  1. I am 27, was just sleeved on 12/28. I have had a ton of people be supportive and that's great! (I tell everyone, no hiding it.. I even have an instagram dedicated to it!) My surgeon even used my age as one of the reasons he thought I'd be so successful. Easier recovery, etc. My problem comes from a select group of people who seem to think that because I'm SO YOUNG (which btw.. is 27 even that young, news to me). They ask me why I would take this step at this age, why not wait until longer and see if I couldn't do it on my own (like I didn't try that, thanks for such great advice!). I'm also not married, and someone had the audacity to ask me what guys would think of my saggy skin... well hell IDK what did they think of my fat? I've never had issues finding a date... so thanks but no thanks. Then comes the "well you know you can't have kids right away" (my surgeon says 2 years). Considering I'm not married or in a serious relationship, and the fact that I'M NOT EVEN SURE I WANT KIDS this shouldn't be a problem! I know I should just ignore these people and tell them to shove it, it really hurts my feelings some times. Just today a girl posted a before/after on facebook and said "did this work the natural way, no pills or surgery for me!". That really hurt. This choice isn't easy. I feel like that was directed toward me. End of rant. Anyone else feel the same?
  2. I hate to be another "I haven't lost any" whiner and I know it's normal and I know I should accept a stall. But I'm basically so upset at this point I feel like I could cry. I had surgery on 12/28 and since then I'm down about 24 pounds. I haven't lost any in 2 weeks. This week I did start my period (which have been super irregular since the surgery) so I could blame that to make myself feel better, but I don't think that is why. I don't get it. I get at least 90 oz of Water a day. I take my Vitamins, I eat what I'm supposed to, getting 60+ in Protein daily. My calorie intake isn't high. I will do 1-2 Protein shakes a day, tuna for lunch, and something like a turkey burger or lunch meat for supper. I work out 3 times a week. I don't know what else to do and I am so upset. Am I expecting too much? I don't have scales at home, so I weigh at work. I am thinking of buying one to have at home so I can weigh first thing...naked, haha am I grasping at straws here? I should say that the weight I am now is what I weighed all through college. Is my body just like "oh ok, we'll stay here forever again"?? I think my brain is just confused because every diet ever was calories in vs. calories out, and according to that I SHOULD BE losing, but I"m not. Sorry for the rambly rant. I just needed to get it off my chest to some people who would understand.

    What upsets your sleeve now?

eggs. Of any kind. Which sucks because I LOVE hard boiled ones . I'll try again in a month or so. I kept getting sick after eating them and not putting it together...always assuming I ate too fast or too much. Then one day I was like, hey, this ONLY happens with eggs. DUH. haha

    Alcohol... ????

    I still love a good martini. ????

So frustrated I feel like I could cry.

Thanks everyone! I am feeling better now... it was just seeing no change AGAIN frustrated me first thing this morning. I will try to chill and go with the flow. I'm not great at that..in life or weight loss! haha

    What have I done?

I think everyone goes through this phase. I know I did. It wasn't immediate but like 2 weeks in I was like OH MY GOD THIS IS PERMANENT... for some reason it just hit me. haha. I'm over that now, and realize that this is a life changing, freaking amazing, life SAVING even procedure that I am so lucky to have had. Keep your chin up, it all get's better!!
  7. (I am sure this has been discussed but the search function never works for me ) I am wanting to start wearing a compression top, maybe even leggings? does any one have any advice on what kind/where to buy? I don't really want a top that squishes "the girls" too much, but I want everything else compressed. I'm tryingto avoid too much sag.... I'm not even sure if this will work but it's worth a try.

    Compression Garments

    Awesome thank you!!

