  1. Who knows who she really loves or whether she is using you for a 'fix'. But she sounds toxic.... Even if you could have her back would you really want her? Her baggage and insecurities, the distance, the fact she seems to have no issue cheating on you when you were together and now she seems to want cheat on her fiancé. Mentally she already is. You and her fiancé both deserve better! She is distracting you from finding a partner that loves you and only you. I hope you work this out.

  2. Pre op sucks! It really does. But your NUT is teaching and encouraging the right things. Chewing slowly, cutting out the soda and breaking that carb addiction. All of those skills will help you be successful post op. But the hunger for me it literally disappeared post op. It was truly amazing. I felt like a super hero with sleeve power! 9 months post op and I still feel that way! Size 6 and I reached my Drs goal months ago. Last month I reached my personal goal. So how does this help you? In the short term it doesn't. Pre op for me was the hardest part of the process. It was worse than the fear of surgery, surgical recovery, the post op diet .... all much easier than preop in my opinion because I wasn't hungry. So my point is to give you hope so you stick with this preop BS. It will be worth it and you will get some relief from this 'hunger'! When hunger is no longer controlling you amazing things will happen! Good luck!

  3. Actually 5 lbs a month is not bad pre-op. Losing weight pre surgery is hard or we never proceed actually getting surgery. I think your on the right track. Start tracking and see how much carbs you are consuming. Your efforts will start paying off even the scale doesn't move much. You are learning new healthy habits and breaking that carb addiction!

  4. I went to 3 because my surgeon required it. Nothing wrong with it but not for me. Support groups don't work for everyone for various reasons. I stuck out like a sore thumb because of my low BMI (42) and was very self conscious. You can be successful with or without them .

  5. @@Babbs said it perfect!

So did you... People are not meant to be obese. Our society is not going change anytime soon. We have to change ourselves mentally and physically. The diets didn't work did they? Same here so many diets so much loss and regain. So unhealthy! Medicine has given us an option and get healthy, active and happy. It has given us a way to live longer and actually enjoy our quality of life. I am talking real life..... Not what your doing now. Imagine less pain, less prescriptions, mor energy that seems endless. This surgery has changed me in profound way! I am healthier, sexier, younger looking, more confident, more social, a better and more involved parent, more active, and I think better. I am sharper now than I was in my 20s. Loosing weight made me a better computer programmer! Weird but true! Not to mention I am now a normal BMI.

Absolutely no negatives or regrets. But that is hindsight. I am 9 months out. Did I worry and this was too extreme in the beginning... You bet I did! Who lets someone remove 80% of their stomach. I had those thoughts until the day surgery. I kept researching, thinking about what ifs, working the pros and cons in my head and then took a leap of faith. What a journey, what a ride, not always easy but for me it was the right choice.

  6. I have ate full fat cheese since I was cleared for any food. I also eat it at least daily. I lost my weight pretty fast (normal BMI by 8 months out). I am also eating cheese during maintenance with no issues. Carbs on the other hand can stall my weight loss... Now they have have stopped my loss (which is good since I don't want to loose to much more)

  7. I think it is good advice to leave the friendship door open.... But not following them on FB is good advice too. I think you can unfollow without unfriending. You need to get them out of your head for awhile so avoid their posts. Next LIVE and live well! If you tend to post adventures with your friends FB keep doing it! Don't let them think for a second they bother you. Live up it With your real friends and new friends. Post positive uplifting and the fun stuff on FB avoid the negative. Either after some time they will reach out or they won't. This process reveals who your real friends are. congrats on your success!

  8. There are pre WLS patients for which RNY is the best choice whether it is their starting BMI, severe diabetes or GERD. Others like me with a starting BMI of 42 and no recognized co morbidities. Sleeve was best and RNY would be overkill. Then there is the rest of the WLS patients... Which is probably most of us. Either will get the job done if you are compliant. You can also seriously fail with either. I think if someones fail at bypass they would have failed at sleeve and vice versa. In other words it really doesn't matter. Discuss with your surgeon and if they don't have a clear opinion based on your specific conditions then do what feels right.

  9. The no caffeine rule is just after surgery.... How long depends on your surgeon. My surgeon allowed it after 2 short weeks. But that doesn't mean my sleeve was ready for it. When I tried it early on it made my stomach hurt and still can't drink it unless I get the low acid variety form Amazon(pure roast). Another thing I do is get fairlife milk and put the coffee drops in it. Makes a nice high Protein ice coffee. Most of us who want coffee find a way.

  10. Yup very very normal. You had major surgery and are still dealing with the side effects of anesthesia and pain meds and very little caloric intake. At this point you need make yourself walk and get your fluids. I was exhausted for a couple weeks. There is a incredible light at the end of the tunnel and it just doesn't get better it gets incredible! You will get there!

  11. What I am not over. Actually can't get enough of it. That I am healthy active and hot. Yup at 8 months out I am a normal BMI and a very hot size 4/6. These early days are hard no doubt and I still occasionally I will get diarrhea or Constipation but I did before surgery too. It is less often because I eat healthier. Please stay positive because it is worth it!

  12. I have never been diagnosed with celiac but going gluten has made me feel so much better. No more brain fog, lethargy less achy joints, and my psoriasis it almost non-existent. I wish I had gone gluten free a long time ago. And I don't plan to ever make it a significant part of my diet ever again.

  13. Do what best for you. My pcp told me to do Weight Watchers every year for 5 years at my annual examine which I did and it didn't help. I didn't need anything from her to get WLS so I just did it! Got a new PCP....one that is open about the fact she had WLS! It is so nice to have support and someone who gets it. Knows what I need for labs. She gives advice on losing hair to Protein Shakes. I know not everyone will as lucky as me. Find a pcp that is supportive of WLS.

  14. This thread has me craving an omelet made some left over Maryland blue crab cake... An advantage to not be able to eat a whole one for diner.

@AmiLou... It is probably obvious at this point that there are not many dietitians hanging out. Few that might be around are also WLS patients too. My NUT did allow thin oatmeal and even mash potatoes during the purée phase... Just to get me through. After that carbs were not forbidden but I should only eat them if I am meeting my Protein requirements. To her the ideal early carbs were green veggies. She warned me about being very careful with Protein Bars. The ones that are edible are usually high in carbs. If you found a tasty one that really is low in carbs please share. I get being bored with food... It happens all the time with me. Eating healthy but tasty variety food is critical for me staying on track. Luckily there are many wise vets (not me I am only 8

Months out) with great ideas for keeping things interesting.

  15. Yes I have had it for awhile. You never stop having it. But orthotics, exercises, stretches, icing and sometimes cortisone shots can help. Find a great podiatrist. My doctor told me 10 years ago losing weight is the number 1 thing you can do. And he was right. At a size 4/6 and 130 lbs my feet seem normal. I know they are not but no pain at all right now. I always wear shoes with good arches... Even flip flops!

  16. Omg... I was going to ask if they checked you for that with your fecal incontinance. I have known older people that have had it. Very nasty disease. When my grandfather had it about 7 years ago in his 90s and the standard of care was flagyl. Now in the USA they can do fecal transplants... Sounds disgusting but can be a better option. For older patients it can be life saving since morality for elderly is not good. I hope you get the best treatment possible.. In your health care you obviously need to be a strong advocate for yourself. Best of luck!!!
