Hey sassyfrass....you just go on and have that pity party! ????. I can't imagine how your feeling, but I know I would have exploded in a temper tantrum and dissolved in to tears. So, I'm assuming since you made your post, we are all invited to your party?!?!! ????
I admire your willpower; you don't need that donut (and we all have been at that place), you did the best thing by coming here! As everyone has said, make your dr and clinic earn their money and get this solved. Keeping you on my mind!! ????

Wow!!!!! Your back! Me and a few other posters were looking for you everywhere!! We started to worry; you just dropped from the planet!!! I just posted personal messages to three posters that use several of the forums here, and that I know you are familiar with. They all said they couldn't find you.
Well, you're here now and that's GREAT!????. We knew you had stated you were alone in this and no one would be visiting you, so I kept trying to give you a "virtual" visit from the other side! It's a whole new ball game, isn't it?? ???? It really starts to dawn on you what has happened and that you are "different", but the same to anyone else who sees you. They don't know the huge change you have just put in place.
It's like an internal earthquake that no one saw or heard, only you. Welcome to the Losers Bench????!!
I hope your pain is controlled. The walking will help you heal and pass gas easier, and the *sip*sip*sip rule will literally be the RULE. At least for now until you start doing small bites-chewed-chewed-chewed!!!
So glad to hear from you!!! Really wanted it to work out for you! Good luck going back to work; I think you're brave, because I don't think I could make it all day. I'm still easily exhausted and need pain meds every 6 hrs. But you go, dude!! Get it if you can!! Greatest thoughts and healing vibes to you! Yaaaaay Pedro!!!!????

I know you had surgery today, Pedro. How are you feeling?? I, as well as some others, had ours done on the 8th. I'll be truthfully honest, I didn't feel chatting or posting on my phone at all. I was so busy trying to do all the drinking and breathing and walking my surgeon wanted. It was a little overwhelming. Im on pain meds about 6 hrs., so I feel like my pain is under control. Yes, it was challenging immediately after surgery, but my second day was much better!! I felt stronger, and encouraged. Today is my third "day" at the hospital, and I'm doing everything they ask, and holding everything down easily! The staff are so nice and considerate towards my needs.
I knew you had mentioned you likely would not have visitors, so im visiting you in the virtual sense ????!! I sincerely hope your pain is being controlled, and you are sipping fluids with no problems. You have mentioned going back to your teaching employment. Gods speed, Pedro! I hope you feel well enough to do that.

????????????- Oh my, YES I have!!! I had 3 friends call and ask to be my "last" dining companion!! They each wanted to treat me to wonderful restaurants and good wine. *SIGH* ...alas, no. I stayed the course, I did as I was advised. I did allow myself a small pity party when no one was around. I felt I deserved that..????
It will be Sunday in about 1 1/2 hrs. I'm allowed 1 meal in the am and then all clears from that point all. I get to come home the day you get admitted to your hospital ????. I'll tell you everything I can to help you and anyone else. But I've read your posts; you seem pretty squared away. Which is good!! I'm betting you will be the patient who is up the same day and ready to do, do, do!! Drive the RN's crazy-HA HA HA!!! ????. Sending only happiness your way!

Thanks Pedro! I've been a little quiet lately around here. Mostly just reading different opinions and personal stories. I saw my surgeon yesterday. It was the final step before you go to admitting at the hospital for surgery. It is Friday now, and I'm just feeling "different", at least that's how I describe it. I feel I am standing apart from myself, seeing all these events happening. Odd. It's like I've shut everything inside down, and I'm bracing for an impact.
Usually a perky lady, but now I'm just still and reflective. I love reading all the great supportive posts, and the sound advice of those who know the way around here! ????

I go to surgery on Feb 8!????. I am very glad and also anxious. Trying to be a good girl and finish my 24 day pre op diet. I think I'm doing pretty good; I'm getting tired of all the Protein shakes! As the pre op diet goes on, I've lost my appetite almost completely. I don't feel hungry and eating feels like a forced affair. Weird!! But I'm trying.....????!! Best wishes for everyone, I'm rooting for all of you!!

SHOTzY* got a reaction from BonnieJo in 3 weeks post-op ate eggs last night thought I might die? Scary ...
Hi! I'm just shy of 2 weeks post op from 2/8/16. After my 20 day check up, I'm allowed to have some soft Proteins. Everyday I have tried an item on the list. Today I tried Water packed tuna (1oz) and all seemed to go well as of this posting.
I tried eggs yesterday, and I did well. I have read and have been told many people have a hard time with eggs at first. They describe a feeling of "sitting heavy", stuffed" sensation, and out right going to come back up! I'm very glad I did well, but I'm sorry about your trouble !! I agree with several mentioned ideas here: chew until it's just like baby food, take bites almost the size of a child school pencil eraser, don't drink with your meal, pause between each bite and do an assume that of how you feel.
Many others I have met around these forums speak of just backing off a troublesome food item for two weeks, or a month, and then having a go at it again. They often say they are able to eat it at that stage. And, if they cannot, they simply move on and learn from that experience.
I hope you can eat eggs. Great complete Protein, low fat, very easy to mix other things with, easy to prepare and eat in a time crunch situation. I don't know if I helped, but I'm rooting for ya'!! .
Good luck eating all your food items, and you can always come here to get the skinny on any issue

