Anyone have braces on their teeth?
Just got braces today (hate them already!!). But just wondering what good food choices you've made to make both your braces AND your band happy? (cuz all I want is ice cream at this point!)

Dr. Bryce Schuster - Dr. Schuster
I'm glad you have had a positive experience with him. Mine has been quite the opposite. He doesn't really seem to understand the psychology behind LapBand patients, which is as important as being able to perform the surgery (IMO). I dread every visit. I feel like a 5-yr-old waiting for my punishment for being bad.

Anniversary Challenge
you guys are so amazing to me! and truly inspirational! i usually just lurk around here on the boards, and don't usually post my meager 37-pound loss. But just wanted you guys to know that your successes touch more lives than you can imagine. Thanks for helping me keep my chin(s) up!

weight loss & plateaus
I even exported my food journal to Excel and printed it to take to my last fill appt. He really liked the site (and that he could keep an eye on me!)

weight loss & plateaus
I've been on a plateau for awhile. Lately, I've been tracking my food intake on www.livestrong.com and it really does help. Do you use an online system, or good 'ol paper and pen?

Friday Weigh-in: March 27
I'm down 1.5 lbs this week ... and that's EVEN with a trip to Hershey, PA. No wonder they call it the 'sweetest place on earth' !! I was like a kid on crack!

Post your NSVs
You guys are so adorably awesome!!! My NSV from last week: was on four different planes and didn't need a seatbelt extender on any of 'em ... even the tiny, little prop plane! YIPPEE!

Band not 10cc but 14cc
I don't even know how big of a band I have. How do you know? But I do agree ... it is very much a personalized event.

shoulder pain?
My doc told me that when it happens much later on (meaning not JUST after surgery), that it's because your diaphragm and shoulder run along the same nerve endings, and your diaphragm spasms when it tries to process too large a bite of food. That spasm travels up to your shoulder. It can be VERY painful. I have found that a heating pad works best for me (even better than Advil). Hope this helps.

Seventh time's a charm?
"but I get severe shoulder pain if I eat too much." I get that too! My doc explained that it's a muscle spasm from the diaphragm upwards. I find that a heating pad helps ease it better than Advil. What do you do when it happens?

Seventh time's a charm?
thanks for the encouragement! We discussed my food choices (in the journal I printed) in great detail. My biggest weakness is that I never eat at home ... it's all at restaurants. He asked me to spend another 6 wks focusing on good food choices, and that he thought it was better to then decide what kind of fill I need because a little weight loss by that point would make it more loose (and a fill would then be needed). So I went to the grocery last night (first time in forever, as stupid as that sounds), and bought some healthy items and easy stuff to make at home. Wish me luck!

Seventh time's a charm?
I have a dr. appt. today. I am hoping to get a fill because I am not really feeling much restriction at all. He didn't give me a fill at the last appt. because I didn't bring in my food journal and weight tracker. I am NOT forgetting them today! I hope that a fill will put the restriction in my BRAIN, not just my stomach. Know what I mean?

Friday Morning Weigh-Ins - Friday the 13th of Feb
I'm the same this week. Wonder why? Could it be the layer of dust on the treadmill??

Need Your Support Right Now :(
"aw, Amy, hang in there - you'll get there!!" ... copied it right from your post! I'm good at following directions! hahaha! (just kiddin around) But seriously, I completely understand. I finally hit the 20-pound mark last week and also had my surgery in August (the 26th). I was convinced (before surgery) that all these pounds would just melt away after surgery. I have had a huge dose of reality since surgery, and am finally making peace with the fact that it's up to ME and only ME. A hard reality, although it seems like common sense, for me to acknowledge. But as they say, the first step to solving your problem is admitting you have a problem. Just check in here regularly and we'll keep an eye on each other, okay??!! Take care!

Friday Morning Weigh Ins - 16th January 2009
I have a hard time with solids for breakfast too. I can do scrambled eggs, but to me, that's what I consider a 'slider' food since they go down easy. I'm down 20.5 pounds total! yippee! (not a lot compared to some of y'all, but i'll catch up some day!)

Friday Morning Weigh in - 5th December 2008
I am just in awe of how much weight you guys have lost since August! (and a little jealous, of course!) I just need to find that "sweet spot" too with the band. I was hoping for restriction by now. But I refuse to give up! Been thru too much to give up on it! Have a great weekend!

Friday Morning Weigh in - 5th December 2008
I stayed the same this week. I don't feel any restriction at all when I eat, so I moved up my next fill to 12/19. Maybe the third time really will be the 'charm' !

Friday Morning Weigh In - 28th November 2008

Losing hope :-(
I feel ya! I'm down 16 pounds, but when I read the weekly weigh-in thread, and people have lost SO MUCH, it makes me depressed. Can those SUPERSTARS share their tips? I'd appreciate it.
