  1. Good question. On my paperwork there is no end date so I assume forever, lol.
  2. CONGRATS on your surgery. I'm glad you are feeling better. I know what you men about the gas pain. I can't imagine having the flu on top of that.
  3. I had to have an EKG too and I don't have any health problems it's just a requirement for all his patients to get one during pre-op appointment.
  4. I've only been banded 3 days but the last 2 have been awful with those gas pains. I do feel it's getting better the more I walk though.. Hope you feel better soon.
  5. There is no way I would be able to go to work so soon. I'm sooo glad I took 3 weeks off now. Feeling ok again seems so far away  Best of luck on your surgery! Look forward to hearing how it goes.
  6. Right now I don't care what it is called but it hurts like HELL! I don't want to scare you but I wasn't prepared and I was very worried about the pain, if I knew how bad it could be then I wouldn't have worried as much. I think I have an average tolerance for pain and before I take my pain meds I am at about a 8 out of 1 through 10. I am taking others' advice and hoping it gets better by the day.
  7. I have 4 little incisions and 1 pretty big one. They are covered with steri-strips. I had the same exact fears as you as far as what if I don't lose. But I tell you what, I had to force myself to eat a Jello today and I am full so you will lose weight. You'll do fine!
  8. I guess I was still out of it! I meant to start this thread in Post-banded. Maybe if a mod see's this they can move it for me.
  9. Hi everyone. I'm still real sore and with every move it feels like I'm pulling or tearing someting so I'm going to make this brief. Yesterday I had my surgery at approx. 1:30 ish. I remember getting wheeled in the hallway to OR then they put some "stuff" in my IV and that was it. I woke up in recovery still drugged, throat killing me and begging for pain meds. Got to my room, slept off and on all night mostly off though, lol. Had upper GI this moring (the crap you have to drink for that is soooooo disgusting:scared2: ) no leaks and Dr. said everything looks great so I was released from Hospital. I have read on here how people go back to work in like 2-3 days. OMG I guess I am a huge baby but there is no way I could. I'm in pain especially where my biggest incision is. It drained a lot too. The pain liquid stuff I'm on helps to take the edge off but I still feel everything. I am so glad they made me stay the night in the hospital and so glad it's over. Oh and with all the IVs and gas and stuff I gained 6 pounds in hospital. Sooo....where are the other 3/3 banders at???? Thanks for all your well wishes! :smile2:
  10. If that's like the stuff I had to drink, I drank half the bottle then 2 hours later the other half. I just chugged it both times to just get it over with.
  11. It's a "bowel prep". Basically it makes you go #2 to clean your insides out, I guess. It tastes awful and havent went yet so we'll see.........
  12. I'm scheduled to be at the hosptial at 8:00 am (3/3). At noon today I drank half the bottle of citrate then at 2 pm I will drink the other half. No more food just clear liquids here on out then after midnight...nothing. I'm nervous but excited. Can't wait to hear how everyone is doing in a couple days.
  13. I have BCBS FEP and I didn't have to be on any kind of diet. Just have BMI of 40.
  14. I was fine until this morning. Now I'm soooooo nervous. Speaking of last meals, man....I have been really pigging out :huggie: I only have 2 more things on my "list" to eat and today Is the last day I can. Guess I better get dressed and head to the store, lol. Best of luck to all of us!:w00t:
  15. afbflf~ thank you so much for your story. I love reading all the details of peoples' experiences. My surgery is Monday March 3rd . Today I plan to pig out :w00t:, lol. Tormorrow I have to eat light breakfast and then at noon I drink that Citrate stuff and another bottle at 4 and then that's it :cheers2:. I go in to the hospital at 8:30 a.m. Am I scared........HECK YA! :huggie:
  16. I was at the end of my seat reading your posts from beginning to end. I am sooo glad you are feeling better!!!!! YEAH!
  17. I had to take my shoes off. I had to have a BMI of 40. As far as weights.......those ones maybe that go around your ankles, like walking weights, and wear pants. There are some posts on here somewhere with ideas that helped others out.
  18. Now that you mention it........ at my pre-op they gave me a cup for a urine sample. They told me bring it in with me the morning of surgery with 1st "sample". I thought it was for a pregnancy test but maybe not, or both.
  19. I'm going to add mine to Fat Free Mootopia Milk and now I will make the shakes that were posted above too, great idea!
  20. Hi and welcome here! Can't wait to hear about your surgery, I'm right behind you so I want details, lol! P.S. I live in San Antonio, Texas.
  21. That is great! I'm so going to use that line! LOL Lauren, I'm pretty much in the same boat with you. I'm doing this pretty much by myself, well I should say totally by myself. My only friend is in CA, the 2 people at work I did tell at work look at me like a freak now and both said, "oh your funny, you don't need it, just stop eating". My husband dosen't want me to do it and if I'm in any pain or discomfort after surgery I need to make sure he dosen't know about it because he'll think/look at me like "I told you so", or "you didn't have to do it you know"! Won't say it out loud but I know his looks and the way he thinks! We are here for you and joining the hospital support group or somthing like that will help a lot too I'm sure.
  22. The only one I know of is this website where my Dr. instructed me to get mine from: Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients
  23. We must have the same book, lol. I spoke to the nutrionist who completely broke everything down for me and explained at all in my terms. Every day starting at 2 weeks post op I HAVE to have 60 grams of Protein. So she gave me a list of drinks and how much protein. For example: EAS 100% whey Protein Powder-one scoop of that is 23 grams of Protein. Put that in a glass (8oz) of MOOTOPIA SKIM MILK, which is 14 grams of protein to total 37 grams of protein in that one drink. Do that 2 times a day and you got it! You can get the powder from HEB (or grocery store), WALMART or Sams Club. As far as liquid stage. I have to drink 64 oz of Water a day. So that is 8 sports bottles worth. So that is how I am going to keep track and becasue we can't gulp the Dr. told me to sip ALL DAY LONG! Also she said you can use crystal light and that "counts" as water. I was very panicked too but I just asked lots of questions. Hope this helped a little. P.S. Here is the website I am getting my Vitamins and Protein Drinks and powder from. Bariatric Advantage - Nutritional supplements, Vitamins, Proteins, and Help for Gastric Bypass, Distal, Lap Band, and Duodenal Switch Surgery Patients
