  1. Yes I cleaned up my House the day before, and got Out of bed on my Left side.
  2. 2 weeks post op pain and burning I am entering week 3 post op. Saw my doctor after one week said all was good and I started feeling better too, felt like I was returning to normal. Today I went to get out of bed and has a sharp pain and burning sensation on my Left side near where your stomach is, near my belly button. Sharp/ burning lasts a minute and then is extremely sore like a bruise. I called my doctor and I do not see them for another two weeks, he said I must have pulled my internal stitch but it just happened again this evening. I have been able to drink and eat my puréed foods with no issues. I am not running a fever either. I am just curious did this happen to anyone else, same location and feeling?

    Anyone getting sleeved in may

My date is May 9th with Dr. Patel from Cooper in Camden, NJ. I am getting excited and super nervous. I am on day 2 of my liquid pre-op diet, it is rough but I am getting through it so far. Drinking alot of Water to feel full and Protein shakes through out the day. Best of luck to everyone!!!
  5. I am on a two week liquid diet... 5 protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, and clear broths and of course water. I am on day two and it sucks!! However, I have been drinking a lot of water to fill myself up and going to bed a lot earlier then normal because I am having caffiene withdrawal. I do recommend that if you are coffee/tea/or soda drinker to try and cut that out while you are still eating normal food so that the liquid diet does having you feel tired and getting a headache as I am experiencing. My surgery is May 9th and I am getting nervous and excited. One thing that my surgeon mentions is that they will close you right back up if they have any concerns about the size and or fatty content of your liver because it is too much of a risk if you do not shrink the liver. I do not want to take any chances in not following the orders because I went through so many hoops to get to this point. I suggest following the orders and if you are going to cheat, cheat within the first few days and then stick to it!!! Also it is important to understand that each person is different and may follow different orders based on their health, weight, and BMI, just because one person only did a few day liquid diet does not mean that your doctor is wrong in telling you that you need 2 weeks. They are not asking anything from you that you don't need to do =)
  6. Thank you for this post. I feel that I have not done enough prior to a surgery commitment to prove that I am "worthy" of WLS. I struggle with my eating habits as I've bee an emotional eater my entire life. Could I be doing better in terms of a pre-op diet? Sure could be. I often feel that I will never loose this addicition that I have. I want to feel that if I was to have this surgery that there is some way I can become a more healthier version of myself. I am not doing it for vanity reasons, well yes maybe, looking better is a plus however I want simple life tasks to no longer be a struggle for me. I tell myself all the time if I just loose 50 pounds I will be more motivated to eat better and work out. Maybe the surgery is the kick start that I need. Maybe some feel differently, however not following doctor orders is a risk that an individual takes. I personally do not judge anyone on their dieting habits, because who am I to judge? If a person has WLS and does not work at it before or afterwards, is that my issue? No, it is that individual's journey, a journey they must travel themselves to be who they want to be.
  7. Thank you all for your replies. It is good to know I am not in this alone. I have good days and bad days, just seems the bad have been out weighing the good lately. (no pun intended) I will look into those books and therapy, however, for therapy does that in any way affect your psych evaluation?
  8. I am working on my three month process...Calorie Counting and going to all my pre-op appointments. I am catching myself falling deeper into depression over my weight. I am constantly thinking about my weight, the surgery, the whole process and finding myself getting pretty emotional (at the most inconvienent of times). I am nervous, scared, and so forth. I keep thinking of my food addiction, can I really beat it? What if I fail? What if I don't like what I look like after I reach my goal weight? I see a lot of before and after photos and a lot of people look completely different. What if I loose all my friends? I am living in the land of what ifs and it is driving me crazy and since I am dieting I do not have my binge eating to cope with all the crazy. Am I loosing my mind??

    Aetna- 3 month process

From my understanding I was approved via my BMI and medical history, but I could be misunderstanding the information. I am currently on a 1600 calorie diet via my doctor and completing the pre op appointmets--cardiologist, nutritionist, pysch eval, etc. I completed my cardio appointments and have another appoitment with my surgeon the 18th of this month, which will be my third visit.
  12. I've been approved by Aetna however have a 3 month diet plan to follow per Aetna's requirements. Has anyone done this route and how soon after you started your process were you given a surgery date? Does the 3 months start on the day of your first consultation or the day you meet with a dietician?
