    Getting back on track?

Welcome!!!! So glad you found us!! So far my solution is walking and eating small portions more often. Also, keeping the bad stuff out of the house. Not losing crazy amount of weight either. My clothes are getting bigger but the scale doesn't show alot of weight loss. If I don't eat, I can't think. I look at the people who can starve themselves and still work and feel light headed and wonder how they can do it.

    Getting back on track?

One of the hardest things I have to face is getting the food I like to eat too much of out of the house; ice cream, crackers, and chips. I won't bring that stuff in the house anymore because I eat it. I've substitued fresh fruit, and frozen ices. I've just cancelled my appt. with my lap band dr. because i couldn't get off of work for my fill. So now I have to wait until Oct. So I am going to have to shrink my stomach on my own for now. I've been reading the nutrition thread. What I have gathered now is Protein is first and foremost. so I am going to cut my portion size (like if I had my fill) and eat more often. I have prepared for this week. My one big problem is I am allergic to whey, so any kind of soft cheese is out for me. I have to find sources of protein in other places mostly soy. Let me tell you, that gets old after awhile. So glad that there are others like me out there!

    Getting back on track?

I'm so glad to have found this thread. I too had a huge set back and had to have my band deflated. In January, I went to the ER because I was throwing up a black substance. I had a CAT scan and was diagnosed with a "thickend Dilated Esophagus". I had all of the cc's removed from my band. On top of that I was taken off all of my arthritus meds. Walking was painful, so I did alot of sitting around. I was down from a size 26 to an 18 now back up to a 24. I had my first fill, but still feel very defeated. I haven't given up and started walking again, can get in about 1 mile a day. Has anyone every considered doing a lower body lift to aide in their weight loss journey?

Yep, she does go to a Weight Watcher Group. I think she means by using WW or something else that doesn't require surgery.

I think that you've done a remarkable job in losing so much weight in 10 weeks. It has taken me 11 months to lose 28. I have my own story about what people say.... I go to bunco group once a month and every month one person tells me wasn't there some you you could have lost the weight on your own? Since Bunco is coming up soon again i've been thinking of what to say back to her. I've come up with this one, but it isn't nice "Peg, closed minedeness doesn't become you".

    Food allergies

I'm so sorry for you!!!! Perhapse you need to stay away from places that serve fish and if that isn't possible just take benedryl before going to a restaurant just to be safe. Would an epipen help?

    needing some kind of.. reassurance

I've been there and with this last fill i'm back again. Very thin people won't eat the high calorie stuff, thats why they don't need the band and we do. My husband brought home roasted chicken yesterday, I had been looking through the liquid stage part of the forum and was encouraged to try blending the chicken like a Soup and eat it. Heaven!!! Liquid stage just doesn't mean shakes!

    Meal ideas for mushies?

I've had to go back to mushies after this last fill. I never needed to do it until now. I'm so glad baby food isn't the only answer. I have an immersion blender and try to use that for now. Thanks for the infor everyone.

    trouble finding port

I wasn't able to hold anything down yesterday. I know that I should go back, but I can't stand another poking session. I'm wishing that this passes fast.

    trouble finding port

I'm glad that i'm not the only one with port troubles. I'm getting very discouraged. The clinic i'm going to is waiting for the software for a "port finder" and it is supposed to be easy to find the port. I've had 3 different dr. do my fill and it is just a matter of technique. When I have finally had enough of the newbies and ask for the experienced dr. it doesn't hurt. This last time I had air in the fill and it made me very sick. Has anyone ever had a small amount of valium before a fill? I'm thinking of asking for a small amount so I don't freak out. I've been hurt these last two times. It has been 8 days since my last fill and I have been only able to hold down food for the last 3 days.

    Bad Fill...Very Sick

    removed due to
  14. I had my third fill today. One of the associates of the surgeon was doing the fill today. He couldn't find the port and kept poking me with the needle. He must have tried at least five times and slipped off the edge twice and that hurt! The second time he did that I told him if he did it again, I was going to knock him out! Finally, he went to get the surgeon and he had to change the needle twice, but found it eventually. He told me that it would be black and blue. What he didn't tell me was that I would bleed all over my shirt and that it would hurt all the way up to my chest and in my abdomen! OUCH!!!!!!

    Bleeding from my port site

I just checked and there is some bleeding, but it has slowed down. I took a 500mg Tylenol and feel better. It was tramatic, I was shaking when I left the dr's office. I'm glad that my hubby was with me today. :tt2:
  16. I had a very aggresive 2nd fill and had a hard time swallowing. I didn't want to go back and have an adjustment because I wanted the weight loss to happen. It has been a month since the fill and I lost 2.8 pounds. I have able to eat regular food just this week. I started tracking food intake in points and found that I just wasn't eating enough. I've increased my points and added activity, bike riding and walking and I've lost another pound in the last two days. Finally, finally its working and i'm not hungry. I just pray that it continues to happen.

Finally working; I sound like a commercial

All the soy protein sold in stores has whey has an ingredient. I purchase mine from the internet: www.revivalsoy.com. They are expensive, but since I couln't get protein from any other source I paid the price. Now that i'm able to eat again, i'm only using the shakes for breakfast. They are very tasty, come in blueberry, strawberry, vanilla, cappacino, and chocolate. I use soy milk to mix them, but you could also use water. I stay away from smooties, or jamba juices. Anything that tastes so good, is surely to have extra calories in sugar. I stay away from sugar, if it doesn't come naturally in the fruit with is a high density food, i'm not going to waste my points on it :-)

Finally working; I sound like a commercial

I use soy protein shakes and soy protein bars. I also eat tofu grilled with lemon grass or any other seasonings. Also get alot of protein of lentils, and other type of legumes. For example, I have 3 oz of chicken and 1/2 cup lentils and have protein with less calories. It has been a learning experience. I've even found duck eggs to eat instead of chicken eggs. Duck eggs don't make me sick.

Finally working; I sound like a commercial

Unfortunately, i'm allergic to whey, and all dairy based products. Had to learn to eat a lot of soy. Chicken eggs is also a no no for me. Hasn't been easy but its finally working.

    Steatosis...Fatty liver disease

I eat at least 80 grams of protein a day in the form of soy. I have little or no processed carbohydrates. I am working in 1 hour or exercise. I tried to do it all in one hour yesterday and felt as if my heart was busting from my chest. I was able to get my heary rate up to 140 in 10 min but had to stop. I did accomplish one hour if I added up all the dedicated time to exercise. I've started taking the 5 hour energy drink that is full of b12 and niacin. It has helped my energy level a lot. I may have lost only 15 pounds but have definately gone down 1 whole size. Most of my weight is around my middle below my belly bottom and stops where my legs start. I wish I could just suck that right out of my body!
  21. I just came home from waiting 2+ hours to see the doctor for less than 10min. I went to talk about my fatigue and is it caused by the Steatosis. He said no, and that I MUST lose weight. I told him I had the lap band and that I have lost 11 pounds so far. He said that was fine. He wants to rule out thyroid and hepatitus. Is anyone else really tired? I have found the 5 hour energy drink the one made from b12 vitamins has helped a lot. O yeah, I have to excersise at least an hour everyday. I've worked up to 15 min on the bike next will be 30 and I must double my resting heart rate.
