  1. Day two post op. Everything went very well. Had my swallow test this morning all was well. They showed me the X-ray of my new pouch. It's about the size of an egg. I did get a drain which will be removed tomorrow &a catheter which was removed today. Pain is tolerable today. But as I was coming off of the anesthesia the pain was really bad & very bad nausea as well. They worked quickly to get them both under control. Getting the drain out tomorrow & going home. I have also done a great deal of walking.

  2. My AF will probably come in the middle of surgery this Wednesday. Having trouble with the pre-op diet. Had a lot going on this week traveling for work. It's not easy doing this when your not at home. I have fallen off the wagon several times this week. I feel absolutely terrible about it. I almost feel like I don't deserve the surgery. Almost!! I cannot wait to get on the other side of this so I can start my new life!!

  3. Maybe I'll try that. When I told her that I drank Protein shakes she freaked, and told me that they're full of sugar. Any brands you recommend? I'm just hoping that this won't stop me from having the surgery. The last thing I need is to be too fat to get help...

I have a nutriblend and I make my own shakes. I use 1 frozen banana sliced up into about six pieces, Usweetened vanilla almond milk, 1 Tbsp Peanut Butter, 1 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder, splash of unsweetened vanilla Syrup and a heaping scoop of Mocha Protein Powder. It is sooooooooo yummy!! When I started drinking one of these a day and doing 30 mins/day on a stationary bike three times a week it started to kick start things for me. Give it a try!

  4. Oh wow, that is not good! Ok, this just gives me more motivation to quit! So maybe something good CAN come out of this!! Thanks, guys.

I also quit a year ago. I smoked for over 20 years. I also took up vaping and cut back on the nicotene monthly. Once you start vaping you will notice all of the good things quitting smoking entails like being able to breath better and tasting and smelling better. The morning cough will go away too.

  5. I'm scheduled for the 22nd. Got a call from anthem yesterday saying I needed another month of diet & exercise. They needed documentation for June to complete the six months. Made another appt with my primary for this Friday. Anthem said everything else looked great and that I should be approved by the end of the day Monday. I was hoping to avoid this insurance turmoil. Fingers crossed that it all goes smoothly from here.

  6. Huge loud pickup trucks that are jacked up in the front like a dog taking a crap!! Really, what is the purpose!!

    People slamming doors at work!

People who constantly complain about their job but yet don't want to do anything to change their circumstances and then treat me like crap when I decide to improve my situation and then try to tell me that my promotion was only a level move instead of upward. Funny how this level move will be paying me more and also giving me annual bonuses! Hm!

People using the diesel pump at the gas station when there are clearly other pumps open to use.

People who write that they are loosing weight instead of losing weight! Sorry guys, I had to add that one!

  7. I'm both so excited and so scared about rerouting my insides so to speak. I'm not scared about where I'm going or anything like that but scared about making this huge change. My stomach in so many ways has ruled my life from lactose intolerance to acid reflux to IBS what I have chosen to put IN my mouth has had a dramatic effect on how I feel, look, participate and live. So here are my worries today, what if there are complications in the surgery? I know these are questions I will ask Dr Illan . But as the date looms closer I'm beginning to get queasy

I also have all three of these things and my doctor said that the surgery will not affect them. Although bypass will help with the reflux.

  8. Congrats! Don't get caught up in how much time you will miss from work. Most people go back to work within 1-2 weeks of surgery. I went back after 2 weeks and had no issues. Of course it depends on the type of job you have; if you are required to do a lot of heavy lifting or very physical job, then I'd say you will be out longer. If you have an office job, then I'd say 1-2 weeks.

    Good Luck!

My plan is two weeks. I have a desk job but there is still travelling involved. I believe I will be fine. I have been exercising and increasing my Protein intake. Hopefully that will help with the post op.

  9. Congrats! Remember - just because you are done with the 6 months of visits doesn't mean you have to schedule the surgery right away. Talk to the scheduled and see what will work - as long as you won't need to repeat anything. Good luck and Congrats on your new position!!!

I think the best thing for me will be to get it done the week of June 20th. I hope that is an option. I will be in St Louis June 13-17 and I will be released to start taking on clients after that. I would prefer to have the surgery first and then take on the clients. My manager has agreed with that.

  10. So this is it! I have finally finished my 6 month diet/exercise program. Last weigh in this morning, lost another 5 pounds. Of course the doctor said I should just forget the surgery and continue to lose weight. Really! Not going to happen! I have all of my clearances now and I am now waiting for a call from the surgeons office to schedule surgeon appt and surgery date. This has really kinda crept up on me. I was told by the surgeons insurance person that my six month diet/exercise program would be 180 days long. But now I am being told that my insurance will accept 6 consecutive months of doctor visits. That means that I am a month sooner than expected. Part of me is ecstatic and the other part is full of anxiety. Am I ready for this?? I have so much going on in my life right now. I am studying and training for a new position at work. This is the job of my dreams & I don't want to mess it up. My employer is aware of this surgery and he said that we would work it out and not to stress over it. Hard not to stress though. :o

  11. I wanted to have the ablation procedure done a few years back but because of my weight they said I needed to either lose 25lbs or have the procedure done in the hospital. Needless to say, I didn't have the surgery. I was completely devastated that I wasn't able to have the surgery like "normal" women. Therefore I still suffer from the monthly enemy! Maybe after my WLS I will approach this procedure again.

  12. i have a daughter as well, although she is an adult now I have to say I am overwhelmed & at a loss, not to mention humbled by your reason for surgery. Of all of the reasons I have read on this thread, yours has touched me the deepest. You are doing the right thing but you need to make sure that you do it for yourself as well. Please keep us up to date on your progress as well as your daughters.

  13. So I'm 50 y/o starting my journey to a thinner me! My surgery date is 4/14 and I'll be starting my 2 week liquid Protein diet tomorrow. I'm nervous but excited that it's finally here and I can see the light of a healthier, more active me around the corner. Anyone else starting this over 50? My husband is starting as well two weeks after me.

I'll be over 49.5 when I have my surgery in July. I have been looking at it as a totally new life for me at 50. Good luck on your liquid diet and surgery. Hope to hear how it goes.
