    Pickles

I love pickles too! I love a hot dill spear with a piece of sharp cheddar... yummy snack.
  2. I had revision from band to sleeve. I had a perfect recovery. I only took pain meds for 2 days and went back to work full time after 7 days. I have had zero complications... I do still have an overproduction of stomach acid but it is easily controlled by taking Prilosec, so I don't consider that a complication. I don't get any heartburn or actual GERD or anything. I no longer have vomiting, sliming, inability to eat certain foods/solids, trips to the ER, fills and emergency unfills, etc... It has been great to be rid of all the painful and embarrassing issues I had with the band. The risk of complications with the Sleeve is very low... I work in a large school and know 6 people besides myself that have had the sleeve and none had any complications, not from during surgery and none longer term. I am the only revision person I know personally, and I had the band for 9 years. Honestly, the first month or two transitioning back from liquids to solids is the only hard part. I love my Sleeve. I love that it is maintanence free not needing fills and unfills. I love that I can eat small meals of things like steak and broccoli, and not worry about getting "stuck" or vomiting. It is everything I wanted the band to be.

    Losing slowly

I have no idea if this is true. I have heard this also. I can however compare my own results.... I have lost a little faster with the sleeve than I did with the band. I tend to lose slowly but lost 65lbs the first year with the band, and then another 10-15lbs in a few months after that. From 225 to 145. I have lost 63 lbs so far with my sleeve and will be a year post-op in March... I started at a heavier weight this time, but I am also 10 years older and menopausal now lol. I am happy with my slow loss, I have no doubt I will turtle my way to goal with the sleeve. I don't think being revision has much effect on my rate of loss... I think my age, metabolism, and other health issues does.
  4. The difference is huge. I had a slip and bad scar tissue/adhesions... The last year with the band I was sliming or puking pretty much daily. With a totally unfilled band... even oatmeal would at times not go down. The sleeve has been great. I have not experienced any vomiting at all. It is such a blessing! I have foamed/slimed a few times in the first months... but quickly learned not to take even one bite past my satisfied stage. As much as I grew to hate the band, I love being sleeved. I wish this surgery had been common when I was banded.... it would have saved me a lot of suffering.

    Syntrax Nectar Hot

I like the Syntrax Cappuccino added to a cup of cooled coffee! Yum! I cant imagine warm Tang, or warm Fuzzy Navel... Unless it was mulled with cinnamon or something similar.
  6. Increase your fluids! Not Protein drinks... you are getting plenty of that... Water and other fluids! Thirst is often mistaken for hunger. It is one of the most mis-read cues. Plus being well hydrated is good for the liver, kidneys, skin, etc...
  7. I let a cup of coffee cool a little and add a scoop of Cappuccino flavor Syntrax Nectars. I drink it iced in the summer. That is my Breakfast most mornings. I know some people that drink the Click... but to me the 15 g Protein and 10g carbs seems like a poor balance. Never heard of the Javapro, but the nutrition numbers look good.... I wonder what it tastes like?

    Acid stomach

Wow. When I went to twice a day with the Omeprazole it totally eliminated that rumbly burpy hunger feeling. By month 6 I dropped to taking it once a day. Hopefully your stomach will adjust to making less acid. I hope you find something that works... it seems a wise move to see a specialist at this point!

    Acid stomach

What medication does your doctor have you on? I am just curious, because I was taking Zantac and it wasn't working... switched to generic Prilosec (Omeprazole) 2x daily and it worked perfectly for me. I only take it once daily now.

Syntrax Nectars are my absolute favorite.

    Band to sleeve!

Sorry that you are feeling so down. Did you have your band out in a different surgery? The surgery/diet related hair loss doesn't usually hit until about 3 months post op. As for the Pepcid, you need to contact your surgeon or their office. I didn't get relief until I started taking them twice daily... and then the hunger feeling stopped. You may be feeling deprived and having head hunger... Don't let yourself feel guilty for eating things you shouldn't, and then still feeling hungry anyway. Fill up on your Protein and good choices. It is common in the first months to have 3 meals and 2 Snacks daily,,, it is only a few ounces of food for each. Call your doc or nut and let them know what you are dealing with, they can provide the best advice.

