Breathe Deep
Not all of it was on the plane. I had a four hour lay over in Mexico City. So there was a big break in the middle. Only spent 8 hours on the plane. Two hours for the first flight and six hours on the second.

I'll be glad when I can........
I know this ones far away, but I'll be the gladdest when I get to goal and can have a body lift!

Breathe Deep
Hope you do well on your trip. I went home on my third day post op and was fine. It was a 12 hour trip on a plane. I thought I was going to have pain or trouble but I didnt. Just lay your seat back and take your meds and hopefully you have as easy a time as me. :cool2:

Bansters who have been banded a while, do you still burp?
Youre so lucky! I cant controll mine! They are huge belches that would make any man envious. Whenever I eat I get so much gas trapped and I just feel so full and then out of nowhere they just come out. I could be mid sentence or word and BUURRP! It actually scared the crap out of me the first few times it happend, but now I just expect to know it will happen within twenty min of eating. I think as I get used to these new feelings I will be able to controll it better. Or figure out how to trap less gas when I eat. I feel like an infent who needs a good burping after every meal. At least I dont spit up.......yet. I guess I shouldnt talk too soon before my first fill. :cool2:

Banded 5 days ago, STARVING Help
I totally second Cathrine, if you are on full liquids you shouldnt starve yourself. Blend hartey soups! It helps so much! I like to blend cream of potato with extra skim milk to make it thin enough to qualify as a liquid. I also do beans with beef broth blended. Cottage cheese blended with skim milk is yummy and so is skim milk blended with a handfull of cherrios and half a banana. Get creative! If you do this you should kill those hunger pains. Now the head hunger I cant help you with!

Disappointed
Hang in there! I also had to cancell my surgery TWICE! Plus I had to save my money for it myself which took two years. It will just be that much sweeter when you get it. I know how upsetting it is though. Just keep posting here and keep getting yourself ready. I had a lot of prep time and think it really helped me know exactly what to expect. Take care!

Less Than 24 Hours Away!! (Where are my 23rd banders??)
My surgery was at noon and I did ok without water. They will hook you up to some IVs with fluids an hour or so before surgery and that will make you hydrated again. You guys are all going to do great! Good luck everyone!!

Surgery Stories
My story: I overslept and so I was rushing to get my bags packed and and check out of my hotel room. I was able to get the cab secured and checked out and I thought Id have enough time to get to the hospital. Well then the cab made a stop to get gas, and a stop to pick up another couple who were going somewhere next to the hospital so I wound up late. They made me fill out a few forms and took me to my room. I dropped off my bags and they took me to surgery floor. I got naked as a Jay-Bird and put on my cute gown (ha ha) with the open part at my backside. I was in a section of rooms made by hanging sheets. I had my own little room section. They started an IV and gave me a pill to 'relax'. I asked for my book and they went and got it out of my room for me, but by the time they brought it to me I had fallen asleep. My doc wakes me up two hours later and it was time for surgery. Because I had been late they did someone else before me. I called hubby to let him know I hadn't had mine yet and was just getting ready to go in. Doc told hubby he'd call him when it was over. They wheel me into a room and a anesthesia doc asks me what I want to dream about. I laugh and say Hawaii. He says, "How bout Hawaii in a bikini?" and so I say, "sure......" Then there is nothing. I wake up to my doc and anesthesia doc both calling my name loudly and firmly over and over. I am being lifted onto another table. I try to schootch myself and help them a bit, but I'm really out of it. They wheel me to a recovery room that has a glass wall looking to the nurses station. The nurses rarely come in because they can see me and the monitors from their station, plus they don't speak English so its not like they come in to talk to me. They only come in to give me Water and make sure its going down. I drift in and out, but I'm trying to stay awake because I want to go back to my room. I am surprised at the pain. I didn't think I would be in pain, but I am slowly noticing the pain a little more and a little more at a time as the drugs wear off. It was bearable, but more than I had expected. After I can make myself stay awake for a half hour strait they wheel me back to my room. Its been over two hours but feels so much shorter. My Dr assistant Dr Guzman comes in and talks to me. I don't remember much. I ask him to tell the nurses to bring me ice chips since I don't know how to ask them in Spanish. I cant remember what we talk about. I think he watches me drink water to make sure it goes down. Then I get dinner a few hours later consisting of chicken broth and watered down juice. It goes down fine. Then bring me a crushed up sleeping pill in water. Its gross, but it helps me fall asleep and not wake up until morning.

