Hi! Nice to "meet" you! I am more worried about the surgery itself. My biggest worry is once they get inside my abdomen something will prohibit them from doing the actual surgery. I have tried everything in this earth to lose weight and I feel like this is my last chance to be successful! I am using my insurance so I have been preparing for this for the last 6 months. I would be incredibly disappointed if all of my hard work was for nothing. My surgeons office has done an incredible job at making sure I am prepared for my new life after surgery so I am confident I will be successful. I hope you get a date soon! I have BCBS VA. I talked to 4 reps on the phone who told me in the beginning they didn't require 6 months but then I found out through a liaison with BCBS that my plan requires 6 months. I'll attach a picture of the policy. Just be careful of that part. They required 6 months and a psych eval but my surgeon required 3 months, records from my most recent physical (had to be within the last year), 3 classes, attendance to Bariatric surgery support group, a class with a nutritionist then I had to pass a test from the nutrition class. My surgery is in less than 3 weeks. It was all worth it. I feel so prepared and confident that I'm going to be successful. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

My heart is so full and I've had a smile on my face all day! If you're just starting out hang on and hold tight! Those 6 months or however long you have to wait will fly by! Surgery is in 3 weeks! My BMI is 54 and I am getting the sleeve. It's the only option for me since I have inflammatory bowel disease. My surgeon said in his practice the sleeve has been just as effective as the bypass, it just may take a little longer to lose the weight with the sleeve. Waiting here too! luckily mine only consists of a phone call to get approval but the nurse who does it said she would submit yesterday or Monday and call me as soon as she got off the phone. Got my list of approved foods/liquids. Coordinator says she will submit either today or tomorrow and it should be approved no problem as everything they ask for is checked off. Only concerning point is my surgeon is really against me doing the sleeve. He prefers the band. Told me I'd likely gain all the weight back.
