  1. I was diagnosed before WLS. I am now at goal the fibro is mostly gone after WLS surgery. Also off cymbalta that I was taking for it. Never take anything stronger than Tylenol now. Sure I get achy on occasion but is infrequent and mild compared to before. The fibromyalgia actually diminished before a lost a ton of weight. I think my old diet was the cause. New eating habits.... New pain free woman.

  2. Oh my where do I start... Well it was Halloween and now I have post Halloween blues! The parties, the decorations and choosing costumes, trick or treating has dominated my last 6 weeks. Now it is over and I am stuck in the house with my kids candy! On to Christmas! I am also into the walking dead, Star Wars (obsessed with Rouge 1), shopping for cute cloths and anti wrinkle products (prob need to start a post on that) and sadly this election. I think it is seriously causing me anxiety! Can't wait until it is over.

  3. You will have cake again after your at goal and in moderation of course . But at 18 days out stick to your plan. Others have provided some great substitutes. My kids insist on getting me cakes... Even at 11 months two bites and I am done. It has little appeal now. This is not the ideal food for everyday post WLS... But a better option than actual birthday cake https://www.yoplait.com/product/greek-100-whips-vanilla-cupcake

  4. At 10 months post op I eat what my family does but I skip the carb (bread, Pasta, rice are not on the menu). For example if is spaghetti night I put the meat sauce on my veggie. I Even eat the toppings from pizza... I no longer dread pizza night!!!! Obviously you can't do that yet. But you can soon!!! The further out you get the easier it gets! I promise. Don't beat yourself up either... The phase your in is hard.

  5. I wonder if the issue is Mexico more than WLS.... What if you were going to a bariatric center of excellence at a top hospital? Your BMI would qualify you for surgery under any US insurance plan that covers WLS and any top notch bariatric program would accept you as a patient. I know my own family and friends would have hated that idea of Mexico. But the local hospital 10 minutes away and I had their total support!

  6. I really hope you are getting psychological assistance with this eating disorder...as I'm sure you know WLS repairs the stomach not the mind and your at risk for developing other eating issues as well. I mean this in all kindness. Im truly concerned with your well-being and wonder if you disclosed this problem in yr psych evaluation? Anyways, I know I deal with some emotional eating issues which is not as intense as binge eating but I see a psychologist and he helps me alot. I get sleeved tomorrow.

How are you doing Butterflywarrior? Hope all went well and you are having an easy recovery!

  7. I was concerned about that same thing~ my social life pretty much revolves around having a glass of wine with the girls (I live in wine country after all). I am only 5 days post op and I had a 5 oz glass of wine last night. I drank it over 3 hours and sipped Water in between sips of wine. I was worried about getting wasted in public so I told my husband to kick me under the table if I started acting silly. No bruises :)

If I were you I would make sure I had a Protein shake before I go and bring high Protein Soup mix. At the wedding ask for some hot Water in a bowl or if you don't think you can obtain some from the servers bring it in a double walled bottle as a backup and use a coffee cup. If people ask you why you aren't eating just tell them you are on a diet and was on such a weight loss roll you didn't want to stop. I really like the ProtiDiet Tomato Soup but that is a personal preference.

Saramarie, may I inquire if alcohol is approved your doctor or NUT at five days out? If they do you picked the wrong medical team. It is too soon! Most are still on clear or maybe full liquids at that point. Alcohol can cause serious complications like ulcers and leaks. I mean serious possibly life threatening complications. I am not judging you I am honestly concerned for your well being. Your just had 80% of your stomach removed and it is held together by staples. It is a raw, swollen irritated mess that can't even handle basic food. 6 weeks is the earliest Doctor recommendation I have seen on this board. Most are 3, 6, 12 months or even never.
