    Low bmi

also interested in this. i am 33 BMI and getting sleeved on the 27th. would be nice to have any additional info on low bmi folks! my biggest question for you low BMIers is did you lose shoe sizes? my feet are surprisingly thinner that most of my body but i do wear a 10-10.5 and just curious if my feet will shrink. no way to know but wait and see i suppose!
  2. Awesome to hear the update. I already told my hubby and two kids that I'm sorry if I get snappy while I'm hurting right after! I have some recipe books for smoothies but haven't made any yet so I'm excited to hear about others recipes too! Also iced drinks. Every time I try to make a frozen drink it somehow becomes frothy. Yuck
  3. I'm set for surgery with Dr Schmitt on the 27th! I loved his staff and him and know he and Dr Miles are very nice Christian men and they have an excellent record with the sleeve!!!Did you have any problems with the sleep study? I am self pay and the sleep study was actually marked in my packet from the doc as a requirement but once I met with Dr Schmitt and he saw my young age and that I am a lower BMI he said it wasn't required. I just had to do the pre op blood work, and I have to do the nutrition class on the 20th. I did consider doing the sleep study anyway for a bit and my insurance would have paid for one at a sleep study clinic but not the home study and we have EXCELLENT insurance. Sorry I'm not much help in the requirement department!

  5. so glad to have found this thread! i am scheduled for out patient on Jan 27th with a very reputable surgeon and surgery center. it is right at the same area as one of the best hospitasl in the southeast so i feel comfortable with the decision. i will not know what time my surgery is until the day before but i will see the doctor again the morning after surgery to remove drain and make sure everything is good to go before heading home. we will stay in a hotel across from the hospital that night in order to avoid an hour drive back home and then back again the next morning. i was nervous about it at first but these are some of the leading doctors in the procedure and most patients of theirs have gone this route!
  6. Do you have a retirement account? Some retirement plans will let you borrow money against them without paying any fees or taxes for early withdrawal. They have very low interest rates and a large portion of the interest goes back to you as return-on-investment. It's something to look into. I do not have this option BUT... I had been holding off telling my grandmother due to the fact I didn't want her to cry and try to talk me out of it but I told her yesterday and she was very supportive. She also offered to loan me the money from when she sold her house! Now I can just pay her back and save thousands in interest. Whew. I got super lucky there!!!!

    Alabama sleevers!

Are you doing the outpatient or staying in the hospital? I'm doing outpatient at the surgery center but staying in hotel overnight for next morning follow up and since you are before me I would love insight on how things go for outpatient if you are doing that. Everyone in here has stories of their hospital stay but I can't find much info on the outpatient difference. I am doing outpatient since I only live around 20 minutes away. I will post a reply on my experience next week since I took the week off from work. I am told the pain isn't that bad but I wanted to give me time to get my food intake under control before I went back to work. I have a coworker who had outpatient done at another location and she said it was a breeze but took a while for her to get into the surgical room and then recovery and then discharged. I had my nutrition class today and the nurses pretty must said the same thing about it taking a while to get discharged. It has to do with the length of the surgery 1.5 hours - 2 hours and if there are patients in before you. Sometimes things can get backed up with the schedule so I would tell anyone waiting for you to get a good book and find a comfy place to hang out. : ) Good luck. Awesome! Thanks for the info. Hope all goes smoothly and you can update after the procedure. I got to my NUT class on the 20th. Getting so excited!!!

  9. well, finally broke down and told my grandmother today. so far only my hubby, kids and mom know. it actually went surprisingly well! she even offered to loan me the money so i won't have to pay interest back on a loan, just pay her some monthly!!! thats the only people that will know about the surgery beforehand. i don't mind telling anyone else after it is over with but i don't need anyone else's opinion about my choice!
  10. i have two boys age 7 and 3. the 3 yr old doesn't understand anything and i am sure he will miss me for the one night i will be gone but he has stayed with my parents overnight plenty and this time my mom will be with me so daddy can be home with them and get our oldest off to school the next morning. our 7 yr old is fully aware of what is happening. he had some questions which i tried to answer fully for him and he seems good to go now. he at first asked if mommy was going to die. once i explained everything to him he seems to not be worried at all now. he is happy that mommy will be able to play with them for longer than 5 mins without getting our of breath!

    Current sleevers in Alabama?

hi! also in alabama. im in Oxford (halfway between Bham and ATL) and i am having the sleeve done with Dr Schmitt on Jan 27th! i go in for my NUT class and last appt before surgery on the 20th and that is also when i start my pre-op diet. I am lower BMI (33) and am self pay. I am getting my loan through prosper as well!
  17. I am also self pay (although here in the states instead of Mexico) and I got the call today to schedule and I am also getting sleeved on the 27th!
  18. Just got the call about an hour ago! Scheduled for January 27th!!! Go to my NUT class and start the pro-op diet on the 20th! Now I just wait! My birthday was yesterday so what an awesome present to get the call today! Apparently age 31 will be the year I take my life back!!!! ????????????
  19. I am also pre-op but not to the pre-op diets yet but yesterday i did make some coffee and put some of the premier protein vanilla shake in it. i also thought it was a pretty good substitute for sugar and creamer. i also put some of both in the blender with ice to try to make a slushy type consistency and it just made either the coffee or the protein shake really frothy which was kind of gross. maybe take two will go over better!
  20. So, there are a couple of pairs of shoes I was wanting for Christmas but now i am wondering if your foot also gets smaller after you get your sleeve. right now, thankfully my feet and wrists are about the only thing on me that isn't really fat so i was curious what others have gone through. I do not currently wear a wide and that is usually what i hear of changing but what are peoples experience with shoe size changing? hope that makes sense. its late and I am exhausted!
  21. Good luck today with your sleeve! I'm waiting today or tomorrow for the call to schedule my surgery date!!!
  22. I too love my car. I have a 2007 sublime green dodge charger. I have always loved the 70s model chargers and those beautiful colors so in the early and mid 2000s when they went back through the old school colors, i KNEW i had to have one. finally got her about 4 years ago. Racy Tracy is her name I will drive her till it costs me more to fix her monthly than a new car payment. she is beautiful and paid for. the only thing that annoys me is she uses tires quickly and doesn't have a input for my iPhone/ipod to play music. Good luck with your LOVE!
  23. Got the call today that they have received all my pre-op bloodwork and etc and they should call Tuesday to schedule my surgery! my surgeon usually books about 4 weeks out so I'm looking at late Jan or early Feb! all i have left is the NUT class in mid Jan and then surgery!!!! so excited!
  24. Anyone else seem to have friends and/or family that always seem to know "someone who knows someone or was married to someones ex-someone" who has had that and died??? like really people??? no you don't. stop trying to talk me out of it because you haven't taken the time to even look into what i am saying. ugh..people
  25. well, not really a question at all but i got the call today from my surgeons office that they have everything they need for me and that they should call Tuesday to schedule my NUT class and surgery!! Merry Christmas (and upcoming birthday) to me!!! they told us at the first appt that they usually book out about 4 weeks so I'm looking at end of January or early February. can't wait to get that date and connect with some of you others on the same schedule!!!!!!!!!!!!!