    Disappointed with Bariatric Pal store

I think the Christmas mail and gifts have the postal service, FedEx, trucks, etc... bogged down this time of year. I haven't ordered anything from here, but I have a list of things I want.

    Band to sleeve!

If you will share a little more specific details and you will get much better advice!! How far out post-op are you? What are you eating for Protein and meals now? Are you taking a PPI? Stomach acid issues can be common the first few months... and can cause a rumbling gnawing feeling that feels just like intense hunger. Might be worth checking out if you aren't already taking Omeprazole or some other PPI. As for overeating... weighing your food can stop that. It takes very little to make the stomach full now... Make sure you aren't just feeding your mouth! For Protein shakes, you may have to try several different types to find one you can tolerate. I love the Syntrax Nectars because they come in fruit flavors that mix well with Water... much lighter than the typical chocolate/vanilla options. Isopure makes a ready to drink clear Protein Drink with 40 g protein per bottle. Premier Protein in chocolate is one of the most highly recommended as tasting good and not being gag-inducing. I don't know what stage you are food wise, but if you are past purees get your protein from Scrambled eggs, chicken/tuna salad, fish, lean meats, poultry, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. The protein should be the focus of every meal and snack right now.
  15. I posted almost the same thing after surgery! By day 3 I was getting all my liquids in with NO issues. You are fine! Like @@Kindle said, we just all experience this a little differently.
  16. I wanted to have the revision from band to sleeve done at the same time. My surgeon said he wouldn't know if he could do it at the same time until he got inside and saw how much scar tissue and adhesions there were. He opted to remove the band and clean out some of the adhesions, and let my stomach heal before doing the sleeve. Some people are able to have the revision to sleeve all in one surgery... maybe it depends on the extent of damage the band has done. He should do what his doctor advises and considers common protocol for his practice. My surgeon explain that the band leaves a thinned section where it has been around the stomach, much like when you take off a wedding ring and the finger is compressed smaller... and he prefers to let the stomach heal before doing the sleeve.. especially if there is extensive scar tissue and/or damage from slippage.

    Purée question.

I pureed then heated just my portion. The rest went in the fridge already pureed and ready for my next meal.
  19. Happy Birthday! I really don't mourn food, I don't look at it as if I will never have and enjoy those foods again... I just choose to not have them now. Some day we will choose to have those treats, and work them into our daily calories/carbs so that we feel no guilt in eating them. My birthday was yesterday, btw!
  20. Love it! My bras don't fit. I love pretty bras. Even overweight/obese I had a rainbow of them. (I have weird obsession with wearing a bra that matches my shirt) I love the Cacique bras for the support and lift, and have dozens of them. My DH jokes that I have "bra Christmas trees" because I hang numerous ones from one strap onto a clothes hanger, lol. I have a hanger in the laundry room just to air dry them. I even hang them in the closet because they took too much room in a drawer : ( When we lost my son I literally gained so much, so fast, that I had to get those bra extenders. About 20lbs down I was able to stop using those... then I lost 20lbs more and was having to use the last/tightest hooks. I realized today that my bras are all too big around! One of the measurements I took to start was my ribcage (right at the bra band level) and it has gone from 44 in to 36.5 in! My bras don't fit at all! This is a great NSV for me!

    Gas or too much food?

Does this happen right after you eat?

    Soup and shaking

I liked Cambells Bean & Bacon, Cream of chicken, and Cream of Mushroom. I have no idea on the shaking.... Does your blood sugar ever drop a little low?

    Protein Powders ?

Syntrax Nectars powder. I like the Cappuccino flavor the best. I also like the Lemonaide, Fuzzy Navel, Crystal Sky, and strawberry Kiwi. I like that they taste good mixed with Water, and that they mix very easily with just a spoon... and don't clump.
  25. Do you take a PPI or acid blocker? Your situation may have nothing to do with stomach acid, but.... I get mild heartburn and if don't take my Omeprazole my stomach gurgles, rumbles, and foods and liquids make me a tiny bit nauseous. If you take some Tums or Rolaids and it relieves that feeling that may be the cause.
