  1. Awesome! Congratulations!
  2. Congratulations!
  3. Also, if you're close to Louisiana, there is a great surgeon (I'm a bit partial, of course) by the name of Thomas Lavin. Here is a link to his website. www.whyweight.com
  4. VelvetKiss, I'm not sure if you're aware of this or not, but there is a well-known and well-respected bariatric surgeon in Portland by the name of Emma Patterson. Below is a link to the website where she performs the surgery. This might be another option to consider. http://www.legacyhealth.org/body.cfm?id=681 Good luck, Tricia
  5. Yes, this is typical. After the initial swelling from surgery subsides, you're typically able to eat almost anything and more frequently. There are things that your body just will not tolerate so remember to be conscious of it. Your first fill may not provide much restriction but just be patient. I just had my 3rd fill and feel much better restriction. Good luck!
  6. I just had my 3rd fill this past Tuesday and now have 2.2ccs. I'm feeling good restriction and have had no problems thus far.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I'm typically good with taking Nyquil at the first sign of a cold and by the next day or 2, it's completely gone. I've never really had a severe cold.
  8. Ick...I can't stand anything cherry-flavored.
  9. I'm a huge fan of Nyquil. It always quickly knocks out whatever I have. Plus, it helps me sleep.
  10. I concur with both vinesqueen and Alexandra. Had there not been the option for the lap band, I would have not had any other type of WLS. This is a wonderful tool and I'm so happy with my decision. Yes, the weight loss is slower, but I'm a working part of that process. With GB, I feel as though the weight would come off regardless of whether or not I watched what I ate or exercised. This is my opinion, mind you. I also didn't want to deal with my insides being re-arranged, permanently. I find comfort in the fact that with the lap band, it's adjustable AND reversible (if necessary).
  11. Congratulations on obtaining your surgery date. There were plenty of people in your shoes prior to surgery. I, on the other hand, didn't have any concerns but I suppose I'm the exception to the rule. Just remember that you're doing this to change your life AND to add years to your life. It's a great tool. There are no guarantees in life so I believe you should live each day as it comes. Try not to worry about complications, etc. but rather the benefits of this tool. Keep your chin up!!
  12. Wow, I can't believe I'm seeing a post about a get together in my state. I'm an hour northwest of New Orleans. I would consider attending a get-together in Shreveport. I'm not at all into gambling but I could do something else.
  13. I started at 44.2 and am now at 39.5 after 2 months and 22 days.
  14. LOL....well, go ahead and tell everyone!
  15. Congratulations!!
  16. LOL....I'm happy to hear that you no longer have a dickie-do. As vinesqueen would say "Bonus points for those that know what a dickie-do is."
  17. I completely agree with you as well. I did so much research on my surgeon BEFORE I found out that his self-pay price was so reasonable. I'm truly blessed to have a great, well-respected surgeon and I didn't have to pay out the nose for my surgery.
  18. Those are brands of vodka. What do I win?? J/K...LOL
  19. I'm sorry to hear that you were unable to be banded. I wish you the best in your weight loss journey.
  20. I moved on to solid foods (baked fish, tuna, etc.) by the 2nd week. Every doctor is different. Just remember to take things slowly and introduce one new food at each meal.
  21. You could see what it costs to upgrade to a 1st class seat, which are bigger than coach seats.
