    WLS before or after children

Hello SeaShell82 Hope all is well. I also wanted the sleeve but due to very bad acid reflux had to have gastric bypass which it helped me and saved my life from getting Barrett's syndrome. I am not having more kids but I have a friend who was very successful getting pregnant after she lost her weight. She tried many time and took longer to get pregnant and after she lost the weight, and waited a year, she got pregnant and had a healthy baby. She was taking Prenatal vitamins which her surgeon recommended to her and she did find and all her blood work was normal. From what I know if you decide to have Surgury before, the recommended time is to wait 1year after Surgury. Of course that is a personal decision that you have to make. You can always have the sleeve first and see how it goes with acid reflux and than have bypass.

    Open RNY revision

Hello Kat68 Hope all is well. I am not sure if revision is possible after having gastric bypass but I will ask my surgeon since I have a appt with him and can find out but if it's not possible, I believe you will have to start following the guidelines for losing weight by eating portion control and seeing a nutritionist. It is possible to lose again. I know a few people that went back and followed the stages of eating for gastric bypass. Where do you live? I have a great surgeon and his name is Collins Braithwaite and he is in Garden City in Long Island. His number is (516) 663-3300. If you decide to call him tell him Ana Santiago-Siddiqi referred you to him. He is the medical and chief director of Bariatric Surgury and I know him very well and I also work for same hospital. I trust him 💯 percent and he has helped me a lot and basically saved my life in many ways. I have a question. Did you gain the weight just like that or did you start eating more than usual? If that is the case you can start all over and cut down. It happens but don't get discourage.

    Roux Stasis syndrome

Hi Berry78 Oh nice I go to Maryland to visit family in Baltimore. I love to take long rides and drive around places. Maybe we can meet up one day in near future. Yes being away from negative people is best. It can bring a person down and it's not healthy. I saw on the Bariatric pal store these plates that look like bento plates. I ordered one and they come in 3 colors. I ordered the pink one and it is a portion plate. You should check it out. It's really nice. Let me know if you get a chance to look at it. I am trying to also figure out portion size. I sometimes tend to overeat and that is not good cause than it comes up. I am sure everything will work out for both of us. Support is very important especially in this life journey we all in. 👍🏻😀
  4. Hello everyone Many have read my post about my weight loss journey and complications. I have had 5 bowel obstructions in a year which had Surgury and 5 endoscopy dilation. At this present time I am in the hospital and had to be put back on TPN which I will continue at home for a while. Reason I came to hospital is that last week I started vomiting fluids and couldn't keep anything down. I started drinking ensure and it made it worse. Now they have done a few studies in which Monday is a important study that I am having which I will be drinking barian to see an area where they see something in my small intestine. They believe that a part of my small intestine is not working at all and may need to be removed. I have lost so much weight and weight 90 pounds more than I am suppose to be. At this time doctor is saying my body need to gain some weight in order to do Surgury. The upper gi test shows that the dye passes by all the way down but stuck in a small area for hours when it should go completed through. Have any one heard of or experience Roux Stasis Syndrome? I am very concern and nervous.

    Roux Stasis syndrome

Thank you Berry78 for your support. I do have support but I wish I could tell my mom what is going on but she is a negative person. She has always put me down in life and I don't need more negativity. I have some support. I definitely have to do more for myself. I know I have a great surgeon who is known all over the US and in good hands but the anxiety of all these Surgury are hard. I don't exercise much since I haven't been able to recover from all these Surgury but I do like walking. I also bought a Pilate chair to do slow strength exercise to build myself up a little. I hope this nightmare goes away. Trying to be positive. I hope you doing great and feel great. What state are you from ? I live in Long Island, NY. Thank you again for your support😊

Day 10- how did you feel?

Hello I would reschedule Your tattoo appointment because everyone heals different and you need to rest and make sure you are well enough before doing anything else and also you don't want to risk getting a bad infection if any complication. Of course you must make the best decision but I would take it one step at a time. You can always get it another time. 😊. Best of luck

    Open Rny Gastric Bypass

Hello I hope the best for you and I am sure your surgeon will do the best thing for you. The difference between the two Surgury is that open has a little longer recovery than laparoscopic. Make sure you write a list of questions to ask your surgeon so you are calm and know all that is going on. Best of luck.

    Roux Stasis syndrome

Hi Berry78 Yeah it's so hard to digest all this information. I feel quilt now and regrets and should of stayed suffering with my bad reflux if I knew all this was going to happen to me. I am so confused. The Tpn has about 1300 calories in it and lots of vitamins and minerals. I just hate this! I want to be able to function normally. I feel so lost. Thanks for your support. 😊

    Weight lost

Hello everyone. Many have heard about my story and complication with my Surgury I had in December 2015. I have lost more weight than should have. I was on TPN for 6 month getting iv fluids for nutrition. I been off of it since a few months. I am following up with a nutritionist, Gastro and surgeon. Now I am underweight. I am suppose to consume 1200 calories a day and can't hardly consume that. I still vomit a few times a week and I am very depress and worried something is going to happen to me. I saw the nutritionist and she told me to have ensure enlive 3 times a day. I started vomiting it and not sure why. I do know that ensure enlive has 350 calories and everything y body needs but has a lot of sugar. Now I am trying premier shake but have a hard time drinking it as well and will have to have a lot of them a day to consume my calories. The reason I am losing more weight is because I am. It consuming enough calories. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I constant feel full and feel lots of reflux or indigestion after each mean and I a taking Prilosec. I need all the advice I can get. I don't want to die of malnutrition but I am very concern.

    Weight lost

Hello Berry78 I agree with you with the 70 grams of protein a day. I am trying my best to consume this. Having a hard time enough trying to eat throughout the day and drink in between to increase my calorie intake. I hope I can do this. I also going to do my own shakes at home and add fruits and protein powder.

    Weight lost

Hello Berry78 I think it's because I eat too fast and forget to slow down. I stay away from carbonated drinks and never use a straw. I have to keep in mind and practice to eating slow. Thanks again for your advice.
  15. Hello Wow fantastic!!! This is such a great feeling to experience and you will continue seeing all your progress. Take it slow and follow the guidelines for your phases of foods after you have Surgury. I do have to say that as you losing weight you will feel so much better and will gain more confidence and self esteem. I know I been through a lot with my Surgury and all I been through but it feels great to fit into clothes I wasn't able to for many years. Keep up the good work and wishing you the best. Keep me posted and we all here together to support each other. 😀
  16. Hello B. Annie What u are feeling is all normal. It will take a few weeks before you start feeling better. Each day that passes will be easier. Don't stress so much. Stress is not good for the healing process. I know that it is hard to drink and have the shakes because it taste different for now. Have you tried adding ice to the shakes or having ice water? I used to drink temperature water before my Surgury and than discovered that ice water after Surgury worked better for me. This is all a process. Make sure you keep your doctor inform about anything you have concerns. Everyone body is different and trust me I understand how u feel. Take one day at a time and it will get easier. Stay positive. Best wishes 😀

    Weight lost

Hello Berry78 I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to my post. I do good with milk. I will definitely try that. Yes I really think the ensure drinks have things that may not be agreeing with my stomach. I will definitely follow your advice regarding the foods and fruits you mention. I think I am better off doing my own shakes. My stomach is very sensitive and realize that the ensure has a lot of ingredients that may not be agreeing to me. Thank you so much 😊
