    Liquid Stage Recipes

my guidelines says cream of wheat thinned down. it is a nice change. Add some Protein powder and seasonings and it takes on a life of its own. I'm not a big time sweet eater, so I season with Mrs. Dash, sesame oil, blended tofu to make cream Soups. I read through all the pages of this link and it gave excellent ideas. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/lapband-food-stages-lists-suggestions-3995/ I am on day 7 of liquid and can't wait until i'm on pureed foods. I will measure and count everything, but want to go back to real foods. ** Sigh**

    Liquid Diet Rant

I've stopped watching tv. I can't stand the commercials all about food. So I fill my days doing something else. Read, watch DVDs, listen to music and write in my journal. Living with two teenagers is also really difficult because the microwave is constanty on and the smell of food is dancing under my nose, just like in the old time cartoons. I also noticed that your doctors see you really soon after the operation. Mine won't see me for 6 weeks for my first fill. How do I know if the band slipped, would I be really sick, or just fine? Liquid Diet Rant

Hey Green, Are you getting enough Protein? I have to 60grams per day. I found this site called Revival soy that sells shakes made with any sweetner that you like. I chose splenda. I use soy milk that is 9g of protein per 8oz, 80 calories per serving, the shakes are 120 calories per serving. My total intake for the day is 600 calories and I am getting 75g of protein. I'm not weak or dizzy. I've also ordered the plain soy powder so I can make other types of liquid and add the protein into it. Are you taking your supplements?
  7. my guide lines say 6 4oz meals a day, 60 grams of protein, and 48 oz of water in addition to what we are taking in for nourishment.

    Liquid Diet Rant

I totally agree, food is every where! I have started making shakes from Soups and tofu. They are good and satify my food cravings. My husband bought silk tofu and progresso 0 calorie soup. pureed the soup in the blender. Measured 1/2 of broth, 8 grams of tofu a drop of vegatable juice and mixed all together with hand held shake maker, than I microwaved the soup for 40 seconds. Best creamy soup. I know that I won't be able to make it drinking sweet stuff only. I found this and more ideas on this forum of a sticky thread talking about food stages. I even cried today because I was so frustrated at the commercials about food. It made my teenage sons really upset, so I wiped my nose and found away to create better tasting fluids. Fran
  9. how many calories are you supposed to be eating for your body size to lose weight. I have learned that if you don'e eat that proper amount your body won't allow you to lose weight. (Sucks don't it). BTW, i'm afraid that will happen to me too. Fran

Had Lap Band 2 days Ago

Congrats!!!!! I was banded on Tuesday. Have allot of pain from my insicions, some gas, walking helped relieve that, But no spitting up. Are you measuring your amount of Fluid? I have been told 1/4 cup over a 40 min period so I have a 1/2 cup and measure what I am intaking. Since i'm on pain meds, I started a journal and mark the time, and amount that anything is going into my mouth. I have to keep asking my kids what day it is and what time it is. There is a sticky thread that reviews what you should be eating. If your surgeon didn't give you a guide line, please email me at ladytuscanny@yahoo.com and I will be glad to send you the information that my surgeon gave me. Fran
  11. I too am a self pay. I live in Florida and from what I understand, very few if any approve any type of bariatric surgery. The cost was 16,000 but I went to the #1 surgeon in the Tampa Bay area and the the best hospital; Tampa General. This is my 5th day from surgery and it is a challenge to get all the Protein that the surgeon wants me to have. I don't seem to have a problem getting food in, I measure everything because I am afraid of overeating and stretching my new pouch. I didn't tell anyone for a long time because I was afraid of negative responses. I had tried WW for 2 years didn't lose, didn't gain. So when I announced the procedure to my monthly Bunco group, (yep, am a middle age Mom) everyone supported me except for one. She was new to the group, didn't know me or my situation. However, one of my long time friends educated her quickly. I did tell people I had to have a liver biopsy and that I was seeing a dietcian for food allergies. So when I start to lose weight, PLEASE GOD, that would be the reason. BTW, this site has been a great help to me for recipes for stage two eating. Good Luck, Fran
  12. Hi Glen, I'm wondering if you are suddenly lactose intolerante. I've been all of my life and what you are describing is typical symptoms from eating dairy based products. Gas, and smelly at that, runny stool that also smells really bad. The dietician that I had to see before the surgery sent for a very expensive blood test to confirm that I am indeed lactose intolerant. It also came up with that I am allergic to chicken eggs. I really feel for you. It is the most energy sapping feeling. I make my Soups creamy and yummy by adding tofu and blending it. It takes just like regular cream soups with all the seasonings. Good Luck Fran

    Liquid Stage Recipes

I'm so glad to have found this information about the second stage of liquids. I bought a bunch of shakes that are 100% soy, but they are too sweet for me. I like savory better. I just made Soup with seasoned tofu, duck egg, organic soy sauce, Mrs. Dash garlic/herb seasoning and ran it through a blender. It was delisious, not hungry anymore either! Thank you all. Fran
  14. Perhapse you are taking in too much in at one time. What are you eating. I really hope that you feel better soon. Fran

    Newbie from TN

Welcome, I've just had my surgery 4 day out from the surgery date. You will really need to be settled so you can have ample time to recover. It is so good to meet other people who are on the same page. Fran
  16. Hi, I'm new to the forum and 4 days post op. My surgeon talked me into the lap band. He does both prodecures, but he based it on my weight loss. I have 100 pounds to lose, so he agreed with me and said that the band would be better. He didn't try to discourage me only encourage me. I agree with everyone else, time for a new surgeon. Fran
  17. Hi all, This is my 4th day out from surgery and have been looking for weeks for a support forum. I'm so glad to have found you. I'm a 44, wife of 20 years this july, and mother or two teenagers aged 17 and 15. I've been a memeber of Weight Watchers of 2 years and didn't lose or gain anything. I finally decided to have the lap band surgery and now here I am. During my clearance I had to take a food allergy test and it was confirmed that I am very allergic to cow milk and chicken eggs. The hardest obstical I have found is that western society is milk based. So now i am learning to to eat soy. Fran Telese