In the Weight Loss phase after RNY surgery, losing weight is a function of meal volume control. You consume very little food (2 ounces) per meal and eventually over 1 1/2 years work your way up to a cup per meal. So if you really want to lose the weight, it is extremely important to follow the program requirements.
The most important requirements are meeting your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. Meals are less important, provided you do not exceed the volume requirements and do not go overboard with Snacks. This is because your body is converting stored fat into the energy that drives your body, thus you lose weight. Exercise is also important during the first year. You should be getting 30 minutes of exercise per day. Otherwise it will limit your success with the program. I am not one for exercise because it seems like wasted effort. Rather I prefer manual labor instead. It seems far more productive to me to split a rick of firewood than to drive a half hour to the gym to do 30 minutes of exercise. Anyways physical labor can count towards your exercise requirements. If you go to the mall and go shopping walking from store to store for 2 hours, that can count towards your exercise.
I am not sure how much weight you lost and whether you are happy with the weight loss. But a 2 month plateau might mean that you are entering the "maintenance" phase. Provided you are meeting your daily Protein, Fluid, Vitamin requirements, one method that might kick-start your continued weight loss again is to examine your daily protein. Your protein requirement is met by a combination of the protein you obtain from meals combined with the protein from supplements (Protein shakes, protein bars). Your protein supplements do contain calories. As your meal volume increases, you have the option of concentrating on consuming high protein meals. As a result you can begin to take yourself off the protein supplements and the extra calories they contain.

Both of you are on phases that allow food to slide on through your pouch. You don't get a full feeling eating sliders. Things will change when solids are added to your diet. If you are hungry enough to eat something you aren't supposed to eat more of what you are allowed. The phases we go through are important. Try real hard to stay true to it

Here's how to join:
    1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/lanaepetersen and send me a friend request
    2. I will accept the friend request, then send you an invite to the group.

If you use search for "alcohol", you will see you are going to get a myriad of answers. Many programs ask that you wait 6 months to a year; however, there are many people that imbibe much earlier. As you make that decision, here are a few things to keep in mind: 1) Alcohol is pure liquid calories. You need to track it and only use non-calorie mixers if you are going to drink. 2) Please know that MANY people struggle with alcohol addiction after WLS. It is very common so be very very cautious. 3) Do not eat when you drink. Don't let your drinking lower your resolve to stay on a plan. 4) Remember you are in a honeymoon phase and need to do everything you can to take advantage of that time. Does alcohol really fit in to that? 5) Remember that alcohol may hit you faster and could potentially make you sick. If you are going to drink, I would suggest trying at home first so you know how it will affect you.
Will having a drink this early out kill you - likely not. Just because you can, does it mean you should - likely not. You have to make the best decision for yourself knowing all the risk factors.
Also, let me say this - I am 8 1/2 months post-op. I have had 1/2 of a glass of sangria and 1/2 of a bloody mary during this time (1 around 7 months post-op and 1 about 8 months post-op). I am headed out on vacation to an all inclusive resort where in the past, I have enjoyed a few adult beverages. I talked to my NUT this week and she said I should try to restrict my drinks to 1 per day. That is not likely to happen and I told her that. I will be cautious. I will track it. I will exercise in hopes to keep the calories from stacking up too much, but I am going to try to enjoy my vacation and stay on plan in all the ways I can - Protein, Vitamins, Fluid, exercise and most importantly for me, I have to make sure that when I return I do not use it as an excuse to return to my old lifestyle. We have been given a gift in the form of WLS and I want my life to be different here on out. If alcohol turns out to be a stumbling block for me personally, then it is something I will have to stay away from.

Right; let's not judge. Let's remember we all have the right to an opinion. We all come here for good advice, a shoulder to lean or cry on, and to find strength for our decision to take this journey. Everyone commenting on this topic is right! Their opinion is right for the way the feel about said subject; it's all about tolerance and accepting there are many ways to walk a pathway and each one walks it differently
Congrats on your hubby's retirement, and you should listen to your head and heart about a social beverage. Trust in your own knowledge and intuition! Have a nice time at your social functions!! Best wishes and the best of health!!

First of all asking a question for the future (not 2 weeks out) isn't a red flag. Second, my surgeon advised having one drink in a social setting is fine. Everyone is different, we all have different programs and backgrounds. So please don't judge. Thus should be safe place for encouragement and inquiries.

I think that you should not drink at all. At 2 weeks out that your even thinking about it is a red flag in my opinion. I went through a 6 month support / educational class before my insurance would give me my surgery date and all I ever heard when we spoke about alcohol was "no". No more, none, never, full of empty calories and bypassed people have a very high chance of becoming alcoholics......just say no!

I completely agree! It was the same with me. 6 months of nutrition classes, telling you alcohol is prohibited. I am currently 5 days post op and can't fathom drinking Tomato Soup yet, much less alcohol. I know no tomato, no citrus right now, and I'm ok with that.
