  1. I'm 2 weeks out from surgery and can already tell I need a fill - or feel like I do. I've had a couple episodes of being really hungry - ate too fast - nothing came back on me but I am eating a little more than 1 cup at a sitting. egad I hope that doesn't mean it's slipped or anything?
  2. I was on clear and full liquids pre-op - assuming you are too? I was allowed oatmeal as well as milk - I took advantage of the milk and used whey powder Protein - chocolate and vanilla - and made slushies for the morning. These seemed to stay with me for a long period of time. Hope that helps.
  3. Hello all! Just banded this week (1/22) and still getting over the surgery owies. Otherwise I am feeling fine! I'm still reading through posts - just wanted to say hello!
  4. hello all - WOW some great progress on those tickers!!! It is SO nice to know I'm not the only 300# +! I weighed 354.6 in 12/07 and lost to 332.1 by band-day. Just curious - how long post surgery before you tackled a bicycle or treadmill? Now after saying that I've not been on either in several months due to a knee surgery - but have been trying to build back up to it. Also - I started a food diary on the 1st day of my pre-op diet and am continuing. I mean I am documenting everything - even potty times. Have I become way to obsessive? LOL
  5. uhm... newbie here... what's PBing?
  6. I would suggest a grabby stick thing. I found I had trouble bending - even now 4 days post surgery I'm just tender enough to have some discomfort when I have to bend over. Just my thoughts. I never used a heating pad - did use an ice pack while in the hospital. (I did end up staying overnight in the hospital due to nausea and blood pressue whackiness) I had the wonderful benefit of a full grown, full coated Siberian Husky stretched out against me the first night I was home - better than a heating pad and nice to hold onto!
  7. Had my surgery on Tuesday. I am on clear liquid until Monday for follow-up - then I can move to clear and full liquid for about a week to 1 1/2 weeks then I can start moving to a blended diet - nothing remotely close to solid until week 4 or 4 after surgery. Right now about all I can tolerate is smushie popsicles to help get my meds down and some broth - not to keen on the broth - it just seems extremely salty and greasy. Sat up for several hours today, played on computer and watched some TV. If I saw one I saw 200 hundred food commercials... Amazing really when ya think about it - we are a nation obsessed with food methinks!
  8. Okay no fair - that made me laugh and that HURTS right now! LOL
  9. no elephant here - just feel like i've done double duty ab crunches on steroids or something - holy cow i'm sore. same with hunger - not really 'feeling' it - trying to eat some Jello now to help get my morning medication down. never realized sugar free jello was so sickening sweet - ugh!!! I also had some nausea issues - ended up staying overnight at hospital but that was fine. got home yesterday afternoon - we've got two Siberian Huskies who sleep with us - they were so sweet last night - one laid at my feet while the other stretched out my length - made sure the cats nor my partner could get close to me. :frown: Hope you feel better soon!
  10. Well 2 days post surgery and holy moley I feel like I've been beaten with a baseball bat! Not excuiating pain - just the feeling of being exercise sore times 100 - does that make any sense. I ended up staying overnight in hospital - some nausea after first attempts at clear liquid and my BP kept tanking - got the BEST treatment ever at Fort Atkinson Hospital. I love those people! I'm paranoid about my port - always afraid when I attempt to rollover that I'm going to yank something lose - I guess that's just initial after surgery jitters. Okay - dumb question - at no point since surgery have I felt 'full' - but I've had the feeling of just not feeling like eating anymore - is this normal after surgery?
  11. me too - I'm getting the jitters now! But I think I dread having to get up at 4:00 in the morning worse than anything!! LOL Best of luck!!!
  12. I've been using whey Protein powder with skim or low-fat milk. Whether mixed alone and in a blender with ice to make a 'smoothie' these seem to hold me for a long time. Now I am pre-surgery - 2 days to go - but the days I don't have these I do notice I seem to have a lot more hunger pains. It comes in a chocolate or vanilla 'flavor' but I would recommend a test drive because some people do not like the taste - I enjoy both. AND as a treat - I sometimes use a popsicle or my allowance of fat free sherbet and make myself a 'desert' at night.
  13. That is a terrific way to look at this!!! Thank you for the inspiration!
  14. thanks so much for the confidence and support. I literally felt like she punched me in the gut - wind out right out of me. I agree - what I put into it is what I will get out of it. I am so committed to being the person who is inside this shell.
  15. thanks for all the good thoughts!!! time for dinner.... chicken broth.
  16. Hi - new to the board and very surprised to see this thread but VERY happy to see it! I have surgery in 2 days! My partner and I have been together 5 1/2 years. She's still struggling with the idea of surgery - she tries to be supportive but at times.... trials of the human relationship! LOL Looking forward to meeting fellow GLBT Banders!!!
  17. In response to Vessa I am using Dr. Marc Erikson at Fort Atkinson - not sure where you live but this might be too far. You probably need ALL that medical information from Mayo - and honestly it would be BEST if your Band surgeon's office reached out to some of the Lap-Band providers here. Reason I say that is that I have your problem - kinda sorta. I travel 100% for my job - so I had to prove to Dr. that I was committed to seeing him on my one morning a week at home, trying to find a Lap_Band provider in the state where I am currently working - in the event that I need emergency type care due to the band. Had the SAME response - in this case I am living and working 4 1/2 days a week in Baton Rouge LA - I couldn't get a return phone call. Did manage to get an email telling me nope - they weren't gonna commit to seeing me... yadda yadda Dr. Erickson's office then took up the effort - they had to explain to the LA surgeon's what was needed, had to send medical records, etc... So it sounds like you never got the records from Mayo - with that in your hand it might be easier... Best of luck! Congrats on the baby!
  18. New to the board - my surgery date is Tuesday 1/22 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hoping for snow tonight and all this week. Sorry folks, not a Pack fan but I do believe they are gonna win tonight. No way Eli can pull this kind of upset off. I would say I'd eat my hat if he did but I'm on pre-op liquids and besides I need my hat to keep my head warm!!!! Surgery is a Fort Atkinson, Dr Marc Erickson
  19. At my pre-surgery H&P my primary care doctor wished me luck - however told me that even with this surgery that I would not able to lose more than 100 lbs and that I was going to still have a high BMI. Talk about letting the air out of a balloon... Anyway - I've read multiple stories of people losing 100+ plus with LB.... My g/f thinks maybe she's stating that I won't lose over 30% of my body weight - but that still doesn't fit in with testimonials I've seen and read. Just wondering if anyone else has faced this - I can't decide if she was throwing it out as a challenge of sorts or what... Haven't had a follow-up with her yet - am definately going to talk about it with my surgeon this week. Two more sleeps!!!
  20. I'm new here and soooooooooooooo glad to see folks such as myself on this board. I'm going to be ecstatic to get to 299 lbs. So I guess that's my 1st goal. Well 2nd goal. The first being able to survive the pre-surgery full and clear liquid - two more sleeps and I'm on the surgery table! At my heaviest I suspect I weighed around 365. With a change in eating habits - which I've somewhat maintained and lots of exercise - which I did not maintain - I did manage to lose 76 pounds a few years back.... of course gained most of it back.
