  1. There is some good info in this thread. My Husband politely told me last night that my breath was less than desirable. I suppose I'm going to have to eat more yogurt AND carry some mints and gum with me at all times.
  2. Laura, I'm so sorry you had to go through this. Hopefully next time you'll have a much better experience.
  3. Welcome aboard Morgan. Best of luck to you with the surgery!! PCOS stands for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, which I also have. Here's a link for information on the sydnrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycystic_ovary_syndrome FYI - one of the symptons is obesity. Unfortunately, some women with PCOS are unable to lose a significant amount of weight even with proper diet and exercise. Hence my reason for being banded.
  4. Great info....thanks. I'm trying to balance aerobic with cardio during the week. I've just started doing Buns of Steel, I'm still walking/somewhat jogging, and I'm doing Krav Maga. Once I move from a Krav Maga beginner to advanced, I'll move from once a week to 3 x per week. I've also asked for one of The Method cardio videos, a mini trampoline and some walking weights for Christmas.
  5. Wow, I'm glad you're alright. I'm sure that was quite a scare.
  6. It's definitely not something that keeps my heart rate up. However, it is league night and we try to get out of there quickly so we bowl as fast (and as accurate) as we can. I realized after the first few weeks that the 2 1/2 hours of bowling shouldn't be counted in for the 4 hours of total aerobic exercise per week so I've decided to add in other things to make up for it. I suppose at this point I'm just adding it in as something "else" I'm doing during the week.
  7. My heart goes out to you. Love is powerful but unfortunately drugs are even more powerful. I wish your sister and your family the best and hope that one day she'll heal completely and you'll have your (original) sister back. *HUGS*
  8. I got in 45 minutes of Buns of Steel (first time doing this video) and 2 1/2 hours of bowling yesterday. Boy oh boy do my legs and hips hurt!!
  9. In the 2 1/2 months that I've been banded, I've PB'd a total of 4 times. I absolutely hate the feeling and now do anything and everything to avoid having one. I now know the triggers and stay far, far away from them.
  10. I agree. I think they all did well and I commend them on their efforts.
  11. That is incredible news!! I'm so glad that you don't have to go under the knife again. Thanks for sharing your miracle with us.
  12. Actually, I am just the opposite. I didn't have high blood pressure to begin with (120/82 typically) but now it has gone down to about 112/75.
  13. I had one until my purse was stolen in Las Vegas in October. Argh...I need to get another one from my doctor. I didn't realize that you were provided with discount meals because of the card. Nice perk!
  14. It's the band or nothing for me. I wouldn't go any other route.
  15. PCOS is <!--StartFragment -->Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. Here's a link that explains the syndrome and its various symptons, which include weight gain. http://www.webmd.com/hw/womens_conditions/tw9104.asp?src=Inktomi&condition=Healthwise
  16. I noticed that too! Of course, I want Suzy to win as well. She's so cute! Our luck, they showed us that little clip and it has nothing to do with the winner. Argh...but, we'll soon find out.
  17. I didn't get much exercise this week but I also noticed that my pants are fitting much looser than they were last week. Tomorrow is the start of another week. It's time for me to get cracking!! Woo hoo!!
  18. I'm not going to get into an argument with someone on a message board. I simply stated that you shouldn't assume anything yet you're doing it again. Read up a bit on PCOS and you might learn something. PCOS is typically treated with diabetic medications, such as Glucophage. However, because one of the symptoms of PCOS is weight gain, many women (like myself) have failed to lose weight even with proper dieting and exercise. I'm not, nor have I ever been, obsessed with food. Prior to getting my band, I didn't over eat. I may not have always made the right food choices, but I was not one to over eat. Please read my post on the following thread about why I am fat. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=5223&page=8&pp=15 Please refer to my answer above to seehawksimms.
  19. Do not assume that just because someone had weight loss surgery that they have an addiction to food. Many people, like myself, have PCOS and NO addiction to food.
  20. Here's a typical day for me... Breakfast: 16 oz. protein shake Lunch: small salad with turkey breast OR just plain turkey breast Snack: Sugar-free Jello Pudding OR granola bar Dinner: Taco Bell Pintos & Cheese OR 1/2 sandwich with crab salad & american cheese on toasted 12-grain bread (I can never finish 1/2 of a sandwich though) I'm averaging about 950-1000 calories per day with the following mix of fat, carbs and protein: Fat: 32% Carbs: 32% Protein: 36%
  21. Although I'm still a relatively new bandster (banded 9/16/05), I'm EXTREMELY happy and wouldn't have done anything differently.
