For those of you with kids.

My daughter knew I was going to Mexico. When I got home and was not moving so fast, she said, "did something happen to you in mexico?" I told her I had stomach surgery, and once I did that, I would do better on my diet. She is 7, and now very proud of my 42 lb loss in 3 months. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  4. While I agree with all the previous responses, you get to choose what works for you. I'm 9 weeks post op, and I had a half a glass of wine at week 2. I'm 35 pounds down, and still have a glass each night. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  5. I had the sleeve done by Dr. Garcia on 12/28 and am down 35 pounds. So on March 3rd, I am going there again with my friend for her to be done. We will be there at the same time. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App
  6. Not to be the bearer of bad news, but keep in mind that it is not malpractice to make a mistake. The standard for malpractice is did they make a mistake that a reasonable physician should not have made. Check with a local attorney, but unfortunately mistakes do happen and I am so sorry to hear that you are not well. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal

    NSV shout outs

Good evening all. I am 6 weeks post-op and very pleased with my progress. I am 5'6" Starting Weight :217 Surgery day Weight: 210 Current weight: 188 But really my progress can be best summed up by the attached picture.
  8. I am 38 years old, and two years ago, when I was 25 pounds lighter than today's weight I had a breast lift and my implants replaced. I had old saline implants from my twenties, and I was sagging from nursing my daughter, etc. I spent about $12K for this, and am very happy with the results. I found than taking old stockings, and adding rice to them to "try on" the size implants worked very well. Your surgeon will give you an opinion, but this was very helpful to me. I just had the sleeve in Mexico, and am 4 weeks post op. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to mexico if I needed another procedure. The breast surgery was WAY more painful, and I took way longer to go back to work.
  9. 1st night, on the couch in my room, 2nd night, he went to a hotel.
  10. I am currently 4 weeks post op, and down 22 pounds. I am feeling pretty well, but I have a couple lingering questions that perhaps the collective can answer: 1. Why aren't you supposed to use a straw. It seems easier to get my liquids in and I don't feel that I swallow air. 2. Why can't you drink with eating? I've been trying to find the medical reason. 3. I hate eating with other people. It used to be that I didn't like to eat with others and was self conscious they would judge what I ate. Now, I go to a networking meeting and get a bowl of soup, and eat only half. They question me. It's not that I want to keep the surgery a secret, but I don't want to spend time talking about it. I'm there to work. Declining invitations is not ideal. Any tips?
  11. The hardest adjustment for me is to not drink and eat at the same time. Before I would never eat without something to drink.

    Dr. Kim in Texas

Mexico was amazing, I had a great experience, felt like I was so well cared for. So much staff, I never needed to use my nurse call button.

You may want to investigate going to Mexico for the surgery. I am an intelligent person and did my research. I was sleeved on 12/28 in mexico. There was someone there from OK as well $4200.
  16. Wow, so I made it through the 1 week pre-op diet, and it was hard, but I did well. Now, I'm day 4 after the sleeve and really want to eat something besides clear liquids. Ok, I know I've come this far, don't risk it, etc. But really is everyone being perfect or will some milk really harm me?
  17. I'm 5'6", ideally I would be a size 8.

    Any December 29th Sleevers?

Mine is tomorrow, I think the worst part is my pacing husband. He won't stop worrying. Comforting him certainly has kept me distracted.

    Self pay- positives?

Positives of self pay are that you can decide to do it and get a surgery date in 2 weeks!

    San diego sleepers anyone?

I live in San diego, but am headed to tijuana Monday for surgery.
  23. Hi there. I am 5'6" and 221. I am having the sleeve on 12/28 in tijuana along with a hernia repair. I didn't want to wait the 6 months to do the surgery here, in San Diego. My doctors pre-op diet depended on your BMI, so I only have one day of liquid diet before.
  24. Me too, Dec 28th in mexico.

    Any Tijuana Sleevers?

I went back and forth about US v. Mexico and am scheduled for the sleeve on 12/28 in tijuana. I live in San diego, so no flight required. My weight doctor here said I can follow up with him.
