  1. Hi Everyone! So far all is good, my date was 10/24. However, the doc said my Protein levels and b complex is severely low. I have to drink more Protein shakes a day. Other than that I do struggle with walking. I don't walk as much as I should. Yesterday was the first time I went out and actually walked for longer than 5 min. I did about a mile...it felt great but I didn't sweat 1 bit and was wondering was I doing the right thing? I start the gym today as well.

In regards to eating, I just want to be able to find a menu or even a plan that I can follow. I want more variety. I get tired of the same thing fast and just don't want to reach that point. Any suggestions? Would love to hear from you all!

  2. Well besides all the other stuff on this page, at some point (when, where and how it fits your post surgery plan is on you and your dr) you can fill half an avocado with tuna or chicken salad to make it a full meal (yum). Thanks to the internet, you can find all kinds of crazy tricks like subbing mayo with Greek yogurt for less fat. Yay. Best of luck.

Thanks so much. A lot of the suggestions here have been great. I tried it with chicken last night and it was great.

  3. Ok folks, you all heard of cravings right? Sometimes things come to mind that you actually know are not what u are supposed to eat but it's a thought. I don't come here to get a reaction out of anyone, I come on here to get different points of views from those who have done it before me and/or are currently at my stage. Suggestions are always welcomed and alternatives.

So for example one gentleman said not chips but try cheese squares. And for the record I can ask about French fries 3 weeks out but it doesn't mean I'm going for it...i look for what people are doing or have done to replace those cravings. I never said I was eating those things already.

Thankfully, with the help of this tool (sleeve) and by the grace of my God I have lost 30lbs in just a little over 3 weeks by eating the right things and following my diet. So I do take my choices very seriously.

Lastly @@LisaMergs I can laugh because I actually thought that starting your sentence with "not to be rude" was funny. I cannot control other people's emotion and how they react to whatever anyone posts. So if they chimed in that's their choice. The same affect follows with people looking at your post with how you started and would chime in just the same. These are open forums and it's part of it. The best thing in these places is to never take it personal.

Um yeah. I've heard of cravings. My opinion ? Get over it. You (globally speaking) were overweight, had surgery and are supposedly trying to get better. Why TF anyone is going to blow it is beyond me- and they should have been flagged as not ready for surgery by their psych eval.

I find it minblowingly STUPID that people ask about chips tacos etc early on or during weight loss. And even MORE idiotic that they don't have BASIC COMMON SENSE.

So yes. I know what cravings are...

And I also know that I can run a 15k and wear a size S dress and 6/8 skinny jeans 7.5 months out because I GAF about myself.

Man, not to be rude or anything but take it easy. Life goes on, breath and don't take it personal...

The only thing I take personal is my own weight loss, health and the well being of those I love.

    The rest? Ancillary, at best.

  5. A lot of people enjoy guac and hummus with their meat.It helps coat the meat and make it more moist, goes down easier and adds flavor to dry white meat chicken. I like to go to Zoe's kitchen and get a steak or chicken kabob and a side of hummus. I dip the chicken or steak in the hummus. YUM. O. Plus two kabobs from Zoe's is like 3 or 4 meals!

    Yummm that sounds really good.

  6. I'm in Mexico this week for work. At the Breakfast buffet, put a smidgen of refried Beans on my plate. Ooooo, must be a chili in there. The guac was delicious though. I'm hoping the business lunch will have good offering of Protein. I'll bring a packet of GENEPRO with me just in case.

As I progress, I notice I do get hungry if I go 3 hours without Protein. At home this won't happen but on travel it does.

I have to travel for business the end of this month for a week. They asked if I had dietary restrictions so hopefully they will offer a few options for me. I too get hungry at around 3hrs.

    Is GENEPRO unflavored?

  8. Is 3 weeks post op the magic number? It is true anytime you ask about something obvious like chips, soda, crackers, alcohol, ANYTHING NOT Protein you will elicit a response. Period. I'm still kind of a newbie and @@iam_yamii there are people who will politely tell you hell to the no... there are others who have hit their wall post op newbies asking about such things. Don't take offense. Think of it as watchers of the sleeve protecting you from yourself. I don't think you need a forum to answer your question. You already knew the answer-- maybe you were seeking validation or admission from others who do partake in chips and dip.

My journey hasn't been without a flaw but I will say this-- after having to require surgical intervention to help me lose weight I honestly could have cared less if I ever saw another chip or cookie or anything that falls into the junk food category regardless whether it was paired with an avocado. This is an opportunity to start fresh-- a clean slate hopefully you follow the guidelines provided to you and try not to read into it. Your sole focus should be protein and Water. Nothing else. Nothing else matters right now. Maybe once you're on regular food you can expand your horizons to include fruit and veggies in various forms but chips, crackers, pretzels should be something you SLOWLY incorporate during maintenance. Your body will thank you. Carbs drive hunger. Protein =Satiety.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate it. I don't take offense. I didn't say anything negative to anyone and welcome all feedback.

Not looking validity at all just getting a good convo going to what's an alternative to things that we know we can't/could eat. Sort of like what folks have been saying about guac...some said yes to it and others said no for X reasons. That's the type of convo I hope to get from folks. It doesn't always work that way but my question could be someone else who is afraid to ask. This is a community to help everyone in some sort of way so all comments are welcome.

  9. I added guacamole as a spread to my turkey and cheese roll up (instead of mayo or mustard). Probably 3 or 4 weeks post op. I also do the same with hummas. I'll also do that with sliced avacados. Not daily but now and then. Obviously it didn't hurt or slow down my progress.

  11. Put your guacamole on squares of cheese.

I've so confused about the things I can eat. I'm 3 weeks and I can have regular textured Protein now. But struggle with in between meals etc. I have a list but I just feel like it's not detailed. Aside from that breakfast is very important to me. I see folks eat scrambled egg with a little cheese and turkey bacon but is that too much this early?

If you are confused with the documentation your surgeon provided, it really is best to call the office and get clarification and examples for the stage you are in. Every plan seems to vary either a lot or a little. For example, I don't know what textured Protein means.

Thank you! I can eat chicken, turkey, shrimp just small bites and chewed well. The confusing part is just that it is not too detailed. I find myself asking them all the time if I can have this or the other.

  12. I ate lots of homemade guacamole (avocado, tomatoes, garlic, onion, cilantro....very well pureed so no chunks) starting in the puréed stage, but chips weren't allowed until 3 months. I actually didn't eat chips until at least a year postop....empty calories, no nutrition.

Thank you! I think I got carried away with a craving and the fact that I'm watching football.

What did u eat ur avocado with?

  15. Not to be rude but why on earth are you asking about chips?!?! How can they possibly fit into your weight loss efforts? They are nothing but carbs and fat! They will provide you no nutritional support and definitely not a good choice that is going to provide you weight loss and a healthy body. This surgery is not a miracle weight loss gimmick it's a tool to be used wisely.
