  1. Hello ~ Looking into Dr. Alanis, not too much on here about him just wanting to get some insight. Does anyone know if he takes Care Credit? Any other suggestions on Doctors in the area that are around the same price ($9800) as Dr. Alanis would be greatly appreciated! Thanx, and have a great day!

Credit Score question- for those who finance

A couple of weeks ago I was approved through Surgery Loans and Care Credit. I haven't applied for Capital One. I asked the Surgery Loans guy what my score was and he told me (to my surprise) it was 707 :wink2:. Surgery Loans wanted to stick me with something like 17% interest, so interest ended there! (ha,ha) So you might want to just try Care Credit before them. Good luck!
  6. I'm going to be a self payer myself. It's been so long since I've had insurance I cannot tell you for sure. The thought of future complications is something that I am terrified of and one of the reasons (beside finances) that is keeping me on the fence about doing this. From what I gather I highly doubt it, if they don't pay for it in the first place then they won't cover anything after. I'm sorry I don't have an answer but I feel the same as you, someone on here will have some insight.
  7. How are you doing?

  8. Hey, I'm thinking your name is Angela and you were born in 1982? If so, my name is Angela and I was born in 1982!

    Financing? Why the extra fee?

So if I'm understanding you alright, the $600 fee your talking about is the 5.9 % from your Dr.? I got approved thru Care Credit too so I am curious on your amounts. Can you PM me a breakdown of what your payments are/will be etc? PLEASE? Besides that, GOOD FOR YOU and Thanks!

    Financing? Why the extra fee?

I've also heard of Drs. charging an extra "fee" if you are financing the whole surgery amount. I think it was some horrid amount like 10%!! Sure the $9500 special sounds good, until you add on that!! And they say self pay is so much easier, you have to pay it back with interest and you've got to worry about the Dr. locations like a used car dealerships! Give me a 6mo supervised diet and a stack of paperwork ANYDAY!
  11. Thank you for your reply :) You are beautiful BTW!

  12. Hi everyone Welcome to my struggle- I just got approved through Care Credit for 98% of the cost of the surgery. I super want this don't get me wrong, but now that I don't have to work for anything anymore I'm freaked out! I make no sense. I'm worrying now over things I wasn't before the what if's what if it goes bad- what if I need to removed- Slippage etc- can I REALLY afford this? Should I just wait, be miserable and see if SOMEDAY I'll get insurance? Is it stupid and compulsive of me to do this without insurance? I've been trolling in the life without the band forum getting all worked up too- Then I call care credit and she told me that they can't tell me what my % rate will be until I go to the "vendor". WTF? So I get this done and I find out my rate is 29.9 %! I'm just a emotional wreck. Is there someone out there that been in or is in this situation? I know a lot of this is my own issues and ultimately I have to make my own decisions but I dunno, had to reach out. SORRY!

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.

You know It's real weird that you posted about TLCEdge. I was just on their website for the first time like a hour ago! Do you know if they charge extra fee if you are financing? Keep me posted on how you do! THANKS!
  14. I have not posted anything in here in awhile. Was thinking I was going to get Insurance through work. But, that didn't happen. Anyways I am to that boiling point where I am needing to do this for my own sanity. What I am wanting/needing to know is- Where did you have your surgery? If financed, What are your payments (pretty please)? Also if financed where is your financing through? Anything else that might be helpful would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! I live in Texas so I am leaning toward Mexico of course but I am looking at Dr. Kirshenbaum as well. Thank you for your time everyone.

THAT'S A AWESOME PAYMENT! THAT MAKES ME HAPPY!!! :smile2: how long is that for in years?

Calling all self payers! I've got questions.

I am 99% positive that you don't have the qualification constraints with self-pay that you with insurance. Insurance makes you jump through hoops so they don't have to cover what you pay for. Of course you have to be like, overweight and all but like I said, 99% sure. I am though kinda puzzled about the $5000 for the doctor? That must be his charge for doing your surgery only (?) if it's $5000 total please let me know b/c I'll be on the next plane to wherever you live to get mine! That's cheaper then Mexico!
  17. So I have been filling out applications for a couple of places this evening and low and behold I've gotten approved for 8 grand through Care Credit- But I do have to say the acceptance page or whatever you want to call it as quite quick and generic. Is that what everyone gets? Am I just going to wake up tomorrow and get a Sorry, we have denied you email? Anyone with this experience? Thanks!
  18. alegna242

Ok so I just got approved for Care Credit.

Sasha2013- Thank you for your reply! May I ask, where did you get your band done? I am noticing that the Dallas area it's a little cheaper compared to Houston area. Maybe I am not looking in the right places? If you feel comfortable can you PM me what you paid for etc ?

    Weight Loss and Sleep Apnea

Hi Pixel I am a RPSGT, I am the person that does your sleep studies and yes, you will most likely need a pressure adjustment after weight loss. Depending on how close you are to your goal weight, I suggest contacting the lab and requesting a pressure adjustment even if it is just until your goal weight is achieved. At my location we would have no problem with lowering you a few CM of H20 (pressure) and then once your at your goal have another study to see if you even need it. There is no use in getting a study done in the middle of your weight loss when you will most likely need another shortly down the road. Also there is no reason you should be not using your CPAP and compromising you overall treatment because it's at un tolerable pressure. If you have any questions or problems mail me.
