When did you guys go back to work?

Not working but I can say I drove the day after I was discharged. It was 3 days before Christmas and all my elves were at work. I did rest a lot while walking the stores but it served me better than laying in bed drinking broth. Got rid of all that nitrous oxide quickly. I never took my hydrocodone so I was good on the road.

    TACO MEAT. Flavorful & soft

    VSG pain vs. c-section pain?

For me I think this was a little more painful only because you need to use your stomach muscles Way more than you use the muscles down at your bikini area. I have a lot more scar tissue than I did down there too. I think because you never really get to rest that area. But the pain itself is not bad both areas have numbness after the surgery. Be like nike "just do it"[emoji12]

    Regrets after surgery?

My sentiments exactly!!!!! I'm 3 weeks post op still adjusting but loving the challenge. VERY GASSY almost to the point of regurgitation when I eat too fast/much (still figuring out the amounts) but it's all worth it!!

    Sleevers show me your.......

I was sleeved 12/19. I was hesitant until the moment the wheeled me back to the OR. At this point I want life and health more than food so I am committed. I'm still on soft foods. But tonight I had 1oz taco meat & 1.5oz guacamole with a little shredded cheese. All days consist of 2 premier protein shakes, usually a soft boiled egg, Jif2go cup or hummus. I'm still figuring it out BUT you must come join us & live your best life.
  8. Good luck. Be patient and diligent in your insurance requirements. I started looking for options last December decided on my provider last February and started my insurance requirements last March, missed my April visit for a funeral and had to begin my six months in May[emoji15] I finally was able to submit everything for approval in October and got approved in November for surgery December 19th. I'm 3weeks post op this Monday and am feeling better every day and happy with my decision. Mad I waited this long.

  12. Hello everyone, well it would be that I come down with the sniffles two days before surgery. Does anyone know if this will delay my surgery? My throats scratchy and I have a bit of nasal drip but no fever or chest congestion[emoji53]
  13. Yay! And good luck, mine is tomorrow at 5:30 AM but I'm getting a cold. Hopefully it won't be delayed! Prayers and blessings to all now and future sleevers

    Kind of bummed

I understand your frustration. Mine is tomorrow and my hospital billing dept called me Friday to say there's a problem with my insurance. WTH? Everyone arranged there schedule and took off and now I won't find out till I get there if the surgery will go forward. I have a tight schedule and need to travel next month for work so pushing the date back would really really blow. Im sure if I'm rescheduled it won't be until January which would mean June because of work! #sucks keep pressing forward ladies!
  15. I am. I've told only the people who need to know! Not my mom or family. I didn't want to leave room for negativity!!! Good luck to everyone

    Pretty diet

I agree with @@ginabee38 my doc said the exact same thing. It can't hurt if you elect to go liquid on your own.

    Just Curious

Hi, I began my journey in march of this year & have my 6th visit on tomorrow. My endoscopy is on Wednesday. I have been satisfied thus far. You'll have guest speakers in the nutrition class that have been through the process. The information they shared was very encouraging (since reviews are hard to find). I do know that it's a "center of excellence " which Atlanta Medical and some others are not (Even Piedmont which was my first choice for a while). My bmi is close to yours and no it doesn't speed the process at all. I see dr. Rohatji across the hall as my PCP and she took forever to get me my letter of medical necessity! My psych was quick and was expedited to Emory. They have been apparently organized, friendly and helpful. Just don't miss any visits and be prepared to be there early because it's first come first serve and usually one doc is seeing everyone in the class and it's usually 15-20 minutes a counseling session. So if there are 4-5 people ahead of you.... yeah not fun (but they do have wifi :-)) inbox me if you care to chat via phone!

  21. I wish I had considered doing this earlier and still haven't decided BUT (not that its over for me) on the edge of 44, with a 9 year old daughter as a single mom, I doubt that with me running around with my child that I can be successful and this in a timely fashion without putting Her through a lot. I do intend to work out and eat right but the jump start I need won't come until she's at least 14. I don't have the support to have time for myself and I do a lot of activity with her but I never get a "good" work out. We are always together and I love that but I am losing myself. I have high blood pressure and am a single mom. In my head and heart I am constantly annoyed, depressed, stressed and my self esteem is suffering. By the grace of God, I am raising a beautiful, confident, intelligent, fearlessly positive, optimistic little girl who I want to be my best for (I am tearing up just thinking about her). I love being a mom! She is 5'4" and 124 pounds with a healthy appetite. Despite my struggles, I am having positive talk with her about health and taking care of our bodies and try not to eat junk and try to model self control and minimize over indulgence around her. Her dad in the last two years at 46 is diabetic with kidney failure and us legally blind. My mom is 78, I have no sisters but wonderful best friends that I trust with my life but I worry about my daughters fate with the risk of this surgery. I am 5'7" 250 but have been 310 at my highest. In my 43 years, I have lost and gain over 300lbs. I am currently up 50lbs and climbing. I just can't get a grip between my aging mom and my florishing daughter and my ambitions and struggles. im currently unemployed and getting Medicade hoping they will pay for it because I need this and know I have what it takes to keep it all in control if I can just get help regaining it. I'm recently gotten approved for Medicaid and am praying I can get approved and that I don't lose courage.

    Desires vs Fears

Welcome, @orelonsmom. It sounds like even though you haven't decided for sure whether you want the surgery that you are really hoping that it is covered by your insurance. That sounds like a good indication that this may be the right thing for you. Until you know for sure, learn as much as you can and ask lots if questions. In the meantime, you might want to consider finding one or two healthy habits to work on. These are some things that can help you prepare for surgery: Are you drinking enough Water? If not, aim for increasing your water consumption to 64 oz a day? Do you take Vitamins regularly? If not, work on taking a daily multivitamin and an extra D3 at the very least. Do you exercise regularly? See if you can find a way to exercise more and aim for 60 minutes a day. Do you weigh, measure and track your food? It sounds like you have some great reasons to keep you motivated. Best of luck with your journey and keep us posted on how you are doing. Hi, my water intake is probably my biggest challenge! Ironically, my Dr prescribed 5000 mu of Vitamin D & i recently started taking vitamins. I've been chewing food more completely, based on what I've been reading. But my post was really self talk trying to lay it all out. My bariatrics center has done awesome videos that although overall thought of surgery is scary, I feel better about actually seeing what it will be like. But thanks and once I go to my first appointment and get a timeliness, im sure my posts will be more defined ????

    Desires vs Fears

Yeah, no I guess I'm just excited to have someplace to vent! Its just everything that goes on in my mind as I try to build up the courage to move forward now that I don't have to worry about the means. Thanks for trying to figure it out!????

    What's the 1st thing

    Husband left me!

This sounds like an attention seeking move. I have a relationship where every time it's time for me to do something for myself, DRAMA. No not healthy and it's really an attempt to control. Don't lose focus or give in. This is bigger and more important than "LOVE", this is your life, without which, there can be no love. Once he sees that your not giving in, he'll come back BUT always remember, a person/friend shows who they really are when your down and need them the most. Cancer or Bariatric Surgery, you want to know up front who's in you corner! Stay in prayer and press F O R W A R D! Peace
