  1. Jane13, I have just ordered the sample of that along with their chicken soup mix to try and I will also be trying out the isopure unflavored as well. I figure between the three I should find something that works! Thanks for the info!!!!
  2. It is still available on Amazon too!
  3. Awesome. Thanks y'all for he response. Like I said I'm not counting on it for all my protein so I may get it and just count it as 15 like y'all said. I'd rather do that and it mix well than some of this clumpy looking stuff. Yuck. I'm not really a shake consistency fan so I'll be mixing protein powder in just about everything else!
  4. i am also low BMI at around 32-33 and will be self pay. luckily my doc understands that while insurance may not think i am "fat enough" to have the surgery, that i am obese and this will change my health. i am so excited to get my life back and be able to play with my kids without being out of breath or my knees hurting. got all my pre-surgery things done, now just waiting to schedule NUT class and surgery date!!! 2016 will be the year i take my life back!!! my husband has been very supportive because he knows how long i researched it before saying anything to anyone else and he has also seen me succeed at every other attempt to lose weight and then it all come back. i broke down and told my mom and it didn't go so well. I'm an only child and i think it was mostly just scared of something going wrong. she is coming around to the idea that it is happening now. i have yet to tell anyone else though because i can hear it already. someone always knows someone who supposedly had this procedure and died. yeah ok whatever. not gonna work on me!!!

    Feet Shrinking?

thanks everyone for the replies! i still don't know what to do so i have just decided to wait. i have gotten to the point where i am trying not to buy anything new and i even asked for some stuff i will need after the sleeve for christmas! i figure it is better to not waste the money now if they do go down in size, even though that really sucks!
  6. hi all! i am almost to surgery date scheduling in my process and i have been researching Proteins to try. I was initially sold on the GENEPRO but now i little nervous based on these talks of reformulating. i don't mind trying the other but my initial draw to the genepro was the small scoop serving. is this comparable in the piping rock?

    Anyone's first surgery?

I figure I will get used to them after a day or two! I'm like you, it's the thought of giving them to myself that is scary

    Anyone's first surgery?

My surgeon requires 30 days post op of blood thinner to prevent blood clots. Injectable in the stomach only. I'll get used to it I'm sure. The pain doesn't bother me but seeing needle enter skin gives me the Willies I've heard of a lot of surgeons that don't require it though. They told us about it at my first visit.
  9. i too am in your boat where most will say i am "not even that big"...ugh. I am 5'7" and 208 so about a 32-33 BMI. my insurance requires 40 or over BMI or 35 with co-morbidities but thankfully my surgeon (i am in Alabama) performs the procedure on those with 30 or more BMI but I am self pay. i thought about it a lot and decided it is totally worth getting my life back. my dad passed a few years ago and he was over 400lbs and my mom is larger so i know if i don't stop my food problem now it will just get worse. Good Luck!!!
  10. what really made me choose this doc other than it is somewhat close to me and i need to stay close for my kids, is that the $12k also included complication insurance. it took a few months to even get my mom to where she would discuss me having the procedure and i think this made her feel better as well!

    Anyone's first surgery?

Haven't got my surgery date set yet as i am still finishing up all the pre-op requirements but this will be my first surgery as well. To be honest, i think i am more nervous about the blood thinner injections the month afterward than the surgery. i hate needles and the thought of having to give them to myself is creepy. sure ill get used to it after a day or two.
  12. I don't believe there is a down payment. They will finance it much like a car payment would be. They pay the doctor and I just pay them monthly. I did have to pay for my initial visit but that was the only other expense so far in the process. I have amazing insurance so I expect it to cover the pre-op items to be approved for surgery like lab work and if I need a sleep study.
  13. i don't know if it is anyone else thing but please check out the gastric sleeve pillows on etsy. they are SO cute. once i know my surgery date i am ordering one for myself!!!! here is the link to the basic one and they also have a giant one too among other items like keychains and pins etc https://www.etsy.com/listing/223497594/gastric-sleeve-plushie-kawaii-stuffed?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=gastric%20sleeve%20pillow&ref=sr_gallery_1
  14. Hi! i am also starting this process and am self pay. I am in Alabama and mine will cost me apron $12,000 out of pocket but that covers everything and includes complication insurance. My surgeon will be Dr Lee Schmitt at Alabama Weight Loss Surgery in Birmingham AL. I am financing my cost. upon looking into the process there was a link given to me by the doc for Prosper Healthcare Lending and it looks like it will cost me somewhere around $250 a month in payments. small price to pay to get my life back!!! I did not personally consider Mexico because while my husband is supportive, i am very close with my mother and she is already having a hard time with this idea and i think the idea of Mexico, while safe, would push her over the edge! check out LaurasVSGtube on youtube. i love her videos and she gives the info of her doc in TJ Mexico!
