  1. What I was going to say exactly........

The two hardest things for me have been to stop using a straw, and to stop chewing gum. Dr says that when you do either, you end up swallowing a lot more air. I still do both but not that often. When I do though, I do notice a bit more gas.

  2. Hi, I know how painful an over fill can be. I got a fill about a month ago but all of sudden I had the same problems as you. I thought I had a slip so I went to ER Saturday. They did a barium swallow and I was way to tight! They took 2 cc out of the 5cc I had in there. I immediatley felt better! The Dr told me it was good I got an unfill because all the throwing up would have made my band slip or worse made my bottom portion of my stomach come up through the band. I love losing the weight and feeling full but I feel 100% better now. I might get one more fill, maybe 1 cc but thats it. The pain and scare was horrible!

  3. Hi all my March Bandster friends:biggrin:

    Everyone is doing so great!!!!!!!

I had to respond about the relationship issue! My DH and I have been married 11 years and we are now seperated. I aksed him to leave about a week ago and I am so happy. I'm not sure with the weight loss if it gave me some super power or something, lol but I just do not want to be unhappy in any aspect of my life anymore! I'm scared to death what to do next but I'm taking it one day at a time. One happy day at a time.

Congrats to all of us :tt2:

  4. Hi everyone. I have a quick question: I've had pretty good restriction with the same fill for about 2 months. All of the sudden one day I woke up and felt hungary so I ate (duh!) well I was able to eat about twice as much as usual and it's been that way for a couple days now. Do you think my band slipped or something? Thank you so much to anyone who can help because I'm kinda worried now.

  5. I kind of did mine backwards.....I had a Tummy Tuck done about 3 1/2 years ago then I gained all the weight.....then I got lap band. My tummy is now flat again (Thank God). My surgeon was Dr. Gary Lawton. He is a great Dr. and have had many people I know use him for various surgeries and all of them have had nothing but GREAT results.

Michelle~ How is your journey coming along???

  6. I know it seems impossible now but it can be done. I was addicted to Diet Coke more then one can imagine. I thought I would grow old and die with a 32oz. fountain Diet Coke in my hand, lol. After my surgery the pain meds made it so I didn't have those headaches and it's been 8 months and haven't had any carbonated drink. Really can't imagine going back to drinking liquid sugar that most likely would hurt my stomach.

    You can do it!

  7. So glad to find this! I'm in San Antonio and was banded by Dr. Sonny Cavazos at NE Baptist. I think he's just great! I've talked to a few of you on other threads...but glad to find the rest of you!

I'm one week post op and still on liquids but feeling fine. I go for my first fill Oct 9. Very exciting!

Dr. Cavazos did my surgery also. I'm so happy with him! Great job on your weight loss! He'll be so proud

  8. I remember when I was at a seminar this lady who was about 100 pounds heavier then me, looked me dead in the face and said, "what are you here for?" I was shocked!!!!!!! HOW RUDE!!!! It's no ones business why I want to go under the knife unless they plan on paying for it. I was 250 at my first weigh in and my height is 5'6". My isnurance paid for it because my BMI was 40. My Dr. told me that the way I was going I would weight 300 pounds in a year and it would just get worse and worse. I wanted to finally do something proactive with my life. I could care less what anyone thinks (saying that in the nicest way :) )on why my Dr. and I thought this was for the best for ME. I would do it over a million times over and recommend it for anyone who is not happy with themselves and dieting does not work for them.

  9. I agree....2 days IMO is not enough time to get used to a 3rd fill. I had no problems with my first 2 fills and for my third it's been a nightmare. I had to get an unfill and can't imagine what I would have done if I was out of town. I am still dealing with a lot of puking, terrible heartburn and can't eat anything more then Soup and only about a 1/2 cup at a time. Sometimes I'll drink some Water and immediately comes back up. Basically I am miserable and the last thing you want to do is risk what happened to me, to happen to you. Your vacation will not be pleasent to say the least. My 3rd fill put me at 6 cc in a 10cc band. They had to unfill me .75 that same day and I still need an unfill BAD! Everyone is different though. My Dr. told me that some people have 8-9 cc and don't experience heartburn, throwing up, etc.....

  10. HI, I am 5 months post op and have had NO problems with my band thus far but my weight loss has pretty much stopped so when I went for my Dr. appointment they gave me another fill (4th all together) They put in 1.5 cc so I had a total of 6 cc in. I couldn't even keep a sip of Water down. I went back and got an unfill of .75. Immediatley felt better. This was yesterday. Today I can swallow water very slowly I tried to eat some steamed shrimp, chewed almost to liquid. But after 2 shrimps I got this pain in my chest . It's right underneth my left breast and can feel it all the way through my back. In fact it hurts worse in my back then in the front now. I can deal with the limited amount of food I can eat but the pain is not something I want to feel every meal. HAs anyone else gone through this? What do you think I should do? Thanks so much.

  11. I was banded by him and think he is WONDERFUL! The whole process has been really great and I have NO regrets about using him. The hospital and his staff are really good and Dr. Cavazos is the best. He truely cares about his patients. There were like 10 of us who all started the process around the same time and none of us have had any problems. I can't say enough wonderful things about him (as you can tell). Where are you in your journey?

  12. HI my fellow San Antonioans! I also used Dr. Cavazos from NE Baptist. For all those who have benn banded....ya'll are doing great! For those going to be ban......ya'll won't regret it!

For those of you who have Dr. Cavazos......have you ever went for a follow up and didn't lose what he wanted you too? I'm so scared to go in there next week because I only lost 2 pounds in 5 weeks! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!

    :thumbup::cool2::thumbup:

He wants me to lose about 2 lbs a week. He's going to be so dissapointed.:thumbup::thumbup:

  13. Hi, I was banded 5 months ago and in the beginning was doing so good. I really thought I broke my addiction with food and was on my way to a healthier skinnier me....... I guess I fell off the wagon! Last week we had tons of family down and they stayed here for a week. During that week I started snacking and stopped drinking Water. The worse 2 things to do. When they left Tuesday I tried to get back on track but no luck. I now know it's easy to snack and possible to go down without a problem. I need to get back to drinking my Protein Drinks and water but it's so hard. I feel defeated and really dissapointed . I don't think I can go to my Dr appointment on the the 11th with only 1 pound loss in 6 weeks. I have a good restriction I think, I can't eat alot at one time but like an hour later I am hungary again. I'm such a loser but not in a weight loss good kind of way.

Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

  14. Hi, what I'm going through is my own fault but I'm worried about slippage.. I had my 3rd fill last week and I was taking it real slow and then last night I was starving and I ate a piece of chicken to fast. I slimed soooo much then chicken came back up and since then I can't keep anything down. I'm in a lot of pain too. It felt like heartburn so I tried to eat some fat free ice cream thinking it would soothe the pain/acid but nope, I slimed after that too and it seems like it is worse now. How do I know if my band slipped during all my throwing up last night? Thanks so much for any help. i'm really worried. I've never had acid reflux before so not sure what it is supposed to feel like or not feel like and is it common to have heartburn this bad after throwing up a lot? Thanks again.
