  1. @@jenn1 I've been doing mostly cardio. I have stuck with major muscle exercises now, although I just started.. Squats, dead lifts, bench and military presses.. Light work out tho.. Low weight 3 sets or 10.. I haven't gotten to breaking it down to particular muscle groups yet because I may only lift 2 times a week until I cleared by my surgeon to hit it hard (he has cleared light workouts). I'm concerned about my food intake and hitting it hard.. Can't wait till Monday, my doc appointment. I'm thinking he will clear me Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. Thanks @@Dub And @@jenn1 That's what I was hoping to find out. I was told by a nutritionist that I would never be able to gain my muscle tone back since I had the surgery.. Now I know I can, I'm not afraid of hard work so I'll put in the time... Just needed to know if it was possible again.. Now I know it is.. Btw y'all look like you put in the time and effort, it inspires me to as well!! Thank you for the responses!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I understand I'm only a few months out, I'm just looking for information from people who has done it.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. First, I am so happy.. I got sleeved on 2/29 and I've lost 56 pounds... Awesome!! But to be totally honest I have lost a lot of muscle, inches and fat.. Now I wanting to know if there are anyone out there that has been lifting and is able to gain at least some muscle tone back.. Feels like I'm not eating enough calories, carbs and Protein in order to gain my lost lean muscle back.. Any input would be great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. @GrandoM74 actually it only took me about 2 weeks and I was approved.. My case worker at my surgeons office did everything for me.. UMR has paid for everything so far excluding my co-pays... I'm 6 weeks post op and what a total change it has been.. Good luck!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Less carbs and more exercise and protein... Also understand if your working out, your probably gaining muscle and losing fat... So you may just be losing inches and the scale is stalling... Which is awesome.. Good luck
  7. Thanks I'm gonna try it
  8. I'm in the purée stage now.. I'm getting around 70-85 grams of Protein in now, which is a lot better than a few days ago.. Getting around 50 oz of water.. I seen my doctor and he wanted to take an extra week.. Cuz of having the type of job I have.. What kind of purée type Proteins or foods would help me get more energy or what better helped y'all?
  9. I expected the 3 week stall but it is still playing mind games on me.. I feel so weak and tired to the point my doctor gave me another week off from work.. So dealing with the stall, feeling weak and no work is kinda messing with me.
  10. Thanks everyone!! Time for bed tomorrow is the surgery bright n early!! I'll follow up afterwards. Praise be to God!
  11. @@TheThinLife16 good luck and best wishes to you as well!! When I posted this yesterday I was really nervous... Then it went away... I'm pretty sure it will be back again soon.. What an adventure we shall have!! Lol
  12. Barry I look forward too it.
  13. Well I've been quite calm for some reason during most of this long process, now the nerves are starting to kick in... Not sure why but they are.. I think it's more that I'm wondering how I'm going to feel inside... Does a full stomach feel like being full... Drinking sips vs gulping after you work out.. That kinda stuff.. Idk..
  14. I'm on day 5.. Mine is an all liquid diet... Ive learned for so reason broth makes me soooo hungry!! So I've stuck with the protein shakes, water and sugar free popsicles.. It's easier now.. I'm just a lil tired and feel like my mind is cloudy sometimes.. Good luck
  15. I'm sure y'all seen this same ole song and dance but wow.. Day 4 of pre op diet.. Hungers gone, scale is dropping however I'm a so fatigued.. Flat out tired.. I'm not going to give in of course but how about advice on energy? My diet is all liquid.. 50 ounces of Protein shakes (Premier Protein and muscle milk) and at least 48 ounces of Clear liquids.. If energy comes back after a couple days I'm fine with that, but does it?
  16. True lots of protein!! Lol I'm sure my family will love it when I BBQ now, they'll get a lot more!! I decided not to have a good funeral, but if I did it would have been brisket.. 29th is D Day.. Thanks for comments
  17. Oh man I'm all about the meats too.. Brisket and ribs!! However I usually enjoy Smokin it for others more so than for me.. Family gatherings ect... My brother already asked me to sell him my smokers... I have 3 of them.. Ha Hope my taste don't change, BBQ is a hobby of mine..
  18. I am ready for a total life style change and currently on the 2 week pre op diet... However I love to BBQ and to cook.. Does your tastes really change? How is it different?
  19. Pre-op diet tomorrow n surgery on 29th.. I personally look forward to exercise.. But I'm guessing if we call it "being active" would change a lot of people perceptions about it being a chore.. Being a weight lifter in the past I loved it... Now I think it why I'm at this point now.. So walking, hiking, swimming and biking is what my plans are.. I'm just gonna explore what's out there this spring summer n fall.. Good luck everyone!!
  20. Mine is 48 ounces of protein shakes and 50 of clear liquids.. Oh my.. Mine starts Monday.
  21. Sounds like your doing great!! You seem to be happy so far.. Have a question tho, has anything surprised you?
  22. Wow!!! My surgery is on the 29th.. I am so thankful to have read this entire conversation!! I'm choosing to have wls because I want this tool to help me with my new lifestyle. During this process I've even finished the Marine Corp 10k in Washington DC.. However my eating has always been a struggle.. Not from sweets or fats but because of volume.. Reading this forum has given me a realistic perspective that my relationship with food and my new stomach comes with a learning curve. I didn't decide to get this surgery to keep on keeping on.. I want the lifestyle change, I'm ready for it and I will not let myself down anymore. Thanks for sharing your opinions and experiences... It truly helps!
  23. Oh my gosh... I'm think the pre op diet is gonna kick my butt!! I'll do it tho..
