The thread in question was my first exposure to heavy-duty cussin' directed at individuals in a site of this type and I'm a little surprised that it wasn't the first.

It wasn't the "unsuccessful sleeve" topic, Jess. The misspelled "Judgement" was in the title followed by a question on whether it's okay to smoke weed after surgery. I can't quote chapter and verse for you, but imagine a Tasmanian Devil trapped in a pit with people reaching in to help. Then imagine the Tasmanian devil going berserk, spitting and hissing in all directions, insisting on being lifted from its hole only as it wishes to be lifted. The more people come along to assist, the more vicious the creature becomes. In the end the creature seems to be spitting, hissing and nipping in all directions because that's all it knows.

Exactly @@jess9395 I couldn't quite get where they were going or what they actually wanted. Almost like they expected what certain responses.

  2. Get back into it! It is so fun and can be good exercise in the right style and class.

I am a tribal belly dancer  It is a wonderful dance style that is very inclusive of differnt body types. I do "improv" style in which we have a shared vocabulary of moves with cues we can use to dance together without choreography. It is a lovely community and the dance itself is beautiful and good exercise.

I love belly dancing, took one class and have not been able to get back to it :(
Can you recommend a style to start. My hips are always in motion lol.

Sorry I am just seeing this! Where are you located and what style do you like? I personally do a derivative of ATS (American Tribal Style) improvisation. I think it is awesome and it is super inclusive of body styles. It is improvisational dance that looks like it could be choreo. We have a vocabulary of moves we can use and have cues for them that are often imperceptible to the audience. By using them we can dance in a group and be together but create dance in the moment. I *personally* don't like cabaret as much but different people will be attracted to different things.

I suggest looking on youtube at different groups and seeing what you like. I can help you find classes in your area if you would like. For the style I do check out videos of Fat Chance Belly Dance. No, their name has nothing to do with weight but its a cute story. They are based in San Francisco and are known as the originators of the current style. I dance in Florida and our style is a dialect of that.

Just start clicking through videos and note the

names of anything that strikes your fancy and I can help you narrow down the style.

    Just sent you a DM

  3. I go crazy doing "close work" like sewing, knitting is my idea of purgatory. I think it is cool and I have tried in the past - like painting flower pots etc. I would try to tell myself I like it, but I don't. I do like gardening, especially flowers. You can do amazing things in just pots on your portch!

I envy gardeners it's not what I do at all. As this thread shows there a so many things you can get involved with that are so fulfilling.

  6. my hobbies are quite different from the above. i love sports and animals :)

i have always been a dog person. have always had them and loved them. a few years ago, my son brought home a stray cat. we have always taken care of strays and found homes for them. unbeknownst to us, she was pregnant. from the day they were born, i handled them and loved them. played with them every single day. when they opened their eyes and started roaming around, it was over for me. she had 7!!! when the time came to give them away, i knew it would be hard. we gave three away, and i cried and cried. it broke my heart. my husband and i thought about it, and although it is crazy, we kept the other 4. they are 2 years and 4 months old. we found the yellow male, named nemo, run over close to our house. it was the day after christmas last year. we were devastated. my black boy, roadie, has not come home in three days. we bring them in at night because there are coyotes that come around. we could not find him sunday night. no sign of him. ugh.

i have always loved horses. i love riding. i started jumping when i was 29 until i became pregnant and stopped. i am ready to move to the country again and own horses and ride again.

i love the NFL. i play fantasy football and love it. my favorite sport to play is racquetball. i started at 18 and played until i was 32. after having my two boys, i did not go back. my husband and i both played. we played in tournaments all over texas. he started back 3 years ago and i have played a few times since then. i hurt my shoulder in september playing and am getting steroid shot tomorrow. hopefully that fixes me up. i want to start playing again.

I would love to learn how to play racket ball. Will have to add it to my list of new adventures this year!
