  1. Btw.. Who did your surgery? I'm getting Dr Mun

I had Dr. Zane and congrats on the consult! Dr Mun is supposed to be awesome...I just know he is stricter with the preop weight loss and I didn't lose enough so I went with Dr Zane. He was a little abrupt at first but then he warmed up to me. Everything went okay....I'm in a lot of pain and feeling a bit down but I'm hoping to get over it really soon.

  2. @almond_jay

In less than two days is the big day huh... How exciting! So what happened in the education center? What did they tell you? What did you have to do? Are you doing liquids today? How long were you there?

As far as the education center...it wasn't anything. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Basically they gave me pamphlets, took my blood again. That is pretty much it. Yes I'm on liquids since yesterday. I'm waiting for a call today to get my surgery time.

  3. As far as the surgeon is concerned...all I need to do is be on a liquid diet 2 days prior to surgery and then the night before no liquid or food.

For my prep I'm ordering/buying everything I need. Vitamins, baby utensils, gas x strips, dry mouth stuff, non slip socks, Protein powder, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, Soups, Isopure (for the first few days after surgery), low sodium chicken broth, greek yogurt, sugar free Popsicle, firming cream, and bite tip Water bottle.

I'm probably over doing it, but I want to be prepared and have everything go as smoothly as possible. I've been researching everything so I'm super prepared.

  4. My surgery is May 3rd too!! Glad to have surgery buddies! I'm going crazy researching and figure out what to have ready and prepared ahead of time.

Monday I have to go in and tell my boss who has no idea I'm having surgery that in 2 weeks I'll be off for surgery. And its a busy time at work, so I'm dreading that conversation.

  5. I did the same 12 week class. He didn't really explain the process. I know I have a preop appointment in 1 week. And I didn't get a booklet on the diet or anything. I wonder if during my preop appointment I can discuss what kind of pain meds I'm allowed and what to do about my meds while I'm recovering. I also want to ask for a anxiety cocktail for before surgery and after.

I can get severe anxiety and I usually take ativan but I know we can't take anything orally the day of the surgery. I wasn't aware the preop appointment would take so long either. Good to know!

I'm nervous and excited! Who is your surgeon?

  6. You should be fine with August. I hear South Bay is quicker...worse case though my care manager told me that everyone should have their surgery by June. That gives you plenty of time. I really want my surgery in May as I have something planned in June and I want to be healed before then.

I'm going to do whatever I need to do to push it along. Which means I gotta be careful about my diet! It's so hard though now that I know I'm done with Options. They said this is the period where people gain weight back and I could totally see how that is possible.

  7. Well my class never had any other quizzes...at least not written. Did everything in discussion. However, the last quiz was take home and you do turn it in. However, they review the answers in class so no worry. It's more so they want you to remember the highlights of the class. The last few questions are just what you have learned, etc.

What I found out in the end is pretty much there is no way thy will "fail" you. Its really the surgeon that has the last word. They are the ones that can fail you. For that reason Ive decided to go with a more relaxed surgeon who isn't super uptight about numbers etc.

I'll let you know when my consult will be. I heard he is booking for mid april just for a consult. Did you decide on a surgeon or location yet?
