Hiatal Hernia
Yeah! Good to hear.

Any nurses out there with advise
I do Bedside Nursing as well. 12 HR Nights. I took FMLA for 4 weeks. Hopefully that will be enough. Bypass surgery is 6/1. I'll go back July 4th weekend.

June Surgery
We really have a whole bunch of folks having June Bypass Surgery. That's great. Let's keep in touch and support each other. I have my Clear liquid day starting Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday I will also do a bowel prep with a bottle of Mag Citrate. I feel like I've got a bunch of stuff to get "organized", so here's my tip for all so far. Take a day or two off before Surgery. I wish I had done that. I'm working tonight and Monday night. I'll need to sleep some on Tuesday Morning which doesn't give me a lot of time on Tuesday to get ready!

Hiatal Hernia
During my pre op visit this week, the Surgeon said that the pain with the hernia repair would be pretty significant and that I needed to make sure my nausea was well controlled so I don't vomit. I guess I'll find out soon, surgery on Wed.

June Surgery
Lordy, I decided to redecorate my Bedroom in a weird pre surgery nesting impulse. It's going to be great when I finish but it's not going to be done before Wednesday's surgery. Probably not the smartest decision.

June surgery
Working through the weekend. Happy Memorial Day, everybody. Played some Singles tennis this am. Hot and Sunny here in NC today. Home to nap. I work 12 HR nightshift. My last 3 shifts before Surgery on Wed!

Is there a June surgery group?

Anesthesia pre op now done too. He reviewed my medical history and told me which meds to take the Morning of surgery. Interestingly enough, he said to stop all Vitamins and supplements as of today. The only supplement I take is an occasional melatonin. Home now with my feet up and a cup of chicken bone broth, rereading through all the handouts I received today.

Meeting with the Surgeon: done. Signed the operative permit and reviewed the surgery. I'm also having a large hiatal hernia repaired as well. He was pretty frank that the pain from that would....um....suck. Off to see about Anesthesia.

Ulcers on my stomach
I had an ulcer found on the first EGD. Went on meds. EGD repeated in 6 weeks. Ulcer healed. Surgery on 6/1. Take the meds. They work! [emoji3]

June surgery
Gosh, I'm forgetting everything. We also discussed the post op diet, fluid requirements, calories, protein and vitamins. There were lots of handouts and samples.

June surgery
Oh I forgot! An RN from the post op Unit spoke as well. He walked us through the Surgery portion from check in to discharge. We also watched a video about the Surgery and possible complications.

Ok, in between appts now. The group session was good. The Nutritionist went over the pre op diet, which for me starts today since it's a one week process. High protein, low carb essentially. I've been doing that for awhile now so other than no cheating now, it's not a big change. Then Clear Liquids only 24 hours before Surgery and a bottle of Mag Citrate to clean out before Surgery. Nothing after 12mn the night before. Next I'll meet with the Surgeon in about an hour.

It's 8a and I'm waiting for the Group Nutrition/pre op class to start. Three hours for that session. Drinking my decaf sf Starbucks and trying to be calm.

Need prayers please.
See if you can talk him into some Couples Counseling. My Husband walked out of our 25 year Marriage with many of the same "symptoms or reasons". I encouraged him to get Marriage Counseling with me. He refused. So I uprooted my life. Bought a new house, changed my job schedule accommodate my Daughter's school needs, starting working OT to get some more savings stashed. I let him go. About 8 months later, he wanted to get back together but by then I had realized that I was happier without him. If we had done counseling in the beginning, who knows what might have happened.

Pre op appt in the Morning. I meet with the Nutritionist in a group class, then the Surgeon, then the Anesthesiologist. Getting real now. Gulp.

@@AmysShrinking I'm not sure what to pack either. I was going to scroll through some other threads here and see if I could find that topic. I don't want to bring a lot of extra stuff that I won't need.

June surgery
In the homestretch now. I can't believe it and it doesn't seem real but in 9 days, I'll be post op! I feel ready but not ready too. WLS class on Tuesday night. Pre Op appts all day on Thursday. I'm working over the weekend of Memorial Day. I'll finalize my organizational stuff next Tuesday and then surgery on Wed. Suddenly I feel like I have a ton to do and time is running out!

@@cb11 I don't think a JP drain is standard for this surgery.
