    Unsupportive family?

This would drive me crazy! I'm so sorry you have to deal with that. If you are able to leave the house while they are living it up, I would. Perhaps you can go for a walk, go shopping, or go do something fun just for you. It's not cool of your husband not to be supportive during what is arguably one of the most difficult parts of the process. (It's one thing when you've got the surgery, but it's SO hard to resist temptation when you are hungry as hell and still battling major cravings before the surgery.) Sending you positive vibes!!
  2. I think the answer is different for everyone! What's right for one may not be right for another. I decided to stay quiet about it. Only my husband and one of my best friends (who lives across the country) knows. I'm a private person to begin with, and I don't like much attention, so I knew I didn't want to share this with many people. I may share with other close friends in time, but not yet. Although two in my family have had WLS, and several family friends have had WLS, my family members are notorious gossip lovers. "So-and-so looked before before WLS; he looks sick now!" - "Can you believe she took the easy way out?" - "I hate who she's become since WLS!" and on and on. Being around that negativity prior to my surgery made me determined not to share. I opted not to tell anyone at work, either, because I felt it might make others be more judgmental of what goes into my body. (Probably just my own paranoia, but still!) Here are two things I read on this forum that really helped me come to terms with my decision, and may help you, too. Take your time and make sure you feel good about your decision before sharing. You can never un-tell someone, but you can always change your mind and share later. WLS is one of the only surgeries where we feel like we are being "deceptive" if we don't tell. But we wouldn't necessarily shout a gallbladder surgery from the rooftops. It's OK not to share! Best of luck to you!!

    Nervous

I have depression and anxiety, and I was worried that that might negatively impact me, too. But the psychologist just encouraged me to monitor my anxiety and to come see her if at any point I started to feel like it was too much, and she said I was good to go. Got my surgery last Thursday. So I know you will be fine! Sending you good vibes. Best of luck!
  4. You're not alone. I felt very hungry and very faint the first few days of the liquid diet. I wasn't sure I could do it! But I did, and it definitely got easier as the days went on. Take it easy if you can (taking some time off might be a good idea, if you can spare it, but if not, try to rest at home as much as you can). You can do this!

    Help!

Congrats your surgery date! You will be great. I just had my sleeve done on 1/21. Here are a few things I would suggest bringing. Comfortable clothes. I wore comfy clothes, but also brought some to wear home. I've heard of many people just wearing home the clothes they came in. Up to you! Phone/phone charger Robe. You will be asked to get up and walk around, so you may want this to cover yourself up. The hospital provided one for me, but it was a bit small. Slippers for when you walk the halls Something that will bring you comfort. Totally optional, but my husband gave me a stuffed animal and I kept it with me when I stayed overnight. Best of luck to you!!
