overeating like crazy
lifeofblair replied to healthier&happier4life's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I did! I remember the day before I had to start my pre op diet I binged like crazy. My mom visited and I had her bring my favorite treats from the local bakery since it was the last time to eat them. I drank Dr Pepper. I guess I did the whole "food funeral". But, I think for me I needed to enjoy them one last time. I haven't eaten anything off plan since my surgery and that was 8 months ago. I'm sure it doesn't work for others, but it did for me. -
Pre-op, how much did you lose?
lifeofblair replied to MKJohnson15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 13 on the pre-op diet. Didn't really lose much on the supervised 6 month program. -
I'll be eight months next week. I did go over 1000 one day, but it was an extremely long, active day.Well, I feel like a pig now. I am at 1300 calories a day at a little over 8 months. Are you still in the losing phase or in maintenance? I think you are normal. I feel like I'm not eating enough lately. Especially when I work out and my nut did not help when I asked. So I'm just trying to figure out the best range.

I usually end up between 800 and 900, but lately there have been days when I am more active that I will eat more. My nut isn't really helpful either, so I'm trying to find the right balance for me. I decided to start experimenting eating more on the days I work out and am very active.

GP says to do Weight Watchers instead
lifeofblair replied to careya123's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
One PCP made me cry the way she was but I went to another one and she supported me and ended up that she went to med school the the surgeon and so that was very helpful. -
I found a recipe today that used ground chicken as a crust. Though it was different, but I sometimes put chicken on pizza, so why not! I think I'm going to try it next week.

Daily Meal Ideas for WLS 8+ Months Out
lifeofblair replied to Katnroyal's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
She's the nut at my surgeons office. And when she said between 600-800 calories she said that was the average. I emailed the other nut to get her take on it because some days I could eat way more but feel bad going over 800 calories. All these responses make me feel better though, so I do appreciate them! -

Thanks for the replies! I don't feel as guilty going over 800 calories after I workout. I probably should just focus on the protein. -
Daily Meal Ideas for WLS 8+ Months Out
lifeofblair replied to Katnroyal's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I emailed my nut today asking about working out and such. Like today my tracker says I have burned 300 calories and I have eaten 680 so far today. So, hopefully she gets back in touch with me soon. I feel like it's not enough either, but I have been trying to go by what the nut says. -
Daily Meal Ideas for WLS 8+ Months Out

I don't count calories. At least not in any formal way. I have done some "spot checks" here and there where I would log my food for a day or two just to see where I was at. But I have found that eating 5-6 times a day, putting protein first, and getting my 100 grams in pretty much keeps my calories right where they need to be. I'm in maintenance now and training for a half marathon, so I've had to actually start working on getting in MORE calories, which I am still stumbling my way though. I'm still in the losing phase (5 lbs or so from goal) and my nut said to eat between 600-800 calories a day, but I have a hard time with those calories and to get the needed protein. I like to get others opinions on what works. -

Do you all count calories or mainly focus on protein? I guess I worry that I'm going to eat too many calories. -
Found a yogurt drink in Walmart called Powerful Yogurt. Tastes like I remember a Yoohoo. 160 calories and 20g protein. Thought I'd share if you hadn't seen it before. (Tried to do a pic and it wouldn't work)

I use egg roll wrappers or wonton wrappers as a crust when I crave pizza. Gives you the fix you are looking for.

Ladies swim suit suggestions

I bought one from target and old navy is starting to get theirs out. I'm excited to buy suits this year! -
I had Dr. Wegner as well. I had bypass

The one I had didn't have that many grams of sugar. Only had 9 I think, I looked at their regular yogurt and the sugar was really high, but the drinks aren't.
-
I've thought about doing a few sessions just to get the basics down then go from there.
-
Thanks for pointing those out! The use isomalto-oligosaccharide instead of soluble corn fiber, so I might be able to handle them and the nutritional info looks good. Only slight red flag is the amount of sugar alcohol, but I think I'd be willing to give them a try. Do you know any brick-and-mortar stores that sell them? I just googled them - looks like Vitamin Shoppe carries them. I may swing by today and pick one up! Yes, I got ones at Vitamin Shoppe to try. Mine only had 2 flavors. Online they come in a lot more though.
-
Have you guys tried Oh Yeah one protein bars? They are so much softer than quest. I like them for a different taste.

No alcohol ever?!

My surgeon said wait at least a year and then only on special occasions like a wedding or holiday. -
The coffee flavoring syrups. Torani is what I have.
-
Get the sugar free syrups to make your shakes taste better. Also, protein water! I wish I had known those two things during the liquid stage after the surgery.
-
I think the same thing about Quest chips. I like them for the first few seconds then they get gross tasting.
