I'm doing okay. I did have a hernia repair along with the sleeve so I was in more pain than normal. I'm doing okay except I'm finding it super hard to get down actual good. I'm hoping it's because my stomach is still swollen.

Lol Dr. Zane is super chill and he won't Care that you gained a couple pounds. Tell him Jenine wood referred you to him. Lol
  3. I'm almost 1 week post surgery and am in the full liquid phase. I'm dying. I can't handle any more sweet protein or soup. Just the thought is making me nauseous...does anyone have any suggestions?? I don't know how I will make it another week.

I had Dr. Zane and congrats on the consult! Dr Mun is supposed to be awesome...I just know he is stricter with the preop weight loss and I didn't lose enough so I went with Dr Zane. He was a little abrupt at first but then he warmed up to me. Everything went okay....I'm in a lot of pain and feeling a bit down but I'm hoping to get over it really soon.

As far as the education center...it wasn't anything. I was in and out in 30 minutes. Basically they gave me pamphlets, took my blood again. That is pretty much it. Yes I'm on liquids since yesterday. I'm waiting for a call today to get my surgery time.

I go in today for me pre-op education center appointment. Does anyone know what they do and how long it takes? I already had my preop with the surgeon. Thanks!

Oh wow 40 pounds! I hope I lose that much. How was recovery after the surgery? Were you in a lot of pain?

Wait what? That is so strange! I didn't have to get birth control or go to the OB. It is so weird how everyone's experience is so different.

    Any May Sleevers yet?

It would probably be better for me to do liquid diet for 2 weeks. Honestly, I'm thinking of doing it anyway. Or at least try to mostly just protein shakes. Mentally, I think that is better prep for what is to come. I'm also just trying not to have the last meal mentality. lol

    Any May Sleevers yet?

My doctor is only giving me 2 days of liquid diet. But I probably should try to do a preop diet. What are you drinking?

@@thegentleoso I guess it depends on your surgeon. They all have different rules. You're at West LA right?

As far as the surgeon is concerned...all I need to do is be on a liquid diet 2 days prior to surgery and then the night before no liquid or food. For my prep I'm ordering/buying everything I need. Vitamins, baby utensils, gas x strips, dry mouth stuff, non slip socks, Protein powder, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, Soups, Isopure (for the first few days after surgery), low sodium chicken broth, greek yogurt, sugar free Popsicle, firming cream, and bite tip Water bottle. I'm probably over doing it, but I want to be prepared and have everything go as smoothly as possible. I've been researching everything so I'm super prepared.

Doc appointment went well and I have my surgery date, May 3rd. So only 2 weeks until my surgery. I'm super nervous now.

    Any May Sleevers yet?

My surgery is May 3rd too!! Glad to have surgery buddies! I'm going crazy researching and figure out what to have ready and prepared ahead of time. Monday I have to go in and tell my boss who has no idea I'm having surgery that in 2 weeks I'll be off for surgery. And its a busy time at work, so I'm dreading that conversation.

I did the same 12 week class. He didn't really explain the process. I know I have a preop appointment in 1 week. And I didn't get a booklet on the diet or anything. I wonder if during my preop appointment I can discuss what kind of pain meds I'm allowed and what to do about my meds while I'm recovering. I also want to ask for a anxiety cocktail for before surgery and after. I can get severe anxiety and I usually take ativan but I know we can't take anything orally the day of the surgery. I wasn't aware the preop appointment would take so long either. Good to know! I'm nervous and excited! Who is your surgeon?

@@BevieMonster I also have my surgery 5/3! We can be surgery buddies! How was your surgery consultation....did you surgeon talk to you about diet and stuff? Mine was super quick and didn't say much.

  20. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only imperfect one. I know a lot of people lose lots of weight during their pre op period but not ME! I was thinking...man am I the only one? If I was able to lose weight and keep it off I wouldn't be in my current situation.

Got my surgery consult date! April 15th! That means I really gotta get back on track with my diet and exercise. The last thing I need is to have gained weight by then. Things are going pretty quickly....it's looking like a mid May surgery date possibly.

You should be fine with August. I hear South Bay is quicker...worse case though my care manager told me that everyone should have their surgery by June. That gives you plenty of time. I really want my surgery in May as I have something planned in June and I want to be healed before then. I'm going to do whatever I need to do to push it along. Which means I gotta be careful about my diet! It's so hard though now that I know I'm done with Options. They said this is the period where people gain weight back and I could totally see how that is possible.

Well my class never had any other quizzes...at least not written. Did everything in discussion. However, the last quiz was take home and you do turn it in. However, they review the answers in class so no worry. It's more so they want you to remember the highlights of the class. The last few questions are just what you have learned, etc. What I found out in the end is pretty much there is no way thy will "fail" you. Its really the surgeon that has the last word. They are the ones that can fail you. For that reason Ive decided to go with a more relaxed surgeon who isn't super uptight about numbers etc. I'll let you know when my consult will be. I heard he is booking for mid april just for a consult. Did you decide on a surgeon or location yet?

@onmonica How is it going? Update for me...I just heard back from my case manager from Options and they put in the referral for South Bay. They said I should hear back this week and see the surgeon next week. We shall see.
  25. @@Steve Puckett I just finished class this week but only lost 12lbs and I need 31. And I'm a slow loser. So it worries me that he would make me wait a long time to have my surgery. But I do want him as a surgeon. I just don't want to be postponed! Or be stressed over every pound, I have a high stress job already.
