  2. I was told that smoking after sleeve can cause ulcers too. It also slows down the healing process. Just be careful! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Thanks!! You're so close! The feeling you'll have after your last appointment will be amazing! I was so relieved and felt so positive! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I actually just got my date at my last appointment on Friday 4/1. I have Anthem BCBS, but I think it is specific to my group. Also, the nurse who gets approvals at my surgeon's office said the approval process for my insurance is just a phone call. I have seen some people on here that get their date very early in the process. Mondays and Fridays are clinic days, so she probably won't get around to calling until tomorrow or Wednesday. I'm so nervous something is going to be denied! We looked over my file on Friday and every single thing I needed to get approved is there.
  5. Yes! I am finished with all of my classes and stuff, just waiting on approval! They had to pick a date before they submit to insurance so June 9 is my tentative date! I'm very excited! It's been a long winding road to get here!
  6. I'm so glad to read everything went well! Thank you for your kind words! I found out my surgery will most likely be on June 9th!
  7. June 9th is my (tentative) date!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  9. I was able to print out my journals and take them to my doctor. She looked over them and signed off on them. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I just created a thread for June! I'm June 9! I thought I was gonna be May but June for sure!
  11. My tentative date is June 9! Anybody else getting sleeved in June? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  14. I have ulcerative colitis and am getting the VSG. My GI doc is hoping that losing a good amount of weight will help me better control my disease. I am on Remicade for treatment of my UC. My surgeon wasn't too excited about that but he has collaborated with my GI doc to come up with a plan. My surgery will be 4-6 weeks after an infusion and I won't be able to have another infusion until 4-6 weeks after surgery. I just hope I don't flare up! A lot of my weight gain came from using steroids a lot of the last 5 years. My surgery will be sometime in the next couple months! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. I'm getting the sleeve, not bypass but I'm taking 2 weeks then working a shorter schedule the 3rd week (4-5 hrs per day vs 8). My boss actually suggested that so it's something to consider! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Yup. At 350, I broke the car seat in my car, and I have broken slats under my mattress, I also broke a plastic patio chair. However I am guilty of sitting too heavily because it hurts my knees to ease down so I just kinda fall. 350 lbs falling can cause some damage... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. It's much easier to figure out on a PC. The app kind of limits what you can do. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I had that moment of truth a couple of Christmases ago. My sister in law took a lot of pictures and posted them on Facebook and I was mortified. I knew the number had been getting higher and higher on the scale but I still saw myself as an overweight person and not the super morbidly obese person that I had become. That is when I started getting more serious about my weight and ended up on the WLS Journey. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I was in 6th grade and me and a group of "friends" were talking about nicknames. One of the boys suggested mine should be "Jello" because I was fat. I was so embarrassed. I wasn't very big, probably just a little overweight. But after that year I started becoming very self conscious about my image. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. Congrats! I'm likely having surgery in April too but I won't know my date for a little while longer. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. My surgeon requires a three-month supervised diet, psych consult, one visit to a bariatric support group before and after surgery, attendance to two different classes, meet with a nutritionist in which I will have homework and have to pass a quiz, and a complete physical within the last year. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Maybe it's just me, maybe not. But this new app is so slow on my phone. It's a fairly new phone, (iPhone 6s plus), my internet connection is fine and I have deleted and reloaded the app and it's still slow when I try to load a page on a topic or when I try to reply. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
