  1. Hi everyone. Happy Saturday! Did anyone have to stay the night after their Lap Band surgery? My Dr said he makes all his WLS patients stay at least 1 night and 2 if GB. Just curious to why??? If you did stay, what did they make you do or not do that couldn't be done at home? TIA
  2. HI. 1/19/08 I went to my free seminar on. LOVED IT! 2/8/08 1st Dr. Appointment with Dr. Cavazos, Psych eval. and appointment with nutrionist. 2/18/08 Approved by my insurance (BCBS FEP) 2/21/08 Pre-Op appointment with EKG and bunch of lab work. Good to go. Surgery scheduled for 3/3/08.
  3. Hi, I'm in San Antonio too. I know what you mean about taking control now. I weigh 242 and have a BMI of 39.1, I know a year from now I'll be at least 265 so I want to nip this cycle in the bud NOW! What Dr. are you seeing? I'm with Dr. Cavazos and am having my surgery at NE Baptist. P.S. Was it hot enough for you today, lol ? It does not feel like Feb. at all.
  4. You would think that Blue Cross Blue Shield would have same requirements no matter what state and or Company you have it through. I mean BCBS is still BCBS.
  5. You look wonderful! Congrats on an amazing job from the weight loss to out of your wheelchair! :tt2:
  6. I'm right there with you.....surgery on 3/3 and very nervous, excited and scared too. Wishing us easy recovery and slimmer bodies to come.
  7. My Dr.s office has an office manager that deals strictly with insurance companies and also knows the in's and out's, luckily! I was APPROVED, YIPEE!
  8. Hi, welcome to the boards. There is a lot of us on here from Texas also. Great job on your weight loss already. How do you feel? I'll be having my surgery on March 3rd. :cheers2::ohmy:
  9. Mike~ welcome to the boards and congrats on getting "banded". That's great you don't feel any hunger. That's one of my biggest fears of getting my band. I LOVE  food and what happens if I come home from surgery and just can't help it and scarf down a hot pocket or someting, lol. No but really, I'm kind of feeling sad about having that freedom taken from me. Anyways, congrats again and look forward to hearing your progress. Oh, one more thing. Do you drink Water? If you do then how much and how do you do it and if you don't how do you not dehydrate? Stupid question but curious. Thanks
  10. March 3rd is the day! I'm nervous and excited but SOOOOO scared. I'm worried that I'll be in pain 24/7 for the rest of my life and wont be able to go back to work, etc...... I told my boss today that I needed 3 weeks off but what happens if I'm not OK at 3 weeks post-op? I lift very heavy boxes and stuff like that. Also, I have my pre-op appointment next Thursday, are they going to do an EKG? I hope they do, ya know to be safe, lol. In the paperwork I got it talked very briefly about my diet after the surgery and it said Water, chicken broth and sugar free Jello for 2 weeks. I thought you HAVE to be on liquids for first 4 weeks??????? Also it says I'll probably be staying in the hospital for 2 days. I'm wondering if this was a generic letter given to all WLS patients and that part is meant for Gastric Bypass Surgery patients. I have so many questions I know and I'll have probably 50 more before my pre-op appointment. Tonight I'm going to do serious research on this site and try to ease my mind a bit. :confused2:
  11. I have BC/BS FED Basic and the office manager at the surgery center told me that BCBS FEP has a "special department" now that handles nothing but Weight Loss Surgery. As soon as my Dr.s office got the OK from my psych eval they called BCBS up and got approval right then and there. The office manager told me that BCBS FEP is one of the easiest to get approval for IF you meet 40 BMI. They don't require a 6 month diet or anything like that. I went to my seminar like 3 weeks ago, had 1st appointment with Dr., dietician and psych eval about 2 weeks ago and got the call from Dr's office with surgery date yesterday.
  12. :biggrin::eek::thumbup::eek::eek: YOU SCARED ME!
  13. Wishing you tons of luck and prayers going out for you. Look forward to hearing all about your surgery.
  14. HI! Good luck for Friday, everything will go fine. Look forward to hearing all about it when you are up to it.
  15. arde07~ HI.... I'm another Texan. WOW, you have had great results in your weight loss. WTG! I hope I can do as well as you. If you don't mind me asking, who did your surgery in S.A. ? Thanks
  16. Hi, we got a new boxer puppy and we are having the hardest time house training her. At first we let her roam as she pleased downstairs at night when we went to sleep but man was that a mistake so our vet suggested crate training. So my husband thought it would be "nicer" if we just put her in the laundrey room at night, he said, "it's like a big crate". UMMM OK! Well she has her toys and blanket and bed but she cries and scratches at the door for at least a couple hours. It breaks my heart . Does anyone have any suggestions? Also, she will be in the laudrey room for about 5-6 hours during the day. So will she cry the whole time???? Thanks so much. P.S> I love her to death already but my other 2 dogs didn't go through this (I guess I was VERY VERY lucky) so 1) I'm not used to it and 2) I'm wondering if I'm in over my head.
  17. Sadie~ I have my surgery on 3/3 also. You must have read my mind, I have been thinking about this all day. I'm going to miss food so much  I can't imagine sitting at my computer and not grazing. Best of luck to us.
  18. Mine was very very simple: she asked me why I want to get the lap band, and then handed me a 400 questionaire. Yes 400 questions. It's called the MMPI and it asks some pretty lame questions like "would you rather be a forest ranger or a florist ?" What that has to do with me not wanted to be fat anymore is beyond me, lol It's really no biggie and you'll do fine.
  19. Suzanne~ I know what you mean about the "monster out of the cage". My monster is out of the cage and completely out of control. Great job on losing! I hope I have the same results as you.
  20. Congrats! I'm so excited to hear all about it!
  21. Hi, welcome to the board. I'm new too and addicted to this site, lol. I'm waiting on approval now. You have a lot of things going for you and it seems that getting the surgery won't be a problem with insurance; which is a blessing! I'm so sorry about your loss. There is hope. My friend had 2 miscarriages and her OB/GYN said she needed to lose weight and get "healthy". She lost the weight and now has a beutiful 3 month old baby girl named Olivia. Keep us posted and it's great that you decided to follow your Dad's footsteps and have his support.
  22. I agree, send them the copy of the approval letter, letter by Dr. or the letter the Dr. got from Anthem, send those copies of those approval letters and a nice little note about retaining an attorney! You can win this. Hang in there and keep us posted.
  23. And your first born too, right? That criteria is ridiculous. Like someone said before I think some plans make it hard so it will discourage us and we will decide not to do it.
