I think my aha was my mom telling me I had such a pretty face. I live 2000 miles away for a reason. 14 days and 20lbs. You rock Cherri!!!

wine is always a necessary! I miss a glass every once in awhile now. I am only 3 weeks out - so no way69-year-old woman here.
Pre-op at Outback, I'd have skipped the whole onion thing (terrible stuff and never would have indulged in that), eaten a 6 ounce filet, a baked potato with butter/sour cream, an order of broccoli, a slice of bread with butter. I'd have had unsweetened tea or 6-8 ounces of red wine. And no dessert.
Now, nearly 9 months post-op and at goal, if I were out at a steakhouse on a weekend "special night" meal, I'd have 3 ounces of filet mignon (would take the leftovers home), broccoli (would probably eat half the order and take the rest home), 1 slice of bread (and maybe a little butter?), and 4 ounces of red wine. And that's it. I'd be full and content. And have enough leftovers for lunch or dinner the next day.
For me, it's a question of Portion Control, etc. -- and making sure I'm getting plenty of Protein and good, healthy carbs. The treats for me that night would be the (probably not whole-grain) bread and the wine.
Or is wine a necessity?

great advice... i am 3.weeks out - weighed at my one week appt and that is it. I agree on the fad diets - I did it so much I had to have gallbladder surgery. I am worried about the 3 week stall. i havent exercised much - i have a broke foot. Darn it!I too was going crazy with #'s. I finally stopped getting on the scale and go by how my clothes feel. I will be two months out and I'm down 2 clothing sizes. I've tried every fad diet and would lost a little and then my body would plateau for so long that I'd give up and regain everything. Post surgery I think about everything I eat. I have not been perfect but I'm aware of everything I eat now. Appreciate the progress and don't get hung up on the numbers . . . it will drive you crazy.

Beautiful.... congratulations

I was sleeved 12/30 - I lost 15lbs the first week. Cant wait to weigh tomorrow. I wonder what the deal is the 3rd week? I will remember your press on words! Also, 1 Cor 2:9........Four days ago I made three weeks post op and I think I am having the dreaded three week stall! I am the same 266. PTL that I did not gain which I think at this point would be hard to do, but staying the same is sad. I am eating as my dietitian and I work out five days a week for fifty minutes I just have to press through. I know, I know embrace the stall. Words of encouragement are welcomed.
