My surgery weight was 236, so I started pretty much exactly where you did. I "only" lost 14.8 pounds the first month and "only" 8.6 pounds the second month. At 7 weeks, I had lost about 19 pounds, so right where you are. You want to know something great? I still reached my goal and I've been maintaining for over 5 months! So don't give up hope. There are some advantages to slower loss. It's easier on the skin. It's easier on the budget (replacing clothes less frequently). And you get fewer probing questions about your rapid weight loss.
Long term, how quickly you lose the weight won't matter in the slightest. Once you are at goal and maintaining, you won't be looking back thinking "if only I'd reached goal a month sooner!"

It took me a full year to lose the 71 pounds to go from my surgery day weight (236) to my goal weight (165). The rate of loss is so irrelevant in the long term. I'm at goal (a little below actually) and have been maintaining for 5 months. Who cares how long it took me to get here?!?!

Hello, my name is Terrylynn. I had the sleeve in 2014. I hope your surgery has gone well. You are doing the right thing. It is very exciting to watch your body transform. I have no regrets at this point. Congrats to you!

So glad to hear your surgery went well! Mine did too. I was sleeved 12/29 and came home on New Years Eve. Pain is not a huge deal but the gas pain and the tenderness of my abdomen when walking, sitting, standing, is really uncomfortable. I have a huge bruise on my right side also and that's pretty sore. Having said that, I am having no issues getting in and keeping down Water, Jello, broth and a bit of premier Protein so I can't complain there. The only thing really bugging me is when I move and my stomach moves - OW. Can't wait to post and hear more as time goes by!

I hope you are doing awesome. My surgery is on Wednesday--I'm so nervous. It's outpatient and I am both excited and scared, but I also have a lot of confidence in my surgeon.

Welcome to this site and best of luck with your surgeries.
As the OP has noted, the gas pain can be uncomfortable. Walking helps. I also used a heating pad.
    It does get better.

    sarasleeve,
Welcome to the forums. It is so nice to meet you. Thank you for introducing yourself!
Your story is so similar to so many weight loss surgery patients’ stories, and I hope the surgery works for you like it has for so many. Your list of anxieties shows you’re thinking ahead – that’s great! It’s good you realize that you need to keep the big picture in mind and not get down on yourself, because there WILL be setbacks.
I suggest taking “before” pictures. If you hate them later, you don’t have to look at them. But you may want them to keep you motivated as you lose weight and hit goal weight so you can remember where you came from.
I am so glad surgery went well for both sarasleeve and Chandi83! Both of you, keep us posted on your progress!

Update: my surgery went really well, but I wasn't prepared for the level of pain I have been experiencing. I've been walking around a good bit, but have yet to get rid of the gas in my body. The back pain has been worse than the pain in my abdomen.
I know it will be better in the coming days, but right now I'm hurting.

Thanks! I have decided to do before pics, though I might have to decide later or whether or not to share them with anyone. ???? I hope in the future it will be a good reminder of why I did this. Congrats on all of you success.

I'm so glad to hear that I'm not alone in feeling this way. I still think you should do it, even with doubts. I'm feeling better about it now than I did this morning. If you have a similar yoyo dieting history like me, I think this is the best option for being able to move on with our lives. Over the course of my life, being overweight had probably my biggest insecurity Now, my biggest hope with this surgery is to get healthy and move on with my life, and to stop using food as an emotional crutch.
Us both getting on here at the same time and having surgery tomorrow might be a sign. Maybe we can be support buddies through this process. ????

I'm not sure how I am just now finding out about this app the day before my surgery, but just from an hour or so of reading though some posts, I am already thankful that this community exists.
My initial message after signing up said I should introduce myself, so hello! My name is Sara. I'm 29 years old, 5'1 and weigh 225lbs. I am having the VGS tomorrow morning, December 28th.
I started dieting when I was 12 years old (weight watchers, Adkins/South Beach, Curves for Women, personal training, and more pills than I care to admit). I've had varying success over the years, but have never been able to keep the weight off. My mother approached me with the idea of WLS back in July and it has taken me since then to get on board with it. This biggest seller for me is that the sleeve, my new stomach, will be the tool for me to lose weight, not some appetite suppressant or fat burning pill that is loading my body with toxins. I still don't know that I'm 100% confident that this is the route for me to achieve weight loss and a healthier life, but I'm going to do it anyway.
Current things that give me anxiety:
--Nausea after surgery and the possibility of not being able to keep Water down.
--I drank a beer last night and feel like I've screwed everything up, and my surgeon is going to go in there and say, "sorry girl, couldn't do it."
--not being able to see the light beyond the woods, getting distracted from the bigger picture by short term issues. Getting down on myself.
There are more, but we'll leave it at that. Nice meeting you!

P.S. Do y'all recommend or discourage taking before pictures? Like scantly clad or naked before pictures just for yourself. I can't decide if that will be encouraging in the future or not.

Today is surgery day! Well, in the morning, but I cant sleep because Im so excited/nervous/ready.
