  1. I had to call my PCP to get back on BP meds. Now my BP is high which was under control prior to surgery..... very weird
  2. I couldn't see for weeks. I blame it on the blood sugar and now I am back to normal.
  3. HI everyone! I wanted to share these alternatives to Pasta that I found. "Miracle Noodle - spinach" made with shirataki that is gluten free, soy free, made in the USA and 3 oz serving is 15 calories. Only 1 g of Protein but 0 sugars and sodium. "Miracle Noodle - ziti" made with shirataki that is gluten free, soy free, cholesterol free, and vegan. 3 oz serving is 5 calories but 0 g of protein, sugars and sodium. Every little bit helps right???
  4. I told one of my GF's and I have not shared with most of my family. As my brother told me the surgery would only help for a few months and I would gain it all back. He is not tiny tim btw! My GF said the other day that I enjoyed the mystery and everyone will know soon anyway. I also diet non-stop - I don't think I "enjoy the mystery" but her statement really hurt me.... Sorry I told her at all! I feel very alone in this process but I guess I will survive right?
  5. WLS will help with having less pressure on your joints. I am 53 as well and I have noticed my leg doesn't hurt and I workout on the treadmill for my 1 mile (sometimes 1.5) fast pace walk. Talk to your surgeon about your concerns and also talk to your primary as they will be the one in the long haul ordering meds for you - unless you have a rheumatologist.
  6. My blood sugar was out of control post-op. Never saw it so high 217, when I was in the 140's pre-op. They had to give me insulin (never had to do that before) and I was on Metformin 1000 mg. Had my blood work done blood sugar 97!!! A1C 6.7. Still taking the meds but my primary stated I wouldn't be on it for very long. Can't wait to stop taking meds!!!
  7. Thanks guys! I hope I make it through this hurtle as it has been the only thing I really crave right now. Can't have cukes yet and love pork rinds but again not on the list. Will look into the Quest products.
  8. I miss crunchy things!! I want to eat an apple without it being soft/mushy. I want to eat a cracker - low fat is ok. I want to eat celery... anything that makes a crunch!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I feel better.
  9. I do have a desk job and need the release form for HR. I guess I would feel better if the doctor saw me prior to going back to work to make sure I didn't have a set-back once returning. Also, the BP and BS needs to be addressed and really hasn't. I guess this is the new medical like the new math???
  10. Ok, I think I'm cranky! Called dr. office to return to work - they moved my date back 2 weeks and didn't tell me. Have all my HP meds eliminated but they are not monitoring my BP? Blood sugar was out of control during hospital stay - not monitoring Pain in abdomen still - not seeing dr. only Nut in few weeks Is it me or shouldn't they (dr.) see me again prior to returning to work???? How do I/they know my BP and blood sugars are ok? I have never been released from surgery without a visit prior to returning to work to make sure everything is back to "normal". What does everyone else think??
  11. How was your coworker able to do this??? I am 4 weeks post-op and just now can go to the gym and feel semi-normal. I am still sore in the abdominal area and weak. My surgeon wanted me out for 5 weeks but will go back at 4 weeks
  12. I too am feeling down today. Crying a lot, missing friends and freedom. Does this past?
  13. HI, I am 11 days post -op. I can't imagine going back to work this week. My doctor has me out for 4 weeks and I have a sit-down job. The first day was the worst. I could not keep anything down and was drugged out of my mind. I feel asleep just getting to the bathroom. I just weighted myself and down 10 lbs!!! So very happy and plan on driving today to get out and walk. Still have the pain on left side but nothing like the first 5 days. Congrats to your progress and everyone else!
  14. Marcci, I understand how you're feeling. I love chocolate and can't think of putting it in my mouth right now. Smells are all over the place for me as well. I had breathing issues before I left the hospital but everything is fine now (surgery was 1/6). I still can only drink vanilla and eat Greek yogurt. I don't know if you can find this - Chloe's Bars - has 60 cals, fine sugar and non-dairy, gluten free tastes great. Soup is not working for me as too salty - even the low sodium hope you feel better soon and hug yourself! We all need hugs
  15. I had those thoughts right up to insertion of IV. Felt regret afterwards when I was nausea and wondered why I did this to myself. 5 days post op - glad I did. I miss crackers right now but think that's because of needing to crunch something. I already pooped the pants (LOL) so I think that will happen during your stay at home. My daughter has been my rock taking care of me before she returns to college from winter break. My son is not as helpful as he has become self absorbed with senior year in college. I share this info as I think everyone should know how family can make you feel one way or another Did not share with co-workers and know that they will be surprised when I return to work in 3 weeks. What will I wear?? Trekker - you're feelings are normal and know that you can always say never mind. YOU have the power!! Msjg
  16. I woke up puking!! after 24 hrs of that - given a patch and anti nausea meds I was ok. Scary puking blood thought! Only on the patch now and wonder if I should be on that but not trying to go back to the beginning so patch goes on!!
  17. On my way to the hospital!! Very nervous and HUNGRY!! lol
  18. how much care did everyone need post-op? Have my college kids home from break and thinking I don't need much help. can you do stairs? Tomorrow is the big day!!
  19. 3 days until mine - 1/6 anyone else in western NY?
