I was totally being serious. I am Mexican and make my own pinto Beans often. They are delicious. The refried black beans from Trader Joes are phenomenal. Much easier and more efficient.
I totally agree and I am a latina.

  2. I'm reading all this intake of food and it's kind of hard to follow all because it's the same when you live with full Hispanics/ Mexicans in the fam. Everyone looks at me like I'm drinking weird stuff..... I'm interested to know who is going thru this same issue( example I'm drinking chicken broth(box) for my preop diet and my husband tells me just isn't better you male your own "caldo de pollo" which is chicken stew.... uuuuuuhhhhhggg

  3. SassyNanny,

I have also lost the same amount as you I just saw my surgeon last Thursday and had all my blood work done . My bloodwork came out good except I need more Protein .

I have thrown out a lot of clothes and yes clothes do fit me big but I guess I was hoping to of lost more than I have.

I do also have premier shakes but per my nut I will start having a shake at least 1 time a day.

I have not been able to attend a supporting yet but I will this month. Have you attended any support groups ?

So far I have attended 2 and they are pretty informative. Mine are a mix of pre op and post op and vets that have kept the weight off for year plus.

  4. If you aren't drinking or eating enough Protein, the simple solution is to drink Protein shakes, then you kill two birds with one stone.
I wasn't commenting for help. I was just letting the original poster know they were not alone... In their situation with stalling.. The original poster wanted comments as it was their post.

I know what I'm doing wrong and never said it was right but nor should I be chastised by people that are not my doctor or that don't have a degree in this area...

Yes it's a public forum... if I made the topic I obviously want comments but I didn't I was commenting...

And I didn't say I don't want comments. I simply stated I didn't want that particular person talking to me? Why would I want a negative person talking to me? I have a right to say that... On a public forum...

My post didn't say I never meet my goal I just stated its difficult for me personally to do so. You don't know my story or my struggles to be completely rude and make sarcastic comments. I'm not here for negativity like some of you who think this forum is for you to bully others because they don't get enough Protein or water! We all know to do it. But not everyone is the same, everyone has different struggles and honestly if you can't make constructive comments then they shouldn't be made. It is a forum for the public but it not a "bully people forum" last time I checked.

I totally agree with you as I myself have received unwanted criticism and also had to speak up for myself. @@Fame your post was rude and condescending .

I am 4 months out and have a very difficult time getting in enough Water and protein not because I don't know that I am supposed to but for some reason find it difficult to do so.

  5. Hmmm. I will try some yogurt. And the Isopure Green Tea sounds pretty good for now and maintenance. I just want to know why I'm so hungry. My tummy won't stop growling.

I am 4 months out and have been hungry with a growling stomach since the 2nd week. I went to a support meeting and found out that 2 people that had the sleeve done around the same time as me have very little hunger, My MD told me to find out if my surgeon removed the hunger hormone from me and if not she will prescribe a diet pill to remove the hunger.

I am freaked out about that cause what was the point of surgery....I should not need to take a pill to curb my hunger which by the way is all the time.

  6. it depends on the source of the carbs. Look I did not get fat eating carrots or lima Beans. or even bananas. so as my NUT recommends I have added them in, keeping in mind my daily carb allowance. even oatmeal. this is not the same as having candy, or chips, or cake. You will loose weight if you are eating balanced, healthy FOODs and not food products.

Its so hard to not have carbs when they are in everything I eat. Even oatmeal so I don't worry so much about them. I just try and make sure that they are as low as possible . My nut told me no fruit because there is too much sugar but I have a Halo or Cutie or 2 almost every day. I don't actually eat them just suck the juice out. Sounds weird but it satisfys me. Everyone is different,

In my opinion, you would be better off eating the halo or cutie rather than just sucking out the juice. The juice is where all the sugar is and the flesh and pulp is where you get the Fiber. You might as well just be eating straight sugar if you think just sucking out the juice is somehow a good alternative. SMH.

I know everyone has there own opinion's but I was told by my Nut to not eat the halo because it has to much pulp which is not good for my sleeve. Her suggestion and also my surgeon suggestion was if I wanted to have one only suck the juice out so I do.

I am 4 months after surgery.

  7. We are almost exactly the same. I think you are doing fine. If you are like me, your just impatient. I'm still looking for a magic pill where all the weight is gone over night.

I find that I am the most hungry when I'm bored. I know that has to be head hunger, but don't know a good way to stop it. When I'm super busy I have to remind myself to eat something.

I am the same as you...When I am home I am bored and just am hungry all the time but if I am out doing something or at the gym I am fine.

And yes I am very impatient and even though I know I shouldn't I weigh myself almost every day and am frustrated when I go from 200 to 200.6 And it seems like it will never go below 200. Ugghhh

  9. If after making sure that you aren't getting too few calories or too many calories, especially cabs, then you might try going on the pre-op diet or do a 5 day pouch test. I know I was stuck for over a month with no weight loss and I realized it was due to nuts so I cut them out as I can't control myself with them and began losing again.

What is the pouch test ?

  10. So I was sleeved June 30th and u lost 40lbs in the first 4 weeks.i have only list 10 more lbs since then. My appetite is a little lighter but definitely not what I expected. I just got a personal trainer so hopefully that helps. I'm pretty discouraged

I was sleeved Nov 10 2015 and I know what you mean about the appetite. I didn't know I would be hungry all the time but I am.

  11. Lisalisa1212. I am 5 months out and have gone from 268 to 199, so I don't think you are doing too bad. I had a stall that started about a month ago that lasted for three weeks and even now I'm loosing again, but it is really slow. I think the days of loosing 10 pounds per month are over. A lot depends on your starting weight, what did you loose before surgery, your sex, and age. It is hard to compare yourself to others.

DrPitt2b you seem to be on much more than a stall. Have you talked to your Dr about the results?

Before surgery I weighed 260 and lost 11 lbs post surgery. I am a woman.

  12. I must admit, I kinda gave up for a while. I was watching my carbs and getting in my Protein with no success. I have never been great at Water though. Could that one factor cause that much of a problem?

I was not able to get in my Protein and stopped drinking my Protein Drink but my nut told me I should drink at least 2 a day.....Some days I do but mostly I drink 1 before I go to the gym. Have you tried drinking the Protein shakes ? I drink premier vanilla add some sliced banana's a few spoons of yogurt and cinnamon.

  13. I am 4 months 8 days since sleeve surgery and I feel like my weight loss is going very very slow. I joined the gym and work out 2 hours a day 6 days a week have 1 to 2 premier shakes a day eat very little and have a very hard time drinking more thatn 3 16 oz of watter a day.

I found out prior to sleeve that I have thyroid and was put on a very low dose of med and just found out that my thyroid is now normal but I have to continue on meds.

Started off at 260 lbs and now weigh 200 but the scale has not gone down in at least 3 weeks ... I am always hungry.

Sorry for the rant ... just frustrated,,,,
