I told close friends and family. If someone comments on my weight loss, I say "I am trying very hard", if they ask more I do tell them about my sleeve and my change of eating habits. I live in a small town so it is what it is. I don't get many negative comments, I think because people know my sisters, friends and mother will pounce. lol

swimsuits that cover loose skin?
GibbsGirl replied to jandseakin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Amazon has lots of options as well. I have been searching, I like board shorts and wear a sports bra type top under rashguard t-shirt, long sleeve shirt, or tank top. It all depends on the sun exposure. I am excited they are coming out with more woman's shorts options. Not a skirt type girl but nothing one piece fits properly anyway. The rashguard swim shirts are so nice because unlike cotton they don't weigh you down. The only issue, I'm having right now is finding the sports bra type top to go under it all. I prefer something that can un hook instead of going over my head due to an old softball arm. Let's say I have not been blessed enough to fit into the ones I have found. Last years, is not an option. It's a good problem to have. -

You Bet!!! -
My family surprised me with one right before my surgery. I love the security of knowing my heart rate while exercising and the fact it links to my phone and tracking app.

We all have gone through the same emotions regarding a permanent life style change. My surgeon was very open with me and very supportive, I hope yours can help you make your decision easier. It's not easy but it is worth it.

What would you do?

Just my opinion, but the fact your open and available to talk if they need you is enough. Maybe as they see you succeed they might be more open. Just my opinion, but the fact your open and available to talk if they need you is enough. Maybe as they see you succeed they might be more open. -

Talk me off the ledge
GibbsGirl replied to fireman9302's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's ok to be scared. We all had this moment and had to weigh the consequences against the benefits. If you haven't written down your top ten reasons for doing this, please do. It helps to center yourself, this is a life long commitment, but also is a life long benefit. In my case, my number one reason was to see all my son's senior moments. Even if it was hot, extreme temps play a number on my heart. I had excess sweating to the point it would make me sick. I'm proud to be counted amount the cold blooded now and I don't fear any football game, or outdoor event. I am thankful my sleeve reminds me not to sacrifice my health for one more bite or a piece of cake. It was the right decision for me. After all your hard work, you have earned the right to do this for yourself. -
Can anyone please help me?

I eat 1oz weighed out of pecans or cashews everyday. Usually in the morning after my meds.

Had a good laugh this morning. I usually weigh right after I brush my teeth in the morning. Yes before Breakfast, I just can't function without clean teeth. Anyway I weighed and went about the business of fixing my breakfast and then remembered I needed to update the Easter challenge. I ran back in to look at my log and I forgot to write it down. I wanted to verify my memory so jumped back on the scale and had gained a pound from 15 minutes ago. I was confused and weighed again and realized I had put on my capri pants. So I took those off and realized they weighed a pound. I normally weigh in my t-shirt and underwear. Yes all my at home clothes are oversized. Since I have to weigh everyday due to my heart (I know repeat story) and since I only count my weight on Mondays, I shall now weigh nekked that day.
