  1. Hi all!! I am just over 3 months post-op, and am almost 60lbs down. I have hit a bump where the scale doesnt want to move much.. so my surgeon has told me to try the liquid diet for a couple days..well that is all fine and good, however, the protein shakes i have tried are ALL too sweet for me since surgery. can anyone suggest something to help? Thanks so much!!
  2. Hello! I'm going strong and working hard at this thing called weight loss and i have to say that it has been both rewarding and discouraging at times. I love seeing the numbers go down, however, every time that stall happens it shakes me into reality and how this IS only a tool for successful weight loss. I have been working out a minimum of 4 days a week the last 3 weeks, and i can tell it helps considerably! Just wanted to let everyone know at this stage that it is worth it and that you will make progress, so DON"T GIVE UP! By the way, i have lost 40lbs. It feels great! I have found eating "good" carbs are the way to go, if i am going to eat them. I mostly make protein meals and snacks, but those veggies and fruit with (natural sugar) is the better way to go. My tastes have changed in that i can't have much of anything sweet ESPECIALLY artificial sweetener. It is terrible and nauseating. I am so excited to see what the next few months bring!!
  3. Hi everyone! I am 7 weeks post op and just now really getting into eating REAL food. My question is: do many of you have times when you swallow food and immediately have a pain in your upper stomach as if it is having trouble getting into your new stomach? i feel like i have to stretch and relax and stretch again when this happens. i know i am still working on chewing my food into mush, but sometimes it gets down my throat before i can really get it chewed enough.. Any others out there?? Thanks!

    pain after swallowing

at 7 weeks out im also at a weight loss stall. idk if its from not eating enough, or eating too much of something specific.. i feel like i should have lost more by this point than i have.. i've only lost 32lbs. does that sound normal? i know everyone loses at a different pace..but something has got to give soon. it's getting discouraging!

    Early weight loss stall

i had the "3 week stall" as well! i was told by friends who had this procedure that it DOES happen, and to keep doing what im doing. i lost 25lbs almost immediately after surgery and after 3 weeks of sitting in one place on the scale, i lost another 5 pounds. Just keep getting that protein in and AS MUCH liquid as you can, and you will do fine! i still can't get all 64oz a day in and im 5 weeks out from surgery. it is a rewarding process and i can already tell i made the right decision. Just trust yourself and the process and you will surprise yourself!

There is poop and I cant poop

I've been having issues myself. I actually have been having a "knife" pain in my lower stomach. Even after nearly feeling like I was having a child last week, it has still lingered. My doctor told me today that she thought the pain was still stemming from the constipation problem. so she told me to take MoM every day until normal BMs and then miralax every other day for a while. well I came home and took the MoM and within an hour or so it was time. I've had nothing but "liquid" soooo why still have the pain?! it doesn't feel that great!

    Fluid intake

Hey there! i had my surgery on the 8th! im having to work up to 64. im probably getting about the same amount in. My nutritionist told me he'd rather me concentrate on my fluids than making sure to get ALL my protein intake. My Doctor told me today that if I was getting all 64 in by now, she would have been shocked. So if you are only 5 days out, I wouldn't worry. just do the best you can and that is all you can do. I'm having trouble myself, but the consequence to not getting all the liquids is constipation. TMI I'm sure, but i'm already having that issue. Hope this helps!!

    Surgery day!

Gas has continued to give me trouble for the last couple of days. I'm home now and last night was a somewhat peaceful night. The key is to stay on track with pain meds. I've been adding a Tylenol to the pain pill to help it last longer and it seems to be doing the trick. Walking has helped with the gas stuck in my abdomen, however, it has slowly come out on its own..sorry if tmi lol any bit of relief is a win in my book. I'm staying hydrated. Seems to be doing good, just still tired. Started back taking my vitamins today as well as getting some protein in. Protein was too much at first when I got home..it made me dry heave pretty bad. But can now tolerate it. Hoping for continued progress!!

  14. Hello everyone! I am new to this. I have been wanting this for SO long, and now it is finally here. I was denied the first time, due to one of my BMI numbers being .3 points off. That was discouraging however, I knew how badly I wanted to change my life. I have been fighting being overweight my entire 28 years. Just 2 weeks ago I was finally approved and was completely ecstatic! I had my pre-op appointments today, and in less than 2 weeks I will finally have my surgery. My main questions are this: what multi-Vitamins work the best, and also what Protein shakes and other protein sources would you recommend? Any other helpful tips going forward is also appreciated! Thank you!
  15. @@mykdzmom it seems we have the same surgeon! He seems pretty great! Can't wait!
  16. Thank you for the helpful tips! i start my 7 day liquid diet on Monday. This will be tough for me as i have headaches when i dont eat. I hope it goes well. I had heard that unjury was a good brand and my Surgeon's office told me to try prohealth bariatric Vitamins bc you'll only have to take one a day + a calcium supplement. I'm so encouraged!