    Hiccups

I mean I'm a month out and still hiccup every time I eat..... Assuming that's normal. ????
  10. Ok, so I have a serious question but I want y'all opinion before I call my surgeon and he laughs at me! I am getting kind of sick, running nose, etc. The issue is I have a lot of drainage down the back of my throat, and it's going to my stomach I assume (? not a doctor here). Anyway, could this be causing my nausea? I haven't had any at all before now, and this morning I ate what I always do and got extremely nauseas, tonight I had one bite of something I eat all the time (just turkey lunch meat wrapped around a cheese stick) and the same thing happened. No fever or anything. Could this be causing it?? I don't wanna call him and look like an idiot if I don't have to!

TMI Question...that may not make sense!

So yeah now I'm full on SICK. Got a Rx. Now it's so bad that if anything at all not liquid hits my stomach it's instant nausea. I even threw up last night, pure mucus (eeew!!)
  12. It really hurt my feelings, I'm proud that I have had the surgery, I've never hid it. I just felt like she was for some reason being rude or competitive. Like, hey maybe let's not all compete with each other! Let's build each other up! The only person I wanna be better than is myself (total pinterest quote!) haha.

TMI Question...that may not make sense!

Ok, I will call them tomorrow and see. I may just need to call my PCP for a prescription. I really feel like that's what it is. I just didn't wanna seem crazy! haha or crazier...since I've called them my fair share of times!

    Cardio Machines At The Gym.

I find them boring, but I love that I can up the resistance, so I do them. I have a playlist that is exactly 30 min and I MAKE myself finish it... I'll add more to 45 min eventually. I;ve also found watching youtube videos on my phone helps, takes my mind off of staring at the stupid machine telling me how much more I have to do! haha
  15. Yep same. Mine was out about 6 months before. My surgeon kind of acted like it was a good thing. "one less thing to worry about" he said.
  16. LeslesLosingIt

    Compression Garments

Ugh thank you!!! I never can get that to work!!!

What prompted you to get surgery?

I am what my surgeon told me was considered pretty young for the surgery, 27, and I really just wanted to get my weight under control now before it had a chance to hurt my health. I am fairly healthy, and would like to keep it that way. I felt nothing but support from everyone in my life and that helped tremendously.
  18. I had a pretty severe hiatal hernia that I wasn't aware of until my pre-op EGD. It was causing me symptoms and everything...I was just brush them off. After the surgery I think that is one of the reasons I felt so freaking amazing, because I wasn't having that dang hernia causing me issues any longer... so I felt 100% better because of that and post-op recovery was a breeze for me. The only annoyance I have from it is that I can't lift weights for 6 more weeks due to the repair... I want to start now!

    Going back to work

I'm gonna be repetitive and say my only issue was I was SO FREAKING TIRED. By 1:30 everyday I was wiped. I made it until 5..but it was tough! haha I didn't have hardly any pain issues post op and didn't find that sitting up at my desk caused any either. Also: I went back exactly one week after my surgery. Was sleeved on a Monday, went back the next Monday.
  20. I'm a crazy person and basically brought all of my makeup with me... haha. I did forget chapstick, and my wonderful hospital had some. I felt so good the next day I actually used the makeup too, so. I agree on bringing loose clothes/pjs to change into and out of the gown. I brought some like cotton tank top style night gowns and as soon as I was awake I changed into that. Felt so much better just being in my own stuff. After I got home I would say I wish I had better prepared my room, if that makes any sense... as in pillows, scooting things closer so I didn't have to reach, etc. (I had roomates but no SO to take care of me).
  21. Curious about anyone else sleeved the same day I was, how are y'all doing?!
  22. LeslesLosingIt

    Any other 12/28 sleeves!?!

I am feeling awesome! Basically no pain ever, except when I ate one bite too many just now and that was not fun! haha I know, we've been having crazy winter weather this week stopping me from going to the gym! I was in such a routine too! Ugh, I feel you. I had a little "stall" and haven't lost as much as I had expected, but my surgeon tells me that I am doing great and not to get too focused on the scale. Easier said than done!

    Anyone Irritable?

I am so freaking happy I found this thread. I have been having serious PMS like symptoms with mood swings, etc since like week 2. It all makes sense now! haha