One week later
Im five days post op now, and it was a huge turning point. I feel so much better! The moodiness has gone, my energy is up, and the only pain left is at the port site. I am on full liquids and have not been hungry in between meal times. Its amazing! However I did eat a little too much at dinner tonight. Pureed some soupy scalloped potatoes and they were so good I know I ate more than my one cup limit. My tummy got full and round and that made my port incision hurt a little more. I am going to measure my food from now on while on my post op diet so I dont do that again. Things are def on the up and up though! I can sleep on either side at night or my back. No belly sleeping yet though.

I'll be glad when I can........
Where high-heels again!

My Mexico Thread
Ok I wanted to close out this thread. My Mexico journey is over now that Im home again safe and sound and banded. Im now five days post op and things where signif better today. I felt great, had tons of energy, and the only thing left bothering me is a little port site pain. Nothing unbearable. I can even sleep on either of my sides at night now. Thanks for your support to everyone who read and posted here. Cheers!

Cravings
are you on full liquids yet? I had the worst cravings ever until I got on full liquids and now Im good. Hopefully you get to move onto your next stage soon. And Yes Im sure its normal and will go away. You have starved your body on your preop diet and now your post op diet. Its screwing with your head. Once you get to eat again you will be better. I dont know if cravings will ever completely go away, but Id imagine once your not starving your body they would at least get better.

goopy in your lungs after surgery anyone?
Yep, just wanted to let you know that this went away after a few days. It must have had something to do with the air they pumped in my lungs with the tube while in surgery. It was a little irritating because it hurt to cough, plus I was worried I was getting sick and that was the last thing I wanted to deal with while recovering. But yeah it totally went away after two days as suddenly as it came. I am four days post op and feel great. =)

My Mexico Thread
I got back to my house at 1am last night. Immigration took forevverrrrr to get through. It was so nice to speak English!! Id been speaking my broken Spanglish Ive learned from a life in California the whole time I was in Mexico. Not many people in Monterrey spoke English. A few at the hotel and the Dr and that was bout it. All the other places Ive been in Mexico there were a lot of English speakers. But I had always been to really touristy parts, Cancune, Cabos, you get the drift. So on my way home the girl who worked for the airline put me on the wrong plane. Im not even kidding you. I gave her my ticket at my gate, and she looked at it and put me in one of two lines (turns out it was the wrong one of the two). Then when I got on the plane I gave my stub to the airline attendant (who also looked right at it and didnt notice) to ask where my seat was, she looked at my ticket and told me where to sit. I got to that seat and someone was already there. I called the attendant over and she finally realized that I was on a plane to Cancun, and my ticket was to Mexico City! HA! Thank GOD someone had been sitting in that seat or else I would have sat down and not thought anything about it until I landed in Cancun! Even though Cancun usually sounds nice, I was really ready to come home to the good ol USofA. My plane was still bording and hadnt left yet. So alls well that ends well I guess.

Freedom Fighters Weekly Weigh In
Hi I like this thread. I want to join in. I weighed myself today. I didnt weigh myself before my surgery so I dont know how much I lost preop. I do have my starting weight on the day I was banded though, last Thursday. So four days post op and Ive lost a pound and a half. Not bad. 07/20/2009 -1.5

No surgery today...
I went threw the same thing. I had to cancell TWICE. And I had the same doubts as you, 'is this a sign??' But the third time was a charm and I am sooo happy to be banded. I am now four days pre-op and just got home from my surgery yesterday. I love my band! We have have doubts, its cold feet. Then compacted with the cancellation, that adds to the jitters.
