How Many Calories One Year Out?

I have read in many forums with exercise increase, calorie intake should increase too and this will enable more weight loss. But congratulations on all of your successes one year out! I'm only 6 weeks out and can't wait to hit a years benchmark.
  2. I only told my mum, aunt and best friend - now 6 weeks post op people just comment on me looking slightly different although I am a slow loser, declining food was never my forte in the past so people have been speculative not about surgery but me making health changes and working out. Some choose honesty, some choose secrecy, whatever works for you, works.
  3. Hi All, I had surgery on 13/01 lost 7kg in my first week, then hit a stall for two weeks! (THE HORROR!!!) I avoided the scales for 3 weeks back on the losing wagon but a lot slower! It might be the January curse and blessing in disguise - I have little to no restriction so decided to start putting extra time in working out. My transition to food has had no limits but my food choices have changed drastically: I have salad with everything! Good carbs: brown rice, couscous, quinoa; Protein - of course. I did feel I was the only one but glad to know I'm not. But better food choices = results. Started weighing myself again so will see if there is continuation in progress!
  4. I am exactly like you, had The Bypass in January but my transition from liquids to foods was a wake up call. You'll be fine I have been speculating whether one not I had the placebo too but it's been done don't dwell on it, keep busy to avoid head hunger and take it a step at a time.

    3 Week Stall

Interesting I always try and do it weekly but after today I may do it in 2 weeks time. Gonna be hard already kicking the scale out my room!
  6. So interested in this. 4 weeks this Wednesday, however I have higher tolerance to my mashed/puréed foods but feel like drinking shakes are a chore. But a mentor idea sounds really good.

    3 Week Stall

It's look the rule of law was working... I was just stressing about this during eating some tuna and mashed potatoes, questioning whether I should have been doing it or not. Now in week 3 weighed myself this morning and the scale did not move -__- thankfully it is normal I had pre-read about stalls but it is different when you're actually going through one. But at least we're not alone.

    GB questions

I had no drain either. Loose skin is definitely affected by many things including age but everyone is different. Take Week 1 to rest and walk and see how you feel week 2.

    Energy to exercise?

I hope they meant walking with "day 1 exercise" because the pain is too restrictive. Stick to walking and the more the pain starts to ease you will resume daily activities. Full exercise is only to be resumed once you are healed and there are different recommendations on when exactly that is.
  10. Breakfast: one egg with milk and soft cheese (makes it softer a bit more moist and adds protein). I tend to have it with smoked salmon mashed with a fork that is my food porn right now! They do say to have 3 meals a day but I barely feel hungry once I've had one meal so I just substitute with liquids, mainly protein shakes or soups. But I will try the Ricotta bake. Sometimes eat the same thing I've had that two days in a row and love it.
  11. Exactly! Weighing yourself everyday sometimes is just a stretch. You just know it's working because of the changes in the amount you're eating.
  12. I've slipped up, 2 weeks post op now! Not encouraging it but I felt like this and thought it was over!

    Noisy Tummy?

I had the bypass and mine does this only 2 weeks post op today, had an appointment with my NUT in Monday and she said the noises are the stomach cleaning itself.
  14. Mine is a 3 month diet as well. 4 weeks is definitely more bearable! I'm 13 days post op today and this morning I heard my stomach growl! But I still wasn't hungry! As I mentioned before, my tolerance for soft foods is very good. So, i started chewing on more soft foods (crab meat, yogurts, sweet potatoes etc). I have lost about 5lbs post surgery but I've lost a very noticeable amount of inches in my waist and my upper body area. My face has really thinned out as well. I'm not really stressing about the number-it will go down with time. I just want to be healthy and not malnourished in the long run. It's hard to even remember to eat! And I'm still struggling with getting all of my fluids in. It's a work in progress! I feel great though! Yes stomach noises!!! My NUT said the stomach noises mean our stomachs are cleaning themselves and I don't think I've actually had real hunger, more mental, no growling due to hunger only cleaning! Yes the number does not matter! Physically I have changed drastically! Jeans are getting looser, roundness in my face too has gone down. I think being scale obsessed will hurt more and I did read that one, your body can be changing the fat into muscle with all the Protein and two, tightening and toning up; either way there is loss in inches, dress sizes and FAT! Definitely feel great too!
  15. So in total you do 4 weeks? That's seems far more bearable, in total I'm doing 3 months of post op dieting but loving the energy so it's all good.
