    June surgery

I've been low carbing for the last 3 months during my required 3 month supervised diet. It definitely helped with my sugar cravings. I tried a bunch of different protein shakes. I've lost 34 pounds. I'll have one week of liquids prior to surgery and of course, nothing after 12a the night before. I'm 54, so the saggy skin thing worries me too but I would consider plastic surgery if I was really bothered by it. We'll see. One step at a time, right?
  2. Isopure zero carb makes a green tea. 40 grams of protein, no carbs or sugar. Tasty.

    June surgery

I worry about weird things, like what if I'm that one person that the surgery doesn't work for or what if I have complications and I can't go back to work as scheduled? I have to work, I'm my sole support. What if all my hair falls out? Gosh, I just need to get this done and be on the other side!
  4. @missjaded44: where did you buy the abdominal binder?

    Hair Loss

People in my WLS support group recommended this Shampoo and Conditioner: Pura D'Or. I'm going to order it and check it out.

    June surgery

@@waterwoman, I agree. I started the process in October and June seemed far away. Now that surgery is in 3 weeks, it definitely feels surreal. I have all this nervous energy. Heck, I'm completely redecorating my bedroom. New furniture, linens, paint, carpeting, the works. I feel like I'm nesting!

    June surgery

Alright, alright! Our June crew is shaping up. Let's keep in touch. I welcome the support as I am doing this alone. I'm divorced. Adult kids live far away. No current Boyfriend. I haven't shared this with anyone and I prefer it that way.

    I can't believe...

Hang in there. Use the time to get organized. Work on cleaning up your diet and reflecting on your triggers that make you eat. Increase your exercise goals. I hate waiting but I'm in my last 3 weeks. I've lost 34 lbs and feel like I've got a good handle on my food issues now. I'm ready for surgery June 1st. I wouldn't have been as ready 4 months ago.

    June surgery

Anyone having RNY surgery in June? Looking for buddies to journey forward with.....
  12. Pacific Organic bone broth with ginger is delicious.
  13. All good things require some sacrifice. I will miss beer and Diet Coke. I am a decaf coffee drinker. I gave up beer last month and had my last Diet Coke on April 30. I'll have a month to adjust to being soda free before my 6/1 surgery. The beer was no big deal as obviously that was not an everyday event. The weaning down and now being done with my beloved Diet Coke with lime has been harder.
  14. A lot of great info for all. I appreciate hearing both the good and bad as I get ready for surgery on 6/1.
  15. It's amazing to me that people are willing to have permanent surgical intervention to become a healthy weight and then don't follow the post op instructions. Smh.
  16. Just got my surgery date: June 1st. It's funny how fast May is flying by now. I feel like I have so much to get organized!

    13 hours and counting

You got this! It's going to be great! And the surgery part will be over before you know it. Best of luck!

    Stomach Ulcers/ hital hernia

That would be me. I had gastritis and a small duodenal ulcer found on endoscopy. Also found a large hiatal hernia. I took all the meds faithfully for 8 weeks. I had a repeat endoscopy and everything was healed. They'll repair the hernia with the bypass surgery. Good luck! Take the meds, they worked for me.
  19. I had to have 2 because they found an ulcer on the first one. I have a strong gag reflex and was nervous but it was easy. Good drugs, poof you're out and what seems like seconds, it's all done.

    Time is ticking away!

Yeah! You are on your way! I have my pre op day on 5/26 and Surgery on 6/1. Getting a little anxious now that's it's less than a month away!

    June surgery

Ok! Scheduled for 6/1. I have a whole pre op day scheduled for 5/26. Will meet with Anesthesia, the Surgeon and go to a Group Nutrition class for pre ops. That's a week before the surgery date , so it doesn't seem like I'll have a liquid pre op diet week or two.
  22. Good luck! You got this. I like your little buddy keeping an eye on you! [emoji190]

    Finally on the other side.

Can I ask how expensive it was? Did insurance pay for any?
