. What should I do? What would you do?
